We are creating a RPG using FATE RPG mechanics!

Hi everyone,

We are a small indie game team aiming to make RPGs. Our long term goal is to create a RPG on the level of Baldur’s Gate 3 and Disco Elysium. We started this journey 2 years ago and wanted to build toward that goal step by step. In our first game Livber: Smoke and Mirrors, we made a visual novel where we told a single story in an interactive way. Now, with our second game, Kardiya: The Winds of Fate, we are adding more RPG layers on top of that foundation.

Our alpha playtest will be starting soon, and we would be glad to have you if it sounds interesting. The game includes dice systems, companions, gear progression, broader character progression, and an epic story. You experience the character’s journey from childhood to adulthood.

Unlike other games, we took inspiration from the FATE RPG system. We are especially trying to bring in ideas like dice shaping not only success but also the direction of the story, choices not being simply right or wrong, and every outcome pushing the narrative somewhere different.

We are still in development and trying to get closer to that vision step by step. If you’d like to join the playtest, you can register by joining the mailing list on our website or clicking the playtest request button on our Steam page.

Thank you so much <3

Hey everyone! We Are Creating a Dicebuilding Narrative RPG

Hello everyone,

We’re a small team making narrative RPGs. Right now we’re working on a game called Kardiya: The Winds of Fate. Since we were inspired by the FATE RPG system, we wanted to build a system centered around dicebuilding. You create your own build by combining dice and items.

Throughout a run, you collect new dice, upgrade them, and improve their properties as you try to overcome the game. We’re currently in development and will be starting a playtest soon.

If you’d like to join the playtest, you can register by joining the mailing list on our website or clicking the playtest request button on our Steam page.

Thank you so much <3

We are making a narrative RPG using FATE RPG mechanics!

Hi everyone,

A few months ago, I made a post here about Kardiya: The Winds of Fate, the game we are developing with inspiration from FATE RPG mechanics. Since then, we’ve kept working on the game, and we are now getting close to the playtest stage.

We are a small team, and for a long time we have been designing our own universe to be playable through FATE RPG. We previously created our own RPG book based on FATE. Since the book is in Turkish, I’m not sharing it directly here, but I can send the PDF via DM if anyone is interested. Around 2 years ago, we also made the most comprehensive “How to Play FATE RPG” YouTube series in Turkey.

Now we are trying to bring that approach into a PC game.

Kardiya is mainly a narrative-driven game. In our previous post, we said that the game had dicebuilding and roguelite elements, but over time we realized that those parts were not working as well as we wanted. So right now, we are focusing on the most important part for us: bringing the spirit of FATE into the game. We are especially focusing on the aspect logic, fudge dice, stress mechanics, and the idea that failed rolls should not stop the story, but push it in another direction.

The story and mechanics of the demo are ready. Only the visual animations are left. We’ll be starting the playtest soon. I would especially love to have people from the FATE community try the game. If you’d like to join the playtest, you can register by joining the mailing list on our website or clicking the playtest request button on our Steam page.

Thank you so much <3

Hi everyone! We Are Making a RPG That Fear and Hunger Fans Might Enjoy

Hi everyone!

We are a small team that makes narrative games, and I wanted to share the game we are currently working on ^^

First, I want to say thank you for supporting our previous game that I shared here before. Even there is no stinger moments, you support us and it meant a lot. Now we are starting work on a new RPG. Our game is Kardiya: The Winds of Fate.

It combines dicebuilding and RPG systems. You strengthen your character by creating synergies between dice and items. The story begins during childhood and continues through youth and adulthood.

Our goal is for each run to open different story paths and for the world to react to the choices you make. We’re still early in development and operating with a small team, but the playtest starts soon. Feedback from players who enjoy F&H would be especially valuable.

If it sounds interesting, you can register for the alpha playtest by joining the mailing list on our website or clicking the playtest request button on our Steam page.

We are creating a CRPG using FATE RPG mechanics. And we are looking for testers for the Alpha playtest.

Hi everyone,

My friends and I, and my cat, are developing a narrative focused game called Kardiya: The Winds of Fate. We don’t have as many mechanics as EE yet, but I can definitely say it has been a big inspiration for us.

We also took inspiration from the FATE RPG system, so there are no wrong choices in the game. Every choice pushes the experience in a different direction. Our goal is to make each run unfold as a different story as much as possible. Alongside that, the game also includes NPC relationships, character development, item building etc.

