Played and beat ebb, great time
Gotta do another run through sometime cuz I know there’s junk I missed + other stat spreads for stuff
Did it.
I was a good man and I wonder if I did good things.
A certain charachet without the helmet
I swear to Urth, there are no screenshots of Gorm without his helmet anywhere and I can't go grab it myself rn. I really need it, hope someone could help please, it's important
not too happy with a gentle giant playthrough (strength wisdom)
I was hoping to do a gentle giant playthrough, but my strength and wisdom were at constant odds at each other and it really took me out of the roleplay experience... strength kept trying to push me towards masculinity and fascism but why cant I use my strength in the context of helping others?
the author tied constant characteristics to ideologies and personalities and honestly... that sucks... these characteristics look differently based on each individual...
im as woke as they come but holy fuck is wisdom not at all wise... it's like an enthusiastic progressive teenager which has its place (would make more sense if it was "empathy" or "open mindedness" but wisdom...? let me know what you guys think
fire game btw
edit: "ESOTERIC EBB is a single-player CRPG inspired by the freedom of tabletop adventures" so they just fucking lied huh?
Name of the soundtrack during meeting with Ever-Glad?
Listened through the OST they released, and didn’t find it, and it’s absolute fire. Anyone knows the name of the track?
Who else imagined they're playing as MandaloreGaming the entire time?
I just couldn't get it out of my head. Especially knowing his character from the PST D&D campaign. I'd see a reply in a dialogue and think yep that's what Mandalore would say
Any headcanon or though you like to share?
Here is my pretty basic one: After the election Ragn managed to convince his superiors to let him act as a sort of intermediate between the city government and the half way tribe, sageleaf specifically, so he has a reason to go around Tolstad pretty frequently, to the point some people think he just lives there now.
Trilogy Potential? End-game spoilers
So the CON check in the screenshot makes reference to three things: A Vote, a Trove, and a War. I'd like to make a case that this is soft confirmation that Esoteric Ebb will be part of a trilogy called Rule-of-Three.
SPOILERS BELOW
The Vote is pretty self-explanatory (This game revolves around Tolstad's first election), but I believe the other two are also events foreshadowed in-game.
The Trove is likely>! the one referenced in the dragon side-quest, which culminates in getting a key (The Key to Nowhere) that seemingly has no purpose in-game. I could be misremembering, but I think there were a number of dialogues that referenced some kind of dragon hoard that was being regularly delved by professional adventurers, and where there is treasure, there are also rewards hidden behind locks. Additionally, with the professional adventurers opening their own political party in the epilogue (the newspaper stand has an article on it), that would seem to be another instance of foreshadowing.!<
The War is probably the most open ended by this point. I imagine a second game would narrow down the possibilities, but right now I have two main contenders: >!The Golden Line conflict, and the potential invasion by the Arcanist-turned-Nothic amassing an army in the deep dungeon. Between having a dedicated side-quest, Ettir and Snurre both having dialogue about it, everything with the ambassador, and just being a real powder-keg of a situation, the Golden Line certainly seems to be escalating into a full on war. As for the second option, the Nothic is one of the biggest loose threads by the end of the game. Multiple sources (including everyone's favourite Mimic) point towards it being a real player in the deep dungeon, and the Arcanists in general are prime candidates for a violent resurgence spurred on by just this kind of conflict.!<
A high CON play-through is overflowing with ominous portents, and I highly recommend it. Please let me know if I missed anything or got something mixed up, most of my research was done from spotty memories and digging through save file data. This game has so much potential, and even if the trilogy ends up not happening, the game we got is a real paragon of the genre!
How the hell did I not know about this game!? Need to tell all the enjoyers of Disco Elysium and Citizen Sleeper about this.
That's all really.
We are the next god of humanity
Heavy spoilers for the ending ahead!
