How good are the FF Strat Tremolos?
How would you rate the Strat trems? Are the bridge blocks any good, and are they branded trems? Any close up pics?

Acoustics went on sale - $30-60 off. Some good deals are there!
I've been rotating through my guitars so they all get played and nobody feels left out... And when I come back to this one... It's just awesome. The stock pickups are friggin awesome. I play metalcore, thrash, emo, screamo, punk, etc. anything fast and heavy. These pickups are great.
My other ffsp is better fit and finish, slimmer neck, awesome looking, but this one is just... better. This is the one.
Not my first fireflies so I knew the necks would feel great.
I’m wondering if there are any glaring issues with these, or something that typically needs to be replaced. Most of the reviews I can find are from earlier models.
Also, I really wanted the gold one, but it sold out quickly. Are these models restock somewhat regularly or should I just get one of the other colors so I’m not stuck waiting for a long time?
Thanks in advance!
Everything is good as usual. Neck needed a little tweak on the truss rod. Now it’s playing amazing. Sounds as country as you can get, & some pretty killer punk tones using a Boss Katana. Super happy with the color. I need the surf green start now to complete the pair.
Hey Folks
I've been really impressed with the quality of the guitars coming out of china these days.
I'm not looking for a clone marked as a Gibson. I'd like to know what brands produce the Firebird style under their own logo
I know Firefly has one. But that's about it
Any others ?
Thanks
I'm curious what "rosewood composite" means with this guitar.
My Pegasus had many issues, and I'm thinking of getting a new one, if Firefly's success rate is a lot higher than its failure rate.
Or should I just return it and forget about it?
Issues are gritty frets, lifted fret ends, burr in a tuner, and very blemished binding.
I gave her my top 3 from the GG site and included this in the 3. If it had been priced similarly to the other brand’s LPs I wouldn’t have risked it. For what it’s worth, my other 2 picks were the blue Tak M and the Slash LP.
It does not disappoint, looks so much better in person than on their site. Neck is great, fretwork perfect, finish immaculate, intonation spot on and sounds amazing. Only change I’ll be making to it is swapping the strap buttons for Schaller S-locks.
(The bridge pickup is gold, it looks red because of my shirt)
after seeing a ton of relic flamed maple necks and loving the look I attempted to do it to my firefly cause i already know it plays very nice and I don’t wanna pay thousands for a relic so I did the work on the neck and then next thing I knew I got a little carried away…scraping the finger board, checking the entire surface and removing chunks of paint lol… but I’m actually really happy with it and it makes me want to pick it up and play it more. I also de badged it to give it a parts-tele look… and yes I’m aware a poly finish would never ever in a million years would look like this but idc lol it’s my guitar….theres a ton of before and after shots mixed in obviously u can tell which is which
I like to take the acoustics (like the coco) and do some work the befits what I would like to have
Here is a list of what I did (not in order)
Rolled fretboard edges
Cut new bone nut with lower height profile and mimicked 1 3/4” spacing.
refret with nickel frets and I had never had a chance to do one where tangs are exposed and it looks awesome and came out good. The rosewood itself is a bit rough and meh, which is why I did 4.
Darkened fretboard and bridge a bit with India black ink. Re sanded lightly to bring back natural color but the shade is more of what I prefer (almost all my keepers are ebony it’s just my preferred)
Sanded neck and bridge to smooth as glass. Took bridge down a few thousandths with cabinet scraper and careful sanding
De-shined tuners to make it look more like Taylor builders edition tuners. Just a look thing.
Re strung with daddario bronze strings which actually was an accident I grabbed the wrong pack and was like “what the heck let’s try them”
Next thing I may do is go under and scallop the bracing bit more which a builder I know has done to edit some of the responsiveness. I may throw in a baggs Hifi if I ever wanna take it out. Anyway. I love Koa and for the price it is, it’s a solid instrument. Ofc it doesn’t measure up to my k24ce builders but at. A fraction of the price and solid wood, can’t go wrong!
Got the red FFTL from the recent drop. I am impressed by the build and red sparkle color. The pickguard has some scratches, not a big deal.
But the pickups are not that good. And the strings are too tight. Not sure why. The frets look decently polished but playing this guitar is NOT really fun.
I wonder if these cheap strings are too stretched too tight that you can't really bend them easily or if there's something wrong with the guitar itself?
I might try changing the strings but don't want to void the return warranty.
Anyway, is this guitar worth upgrading? Thinking of putting on Tonerider classics and getting a full setup. Will probably cost me around $250+ but wonder if its worth the investment and time
Anyone in similar situation? Were the strings too tight to play in the beginning but got much better after setup/upgrades?
I ordered one of these recently and it is supposed to arrive in a few days. before i bought it, i looked and found basically zero info on it. I decided to pull the trigger anyway as I was recently asked to fill in for a band that uses baritones and had wanted one anyway.
as i wait for it to arrive, i keep looking for some reason and still not finding anything. anybody here have one and have any opinions on it? i know offsets and gretschs are all the rage in the baritone world rn so i imagine this one would be less popular, im just surprised i cant find anything on it other than the headstock legal issues a little while back (they have clearly changed the headstock this time around).
Just bought the bone shredder off of guitarsgarden and am absolutely pumped! Anything I should know or expect before it gets here?
My firefly collection.
