Diggin' in my Mama's crates...
My mom recently moved, so I finally got to go through some of her records she had stored for years. She used to play them here and there when I was younger.
Some are mixed in with my grandma’s jazz records too. Haven’t seen these in well over 25 years, so it was really fun to go through them.

Do transitional soul/R&B artists still count as soul?

Who are some artists you’d consider transition-era or borderline soul? Those who started in classic 60s/70s soul but shifted into 80s R&B, quiet storm, or funk-infused pop as the sound evolved?
Also, do you tend to group these artists under “soul” overall, or split them into separate categories once they move into that 80s sound?
I’ve got a few in mind, but I’m more interested in how other people define that transition and who they’d include.

Judge Greg Mathis is urging people to contact their members of Congress and U.S. senators about a new Education Department rule affecting vocational programs like beauty, cosmetology, and massage therapy schools. Many in the industry are concerned that schools could lose federal funding if graduates don't meet certain income requirements, which could lead to closures and fewer opportunities for future stylists and professionals.
