Early Game EXP & LP Farm I Found in the Leviathan (No Glitch Needed)
I think I found a really good early-game EXP and LP farming method in Final Fantasy XII, and it doesn’t seem to require any glitches or exploits.
This happens in the Leviathan section, right after rescuing Ashe, when Vossler joins the party as a guest.
Here’s how it works:
Progress normally through the Leviathan.
After passing through the control rooms and continuing toward the objective, the ship eventually goes into alert mode (red alert).
In one of the later control areas, Imperial soldiers start spawning continuously in large numbers.
That’s where the farming starts.
What I did:
Set up Gambits focused on:
Automatic healing
Reviving fallen allies
Auto-attacking enemies
Then I just let the party fight automatically.
Once your Gambits are properly configured, the party becomes almost fully self-sufficient:
they heal themselves,
revive automatically,
and keep killing enemies nonstop.
At that point, you can even leave the game running on 4x speed in The Zodiac Age version.
The enemies keep coming, and your party keeps gaining EXP and LP endlessly. I ended up reaching extremely high levels and getting tons of License Points without actively grinding myself.
I’m not sure if this is already well known in the community, but I thought it was cool to share because:
it works pretty early in the game;
it doesn’t require cheats or bugs;
and it’s a very easy semi-AFK leveling method.
Has anyone else used this spot before? Or know other good early/mid-game farming locations? 😄

Spreadsheet help
So I plan on playing Zodiac Age, and I know what classes I'm going to pick for each character. I plan on using Jegged for a guide.
The problem I'm having is trying to understand this spreadsheet: https://nattthebear.github.io/ff12characterplanner/
So for example, I want Vaan to be a Shikari/Foebreaker. So if I pick that in the spreadsheet, I see a big chart. Are the grayed out blocks things I should ignore, and the colored ones I should follow? Or is it all that I need to follow? It looks like I need to follow all, but I can't tell what the difference between colored/non colored blocks are. I also don't know what the progression should be. I don't understand how to use this spreadsheet.
I also try to use this spreadsheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1s5eVgvCJgdQjqw4q8HDK_v8q7y5p6U6KjJLWD2CunEM/edit?gid=1201899964#gid=1201899964
But somethings break when I try to edit the jobs. Like I try to give Vaan Shikari for his first job, and all the columns turn to false. I might be looking at the wrong sheet.
Edit: This might be my build: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1s5eVgvCJgdQjqw4q8HDK_v8q7y5p6U6KjJLWD2CunEM/edit?gid=658668822#gid=658668822
I'm not sure about the progression though. I don't even know if I can follow this
I need help picking between versions for my replay
As the title suggests. I've beaten Zodiac Age twice back when it came out and once again a few years later, but it's been quite some time since then I've wanted to try IZJS since I heard it's harder than ZA, or I might even go with the OG? What do you suggest?
Any good leveling spots?
Basically wanna level up quick af so I won't get one shot again
All Ranged Update!
Story wise, I’m off to Jahara to visit the Garif. I’ve finished off most hunts up to this point! I slept on some of the techniques in previous playthroughs. Horology is absolute dynamite! Pretty quick cast time, and depending on the game clock, can be devastating. It was hitting the Gil Snapper for around 1700 for a bit! Then dropped to zero, then gradually got big again.
I was impatient though, and didn’t steal from the Wyvern lord successfully to get the Arcturus early. Oh well! Still having a blast! Oh!!! And getting the hand bombs early from the waterway has made Basch a tank. Foebreaker doing some numbers!
We lost a legendary voice actor, Tom Kane who did the voice of Halim Ondore IV.
I want to give my condolences to a legendary voice actor who shaped our lives especially when he gave us such an amazing character such as Ondore. He will be forever missed and always the man behind Halim Ondore IV. A man who led alongside the Resistance to fight back against a tyrannic empire. May he rest in peace. But this time I think we all can agree that we can believe what Ondore was saying.
Ultima Blade question
Im playing through the original PS2 version of XII and trying to get the Ultima Blade. I had all the items i needed and i went to go sell them at the city just passed where the Adamantitans are but i didnt get the Ultima Blade bazaar item to show up. I sold some loot with the items did that effect it? Ill have to regrind the items since i didnt save beforehand (stupid i know).
Help with Steal gambit
I want my character to attempt to Steal at most 2 times on a target before moving on to attacking.
I'm currently using the "Foe: at 100% HP, steal" gambit, which works great if my party does their jobs and attacks. But there are times when my party can't attack, such as when they are doing higher priority actions like healing allies. In these situations, my stealer just continually attempts to steal 5-6 times uselessly, waiting for other party members to finally attack.
Any suggestions are appreciated.
Anyone ever go back to Vaan's gang to give them "life updates"?
I keep going back to Old Dalan, Migelo and Kytes in between chapters to see if they have anything to comment on Vaan's current life and surprisingly Dalan has a LOT to say. Also the little storytelling kid, but he seems to have stopped after the Raithwall arc...
100%!!!
After 102:03:36 I finally did it, 100% the game!!!
Finally got the Trail done! 100% the game!
After 5 attempts to beat the 100 floor off and on the last year. No Overpowered Seitengrat (have zero patience to farm the rng 😂).
Rare Marks / Phon Coast
Alright, I fucked up - I thought I had 30x trophies, gave them out, then realized that I’m missing 2x… I don’t know which ones I’m missing.
Is there a way to check-and-balance the missing two so that I can track those down?
Disclaimer: I beat Trial already with all the secret monsters, so I am showing 100% on my bestiary already.
Need help with a few hunts
Particular with Gmesh 2 and Fanir both just overwhelm me I did get to where Gilgamesh uses his Palling. My party is Knight Bushi Vaan Uhlan/Bushi Basch and White/Blackmage Ashe
Specific question about a specific job setup (expert answers only please)
I'm not currently playing the game, but another question on this sub triggered my thought process regarding my probable job setup, so I wanted a little knowledge on one particular change I was thinking of making. My current setup would be:
Vaan - Shikari + Foebreaker
Penelo - Archer + Red Battlemage
Balthier - Knight + Bushi
Fran - White Mage + Machinist
Ashe - Monk + Black Mage
Basch - Uhlan + Time Battlemage
I don't mind general comments about this setup, but my specific question is: would Basch and Penelo be more effective (from a general purpose use POV) if I swapped the Battlemages over, so Penelo would be and Archer Time Battlemage and Basch a Uhlan Red Battlemage? If I recall correctly, Uhlans and Time Mages are quite slow, and I know that they both use Heavy Armour, leaving Basch as the only party member with only one armour class option.
