Explaining hypocrisy - ld kids being rude to other spec Ed students
I've already spoken to the students when it happened but it was more reprimand 'that's not nice' but this issue needs to be further discussed
I'm an EA that works with a wide range of students.
Recently I've had kids from one class be judgy/rude to another student with asd who speaks a bit loud.
They will be rude and say "stop shouting" even though the kid isn't shouting.
The rude kids have varying degrees of learning disability. They don't like it when they perceive being judged by others yet they do the exact same thing to others.
I could say "that's not nice, we need to be respectful " but I almost feel like it needs to be direct.
I could say "you know when you're being rude to ABC, you're acting like 123 when they were making fun of you"
It feels like the message isn't getting home. It needs to be direct, like don't be a jerk, etc.
How would you explain that they shouldn't talk about someone else, in front of them (asd) as if they're not there?
