Hamilton teachers!

I recently found out I was accepted to teachers college for j/i and would really love to go into teaching. I currently work but really dislike what I do so I plan on leaving anyway. Financially I am okay to go back to school but I’m hesitant to accept because of what I keep hearing from teachers everywhere. I was hoping that any teachers from this community could comment on things like how often there are supply jobs, LTOs, permanent positions, etc. I would be okay to supply teach for a few years if needed but I want to know if there are even positions for that.
I have young kids and really need to be certain this is the right decision for my family. I’m passionate about teaching but I also know the field is different than what it used to be. If anyone has any advice I’d greatly appreciate it.

Gastro dog food?

Anyone know where to buy Royal Canin low fat gastro dog food? I was at the PetSmart near Ottawa Street and didn't see it there. Pet valu stocks different brands as far as I recall. Global pet food - if I recall - also does not sell Royal Canin brand.

When I search online it seems like American pet smarts require a vet authorization for it.

My vet recommended it but didn't mention anything about it needing to be bought from her office or anything else like that.

Alternatively, anyone know an alternative brand for the same issue? Sensitive gut and needs to be low fat.

Pokémon Cards

I have been digging out old totes to purge things and found my binder of Pokémon cards.

I have at least one card of each of the original 151 Pokémon and stopped collecting as new generations started to come out. All have been in this binder and in card sleeves. (Some not in the best shape)

I’m looking to where I can bring them in and have a honest conversation of what ones are worth to get graded to sell

Anywhere to buy Pretzel bread sticks

Wife and I always get pretzel bread sticks and dip when we go out to restaurants like at state and main or beertown. We were wondering If any stores or bakeries make them locally around hamilton where we could buy some.

Printing stickers?

Hi, I wasn't sure how to google this so here we are. I'm looking to have a small amount of custom stickers printed, how easy is this? I own a home printer is there a store where I can just buy paper that's basically sheets of blank sticker that I can just print on? Does the library makerspace have this kind if thing?

Thanks so much.

Lawn Care Needed

Hello,

Looking for a good and reliable lawn company that can help with all the weeds in my lawn.

Tried to overseed and fertilize when I’m supposed to be no luck. Losing the battle against creeping Charlie’s etc.

Indwell plans supportive housing at site of decrepit west Hamilton theatre

Indwell plans to demolish a derelict former theatre in west Hamilton and build roughly 50 units of supportive housing as the charity continues to focus on turning a rising tide of homelessness.

The non-profit housing provider has bought 434 King St. W., a boarded-up address near Locke Street and Victoria Park where the Kenmore Theatre opened in the 1920s, for $1 million.

Help fixing a Kilt

So two of my kilts took a beating this world cup. One loop is fi e (pic 1) but the second side has broke. Does anyone know who, where, or how to fix this?

Has Hamilton stopped using umbrellas, or it is just my neighbourhood?

I live in a moderately high pedestrian traffic neighbourhood, with lots of people coming and going. Mostly for walks and such, but also to catch the bus.

I love to sit on my front porch and watch the world go by, especially during a thunderstorm. I started to notice last year that there seemed to be very few people with umbrellas when it rained, and I started keeping an eye out.

For example during this morning's thunderstorm, over 30 people walking by, only one had an umbrella (and he literally just went from his front door to his car). Not one of the pedestrians was carrying an umbrella, and they all got soaked.

So is this just my neighbourhood, or have you noticed something similar where you are? Have we just given up on the umbrella?
