Trim is an artist artist that just appeared out of nowhere like a blade of grass from the concrete. And now before you can blink shes made the 2026 XXL Freshman cover. Interesting for sure. But okay I’ll bite, she has no album and so this EP is the best we can get for an actual sample size. Taking the GELO place of last years class, having almost no music out yet getting a placement on one of the most well known Hip-Hop lists of the year eh? Gotcha.

Trim sounds like a Nicki Minaj knock off incamt lie. And in 2026 we might need a Nicki replacement I won’t lie, but I’m not sure I like the imitation that seems to be happening here on SC PRINCESS. Trims raps are good enough, the flow and the rhyming itself, but lyrically doesn’t bring anything impressive. I mean it’s literally the same exact type of content you’d expect from Nicki which only makes the vocal and flow similarities stand out that much more. Bugatti has Trim talking about a Bugatti, her body and clothes. A theme that follows all 4 tracks here.

So I also decided since the EP was so short and mediocre I’d also check out Coconut Water and some other singles. Floor is solid enough, it brings the same elements of SC PRINCESS but drops the voice that sounded like Nicki and suddenly everything improved. It’s not great, but it’s solid for sure. GUAPO is hilarious because it’s the same exact melody and flow for the hook as the next song I’ll talk about which blew up, so I guess don’t give up lol. Trims big single that dropped this year and like her placement on the XXL list, seemed to bubble up out of nowhere. It’s a good song and for sure is much better than anything on SC PRINCESS. Trim dropped the Nicki Minaj impression here for some other voice doesn’t sound like any of the other songs Trims made, but that’s fine I suppose. It’s a good song and I see why it’s big, but not a song that’s blowing me away.

Trim has talent for sure, but I’d need her to find her own sound and identity before I can buy in. Especially because her push feels extremely unnatural to me. Maybe I’m wrong, but things don’t few organic, and using the same flow from GUAPO to Coconut Water is that kind of industry mindset stuff that’s popping red flags.
