As we head into another busy week, remember it's ok to accept help

Etobicoke is a community full of people who are willing to help. Whether it’s boosting a car, shovelling a driveway, watching a child for an hour, dropping off a meal, or just checking in after a rough week.

But many of us are better at offering help than accepting it.

We say, “I’m fine,” or “I don’t want to bother you,” because we don’t want to feel like a burden. But when someone offers help, it’s usually because they genuinely want to.

Accepting help with gratitude gives someone else the chance to feel useful, too. And that’s part of what makes a community strong: sometimes you give, and sometimes you receive.

So if someone offers you a hand this week, maybe say yes. Not because you can’t do it yourself, but because none of us are meant to do everything alone. Let people care about you the way you care about them.

Hope everyone has a great week, Etobicoke. Be kind to yourselves and to each other. ❤️

Authentic Yoga not Fusion in Etobicoke ?

Is anybody in Etobicoke at all interested in authentic Yoga? There is nothing authentic offered and I wondered if that means that people prefer the exercise classes and fusion classes , or perhaps you didn't even know that there is no authentic yoga offered and this is the first you are hearing about it? I know there are people who will respond claiming "x" establishment offers authentic yoga, but allow to explain, authentic yoga comes from a lineage that predates the 1980-2000's. The class names you see on the schedule are made up for marketing purposes, and don't reflect authenticity. Essentially an anything goes exercise class. I just wonder if any one even knows that (totally okay if you know and don't care!) just want to know what people know and think atm.

EDIT: I am interested in what people think, as opposed to people spectulating what OTHER people think. Sorry if that was unclear!

Iron mountain walk in shedding

Any luck actually getting them to open the door to this walk in service? They are never open when I go.

Any other recommendations for shredding places?

Anyone up for a game of squash?

My dad just arrived in Canada and really really wants to play squash here. He’s played with world champions and just won a couple medals recently despite being 60+. I was wondering if anyone was willing to play squash with him here :)

Will this Tiny Tots Town sign at Prince of Wales be replaced or is it forever gone?

Hi y'all I made a free benefits tool for Canadians and newcomers. 2 minutes of questions and you'll find out what you're eligible for. Your current benefits might unlock other benefits so worth checking. MyEligible.ca (no third party, no sign in). Made this in my spare time.

I hope this is helpful for many. myeligible.ca

Safe place to rent in or around Kipling/Islington/The East Mall.

Hi,

I am looking for a place to rent around the Dundas Street West and Kipling- have checked out the below so far:

15/25/35 Viking Lane: super expensive for a 1 or 1+1 ($2,550++)
30 Samuel Wood way: smaller units and the noise from train tracks doesn’t make it worth it ($2,300++ for a 600 sq.ft.)
5233 Dundas Street West: on the higher side for 1+1 ($2,550++)

My office is in Mississauga, and I’ll be using public transport for a good foreseeable future. I’ve a budget of ~$2,300 (furnished).

Can you guys recommend what other places I should check for renting that are either a single commute away from (bus #108 miway) or max another bus (example ttc 111)? Safety is the top priority.
I came across 400 The East Mall, but see almost no reviews so unsure if it’s a safe place.

TIA

PSA: A Tree Has Fallen Onto the Bridge Leading Into Echo Valley Park

Just an FYI. You can still navigate it if you're an able body person, but I would recommend waiting until it gets cleared by the city who were on site putting up caution tape when I was returning from my walk.

Another two (2) bite the dust in Long Branch

Reeaaalllyyy sad to see both Oxygen Bikes and Happy Bakers close this month and it makes me wonder if it's time to have a bigger conversation about the future of Lakeshore and how we're viewing growth in the area. I can't help but think that maybe the neighbourhood associations and their opposition to any kind of density in the area play a pretty important role...

To me, things like multiplexes, garden suites, and low to mid rise housing seem like a way to add gentle density in a sustainable way. Maybe more residents would mean more customers for the independent businesses we all want to see succeed. It's obviously not the only factor, but it seems like an obvious one to start with.

As someone who lives in the area, I often read emails from the neighbourhood association (LBNA) that consistently focus on opposing new development and only focus on the negative (and tbh, sometimes misleading readers). I understand wanting to protect the character of the neighbourhood, but all their messaging leans too heavily on the potential downsides and it misses the good that can come about having new development and more people in a community.

Sure, change can be scary, but it doesn't have to mean cutting down every tree or completely changing the neighbourhood. The area has so much potential to be an incredible destination for families, visitors, and local businesses, and we've seen some really positive changes over the past few years. Lately, though, it feels like we've lost some of that momentum, and the recent business closures have just hit a nerve...

What do you all think?

Any mechanics who will help me

Hi, recently someone bumped into my car and it resulted in a piece shifting in my car + the trim that is above the tire came off. Just one pin is missing. It’s purely cosmetic, and I know it’s an easy fix but I don’t know how to do it.

My car was parked somewhere, so I wasn’t able to get a hold of the persons info, and I just want this fixed. This is the third time this has happened to me. All I have is $300 to my name, but I just need this fixed, please. I don’t know how much cosmetic fixes cost, so please don’t think I’m trying to low ball.

I’ll include pictures as well.