We’ll be starting the playtest soon, and I’m especially curious to hear what people who enjoy EE think about it. We are still in development and trying to get closer to that vision step by step.

If it sounds interesting, you can register for the alpha playtest by joining the mailing list on our website or clicking the playtest request button on our Steam page.

Thank you so much <3

Hey guys! We are Making a Narrative Game You Might Enjoy

Hello everyone,

I would like to show you a game we are currently developing and think you might enjoy.

It combines dicebuilding and RPG systems. You strengthen your character by creating synergies between dice and items. Similar to NitW, our game allows players to explore and interact with a variety of NPCs. Of course, our game isn’t as big or as animated as this, but we’re working to make it better and better. Our goal is for each run to open different story paths and for the world to react to the choices you make.

We’re still early in development and operating with a small team, but the playtest starts soon. Feedback from players who enjoy NitW would be especially valuable.

If it sounds interesting, you can register for the alpha playtest by joining the mailing list on our website or clicking the playtest request button on our Steam page.

Thank you ^^

Hi everyone! We Are Making a Narrative Game Pentiment Fans Might Enjoy

Hello everyone,

Pentiment is a very special game for us. We were especially inspired by how it manages to create such a strong experience purely through story, characters, and choices.

We are currently developing a narrative-focused game called Kardiya: The Winds of Fate. It plays more like an interactive visual novel, but it also includes some RPG mechanics where choices influence each other over time. The game features FATE RPG-inspired mechanics such as fudge dice, boosts, and stress.

One of the things we loved about Pentiment was how every decision you made continued to affect the situations you encountered later in the game. We are trying to capture a similar feeling in Kardiya. The choices players make, the boosts they gain, and the failures they experience can all change the difficulty of future decisions and the direction of the story.

Playtesting will begin soon. We would especially value feedback from people who Pentiment. If it sounds interesting, you can register for the alpha playtest by joining the mailing list on our website or clicking the playtest request button on our Steam page.

Thank you ^^

---

Edit: Thank you for asking about the story. In short:

The world was built around the idea of human biology. The human body is imagined as a planet, the organs as countries, and cells and bacteria as the individuals living within them. For example, Kardiya is inspired by the heart, Intestiniye by the intestines, Pancreberg by the pancreas, Thyrolin by the thyroid gland, and so on.

The main story begins with a premise inspired by Hamlet. The protagonist, Ukral is a hybrid of the noble Pacemaker race and the lowborn Eubacter race. He is a young prince whose father was murdered by his uncle, and throughout his journey, he uncovers both the truth behind the murder and the secrets hidden by his own family. The four red Digoxin dice left to him by his father (inspired by the real-world medication), are both a gameplay mechanic and magical objects at the center of the story. These dice can influence time, probability, and fate.

What do you think of our monochrome drawings?

Hello everyone,

We are a small indie team developing a text-based RPGs.

At first, we started the game with large and colorful visuals, but for a small team this process became both too expensive and too time-consuming. In order to actually finish the game, we decided to switch to monochrome illustrations.

Here we are trying out 3 different styles. They are somewhat similar to each other, but each still gives a slightly different feeling. Which one do you think fits the game better?

Hi everyone! We are Making a Narrative Game You Might Enjoy

Hello everyone,

We previously shared a post about our first game, in the Disco Elysium community and received a lot of very supportive comments. At the time, Zero Parades hadn’t been released yet, but I know it’s the same audience, so I wanted to say thank you again here as well.

If it sounds interesting to you, we are now working on our new game, Kardiya: The Winds of Fate.

Kardiya is more of an interactive visual novel experience. It includes FATE RPG-inspired fudge dice, boosts, and a stress system. The most important idea for us is this: failure does not stop the story. A bad outcome can sometimes push the player onto a completely different path.

In the game, you follow the life of a character named Ukral, from childhood to adulthood. He inherits mysterious dice from his father that can alter fate itself, but because of this inheritance, he loses his family, his home, and his safe life.

We’re still a small team and the game is still in development, but the playtest will be starting soon. Feedback from players who enjoy Zero Parades would be especially valuable to us. If it sounds interesting, you can register for the alpha playtest by joining the mailing list on our website or clicking the playtest request button on our Steam page.

Hi Guys! We Are Making a Game Inspired by Choice Driven Stories Like TWD

Hello everyone,

I would like to show you a game we are currently developing and think you might enjoy. First of all, TWD is a very special game for me. I still sometimes listen to Miracle of Sound’s "The Best I Can" while working (and usually some invisibe ninjas cutting onions ^^).

