FF12 TZA Magicks not unlocking?

I read online that after beating Bergen I should have unlocked a ton of spells like Esuna and the Ra level spells but the spell shops are always the same as they have been with no Ra level spells or Esuna - am I missing something?

Show me some cool screenshots from the OG PS2 version

Hello Ivalicians!

As for the topic, I'm looking for some nice shots from the original. I still see them from TZA, but I would like to feel this punch of nostalgia 🥲

Best job combinations for a strict 3 person party?

Looking for help creating a team without having to swap characters out as a personal limitation/challenge. I don't really mind which characters its on so I dont intend to minmax that much. I just need help covering all my bases as well as possible. Ideally the comp includes the following:

-Access to all four break skills

-At least one good support character

-Doesn't struggle when flying enemies show up

I am pretty sure I want to include Archer/Red Mage as one of them but I am open to all suggestions. I was considering Knight/Bushi for one but that has nothing for flying really. I really like the 'idea' of Foebreaker but im told they're kind of weak and basic until the very end of the game.

There's a spot on the bridge before you enter Lull of the Land (Jahara) that offers such a beautiful view

You can tell it's soon going to rain on the Ozmone Plains.

How cool do my guys look cruising the field

My default speed is usually a run or I use the High Speed mode to get through areas and encounters with enemies quicker, but I was inspired by the comments on one of my earlier posts to just maintain a walk while enjoying the scenery. And it really was a fresh feeling.

I also like how they're proactively reorganizing themselves to keep the formation (and look good doing it too). How they turn when someone is executing an action, it looks like they're simultaneously scanning the area. Vaan truly moves like a leader at the front and there's a moment where Reddas and Basch deftly step to the front to support Vaan while he makes the first attack.

It's always been there of course, but the change in pace really made me see just how much detail and love went into the party's movement.

Need a lot of Gil

I just got finished Tomb of Raithwall and am back on Rabanastre. I was willing to spend a few hours grinding to buy whatever else was new in the shops, but after checking them, I pretty much need over 40K gil, and last time I grinded (skeletons in Lhusu Mines) I only got around 13K after 3 hours. Is there a better way or a better place to farm gil at this point in the game? Because I play around 2 to 3 hours a day and I'd really like to avoid using half a week just to buy equipment

Also asking because most of the times I check online how to get more money, the responses are either about Zodiac Age (which I don't know how different it is, but I know a lot of things are different) or just straight up don't fit (like how I read the skeletons on Lhusu Mines would drop their loot items on bulks if you made a big chain, which they never did, not even with a chain above 100)

And now i hate myself. I just want to explore without running into rare monsters who will push my shit in. I still have a bit of story left.

Newbie to FFXII. Advice?

I am a huge fan of the VII - X franchises and have been playing them repititavely for 20 years lol. I felt it's time to move away from the classic 4 and try XII. Any advice going into this? I'll be playing in my switch ✌️

People who love this game, what are its real flaws?

I played this game for the first time a couple winters ago when I was very depressed. It actually took me two Winters to beat. It was nice to dive into another world, with a game that wasn't like any other that I had played.

Obviously I wouldn't still be in this subreddit if it wasn't a memorable experience. But for as unique of an experience it was, I was also left feeling like something about this game was a little odd to me. But I could never quite put my finger on it.

I kind of chocked it up to being a game that has been redesigned a couple times, like maybe I could tell that I wasn't playing the OG experience. At the same time those redesigns are essential to keep the game somewhat modern.

So what are your thoughts? Do you think this game actually has flaws? Especially if you think that there are things new players should know.

EDIT to add -- would you recommend playing with a players guide?

Thematically, Who Should Get Which Esper? Spoiler Tag to be Safe

I've defeated Mateus recently and was wondering who would be the most fitting person to summon her? I already assigned Belias to Ashe, her being Raithwall's descendant and Belias serving him in life and after death, but Mateus the Corrupter I'm not as sure who she fits best.

Migelo's fatherliness is always present

Migelo is one of my favorite characters in FF12. I'll visit him every time I return to Rabanastre. I don't know if it's just my imagination, but even if he's not talking to you, he exudes such warmth.

Also look at the level of detail on those bottles. On everything actually.

So Question?

I'm replaying FFXII, and I'm at the part I ragequit. Tomb of Raithwall, if that narrows it down. I'm currently under level. What is the recommended level to continue. I've been going in circles around Giza plains, grainding for few days now, filling my licenses as well, all Quackinings acquired. Vann (Shikari), Ashe(Knight), and Penelo (White Mage) are at I think level 19. Basch (Bushi), Balthier (Machinist), and Fran (Archer) are level 16, I think.

I was going to grind to 25. Is that too low? While it's my second attempt, like I said before, this was my road block. As soon as Vann, Ashe, and Penelo get to level 20, I'll switch them out so the rest can level up. And possibly gain more LP while I'm at it. I'm I doing everything, right? Before you ask, I can teleport to the tomb, and I am just preparing.

Update: Tomb has been beaten.

Am I ready for Hell Wyrm/Yiazmat?

I am trying to get the Platinum trophy, and for the first time ever, I’m going to battle Hell Wyrm and Yiazmat. Already did all the other hunts, got all the Espers.

I still don’t have the Zodiac Spear, though, but I do have the Yagyu Darkblade (which I heard is useful against Yiazmat)

The job distribution is the following:

Vaan: Shikari / Monk
Balthier: Machinist / Uhlan
Fran: Archer / Red Battlemage
Basch: Foebreaker / Bushi
Ashe: Knight / Time Battlemage
Penelo: White Mage / Black Mage.

Am I ready for Hell Wyrm and then Yiazmat, or should I reach lvl. 99 before? What should I expect? I’m aware these are long battles, but how long?

Thanks in advance!

Going through FF games replaying, ive done the glitch to get the bow in Chapter 1 before amd was going for it again - did they randomly patch it on steam?

Ive been healing with Reks for over 20mins (an entire show episode) on x4 speed and have only gotten 88-97 twice?

Don't listen to Ondore's lies! Evasion really is worth building for

Over the years this game has been out (and the IZJS before it) there has been much discussion on the topic of evasion. Many players acknowledge its usefulness, while other players feel caring about evasion is mostly a meme. The evasion-apathetic crowd focuses mainly on the argument that many enemies, especially the toughest enemies in the game, ignore evasion entirely. This is definitely true.

However, there are maybe only 50 to 100 fights where evasion does nothing. This is a game with *tens of thousands* of fights. In nearly all of the actual fights that will take place in a playthrough, evasion works to mitigate incoming damage. If specifically built for (>!Main-Gauche + Demon Shield!< for example), the amount of damage mitigated can be significant.

Late game areas Evasion works:

  • >!Necrohol of Nabudis!<
  • >!Nabreus Deadlands!<
  • >!Great Crystal "secret" area!<
  • >!Pharos Subterra!<
  • >!Henne Mines "secret" area!<
  • >!Cerobi Steppe!<

Many of these areas have valuable loot in chests that makes a player want to linger in them a while, and the player will typically be harassed by regular enemies while they explore. Evasion makes that whole process easier.

Building for evasion is not difficult, so a player doesn't have to go out of their way or really sacrifice anything to build for it. For instance, the example given above >!only requires having a Shikari somewhere in the party!<. For this reason, I don't think a player needs to stress about evasion. However, having at least one high evasion character absolutely is worth it, and I want this post out there encouraging players to consider it, in light of there being some posts on the internet encouraging players to mostly ignore evasion.

Happy Hunting!