>!To clarify the title of this post- I believe there is a very good argument to be made that Ragn, the cleric, is implied to be similar in nature to Urth. I believe that both the lore and the main gameplay system is supposed to convey that Ragn has the potential to become powerful in the same way Urth is.!<
>!Additionally I have only done one playthrough so far as a druid with lots of wis, cha and int in that order. Some of the background information on Ragn may have been different in your playthrough depending on what path you chose for yourself. I do not know if the game changes it in that manner.!<
>!First off, the meaning of the term "god" will have to be clarified in this context, because Urth is not a god in the same sense as most other fantasy media portrays them, nor in the way real life religions think of theirs. Urth is not a divine being, but rather a sort of extremely powerful spellcaster, and his godhood comes from him simultaneously being the figurehead for humans settling on the continent in which the game takes place. He has two main things going for him, both of which originate from his deep understanding/manipulation of the strings. He is a) a powerful magic caster, and b) able to see the future. This second ability is what boosts him from powerful wizard to god. But he doesn´t just get visions of the future, but rather he can see how the probability of certain futures is, and can also see how those probabilities shift depending on the actions of him and others. Though it does not start out particularly spectacularly, as he is initially only able to tell if he´s going to screw up fixing a shoe in his fathers workshop, it grows in reach over time and is what eventually enables him to become such an effective leader all on his own.!<
>!To recap: Urth is a mortal human being who is considered a god due to his powerful spellcasting and ability to see different futures and their probabilities, both of which are born from his deep and seemingly intuitive understanding of the strings.!<
>!So right from the get go Ragn isn´t immediately disqualified from godhood by virtue of being human. He also possesses a deep and intuitive understanding of the strings, as evidenced by him being immediately able to absorb any spell scroll he comes across, much to the astonishment of a literal lich. It is also mentioned on multiple occasions that Ragn was one of the best students in the tower when it came to spellcasting, and his teachers didn´t seem to understand how he came to master spells so easily. This covers both the potential for powerful spellcasting and an innate understanding of strings, however the most important part of what makes Urth a god is never attributed to Ragn in the lore: his clairvoyance.!<
>!Evidence of this is only to be found in one place: every single skillcheck you ever do in the entire game. Each and every time you choose a dialogue option that requires a skill check you are presented with three pieces of information: the difficulty of the check, how good you are at doing it and what you have done to make the check easier or harder for yourself. So, you see your odds of success, can tell what has affected them, and can sometimes watch them change in real time when you take certain other dialogue options. Sound familiar? Now all of this is still much less powerful than what Urth can do, but he started out small as well, and there is actually one instance where Ragn´s powers of clairvoyance show signs of evolving. The very last action you take. Upon casting your ballot, you are presented with a Number next to the dialogue option where the dice used to be: 50%!<
I find that all of this makes a compelling case that Ragn is of a similar nature to Urth and could be his successor as god of mankind, but please feel free to tell me why I´m wrong. I am very excited about this idea but I´d hate to sit here all smug while a dev straight up dismissed this theory already or some such.
Can I pet that ? - ...please, cleric.
Cleric want to pet everything
I want...
an action figure/statue of Ettir so bad!!!
A French version coming soon?
Hello, I'm a young Frenchman who's very interested in the game and I'd like to know if a French version (with subtitles) is planned or if there are any ways to play the game in French. I'm not an English speaker at all; I'm currently writing with a translator, lol.

My take? I'll admit I'm biased towards Nessan. She's got big grandma energy, the way she advises Ragn on his diet and teaches him druidic magic. Even so, my pick is Olzis. She's infinitely patient, kind (but firm), and has thousands of years of experience to back up great amounts of knowledge. Hard to beat. I'd put Lisa just under Nessan, if only for her young(ish) status. Modissa has heart, but is too inexperienced/naive to be considered the wisest.
Anyone here reads order of the stick?
I just thought while playing that a crossover (fan work) with EE would be fun.

My take? Snurre is my favorite character in the game. Listening to him go on about politics, psychology, and gender for hours is genuinely a pleasure. But Visken is probably smarter, and he has a proficiency in magic/lich status that Snurre lacks. Then again, Bondoval, to my mind, best embodies Intelligence's arrogant personality.