If you’d like to take a look, our game is called Kardiya: The Winds of Fate. Of course, we are a small team and we cant produce a cinematic like TWD. But this is our second game, long term we aim to gradually reach that level.

The game is still in development and the playtest will be starting soon. Feedback from players who enjoy TWD would be especially valuable to us. If it sounds interesting, you can register for the alpha playtest by joining the mailing list on our website or clicking the playtest request button on our Steam page.

Hey everyone! I wanted to say thank you for the support on our first visual novel last year. Now we are working on Kardiya: The Winds of Fate

Hi everyone.

A while ago I shared a small visual novel game of mine here. It was a psychological horror story called Livber: Smoke and Mirrors. Thank you again for the support you showed back then. Today, 2000 people ended up buying and reading the story, which honestly felt incredible ^^

Now we are working on my second story. It’s called Kardiya: The Winds of Fate. This time I kept the narrative focus, but added new game mechanics on it. You develop your character by creating synergies between dice and items.

Some of you might be familiar with the FATE RPG system. We are using a structure inspired by its aspect logic to drive the interactivity. And also, failed dice rolls are not always purely negative. Sometimes they push the story in completely different directions. Also it includes NPC relationships.

The story and mechanics of the demo are ready. Only the visual animations are left. We’ll be starting the playtest soon. I would especially love to have people from the visual novel community try the game. If you’d like to join the playtest, you can register by joining the mailing list on our website or clicking the playtest request button on our Steam page.

Hi everyone! I’m Making a Narrative Game You Might Enjoy

Hello everyone,

A last year, I made a post here about how much we were inspired by Failbetter Games. Many people, including Failbetter Games <3, left very supportive comments back then. I just wanted to say thank you again for that. For a small team like ours, it was genuinely very motivating.

Now we are about to start the playtest for our new game, Kardiya: The Winds of Fate. It is a narrative-driven game. This time, we are trying to make the story a bit more systemic through dice, choices, companions, and different outcomes. One of the most important things for us is that even failures should not stop the story, but push the player toward a different path.

That’s why feedback from the Fallen London community would be especially valuable to us. I’m genuinely curious to hear what people who love narrative-driven games think about it.

If you’d like to join the playtest, you can register by joining the mailing list on our website or clicking the playtest request button on our Steam page.

Hello Everyone! We’re Building a Narrative RPG That You Might Enjoy

Hi everyone,

It’s been a while since I played Esoteric Ebb, but I still occasionally send screenshots from the game to my teammates and say things like, “Look how they did this,” or “This part is handled so well,” lol.

I’m a game developer too, and seeing RPGs like this still being made genuinely makes me happy. One of my favorite things about EE was that it didn’t make me feel like I was searching for the correct dialogue option in a pre-written story. Instead, it felt more like playing a tabletop RPG and trying to catch the DM off guard with some ridiculous idea. There were many moments where I thought, “Will the game actually react to this too?” and most of the time, it really did.

By the way, our game is not as Disco-like as EE. We took some inspiration from the UI, but we are trying to build our own systems. For that, we based a lot of our design on the FATE RPG system. We are especially focusing on the aspect system, dice rolls shaping not only success but also the direction of the story, and the idea that even bad outcomes should not stop the narrative.

Anyway, I also wanted to share the game we are developing. It’s called Kardiya: The Winds of Fate.

Hey guys! I'm developing a epic journey interactive fiction you might like - Kardiya: The Winds of Fate

Hey everyone!

My friends and I are working on a story called Kardiya: The Winds of Fate. The game is still in development, and we're planning to start playtesting soon. We'd really appreciate it if you could check it out and share your thoughts.

For anyone who's curious, here's a quick overview of the story:

The universe is inspired by the human body. Our first game, Livber, was inspired by the liver. Our current game, Kardiya, is inspired by the heart.

In this story, we follow the life of a character named Ukral in Kardiya, an island nation shaped by the winds. Ukral is born to a noble father and a commoner mother. He inherits mysterious dice from his father that can alter the flow of fate itself. But this inheritance only fuels the fear and hatred of his uncle, who rules Kardiya.

After his father is murdered, Ukral is forced to leave palace life behind and flee into the wild while still a child. The story follows his journey of survival, growth, revenge, destiny, and ultimately saving his family.

If it sounds interesting, feel free to check out our Steam page. Thanks!
