Need Help for B.Sc. Forensic Science Dissertation (Human-Like Writing Guidance Needed)

Hey everyone, I’m a B.Sc. Forensic Science student and currently working on my dissertation project. I honestly need some genuine guidance because this is my first major research project and I don’t want it to look copied or fully AI-written.

My topic is:

Detection of Latent Fingerprint Using Dragonfruit Peels on Porous and Non-Porous Surfaces 🔍🍉

I have to prepare a complete dissertation in university format with:

\- Introduction

\- Literature review

\- Methodology

\- Results & discussion

\- References

\- Tables/images/graphs

I already have a basic draft and some format samples, but I’m struggling with:

\- making the writing sound natural and student-written

\- improving grammar without making it robotic

\- reducing AI-style wording

\- making methodology/results look realistic

\- proper forensic dissertation formatting

If anyone has experience with forensic science projects, dissertation writing, or knows good tools/websites for making research writing more human and natural, please help 🙏

Even small guidance about:

\- better writing style

\- paraphrasing techniques

\- realistic formatting

\- references/journals

\- tools for humanizing academic writing

would really help me a lot ❤️

Masters

How helpful is a masters in forensic science? Once I finish my undergrad which is already in forensic science I would want to start working either as an analyst or a lab tech. However, my parents are like u shd go to for masters and u can get better jobs post grad and maybe you can manage a lab instead of working in it. Which I don’t want to do. I want to be a forensic scientist in a lab. So any advice would be greatly appreciate. Note: masters program I am considering is Arcadia University masters in forensic science with forensic bio specification. And career goal is to work for DNA in Seattle crime lab.

Books

What books do u read to learn about forensics subjects (photography, psichology etc) ? Like University textbooks or well-explained books that can actually be useful in the future, not just for reading

International Forensic Science Student looking to transfer to USA

Hello everyone. I'm a student in the Dominican Republic finishing up my internship. I haven't started my residency yet but I would ultimately like to be a medical examiner in the US. Does anyone have any insight on how to best make this possible? Would it be a better option to become a Forensic Doctor here in the DR first and then transferring over? Any bit of insight would be appreciated as I am having a hard time finding information for my specific information. Thank you.

What possibly killed this hairy tailed mole?

Not sure if this is the right sub, but you guys know a lot about death. I found this hairy tailed mole in the middle of a well maintained hiking trail. I thought it was odd it was in the middle of the trail and after watching it for a bit I realized it wasn’t breathing. I took a stick and gently moved it and it was in a state of rigor mortis but otherwise had no visible injuries. Any idea how it might have died in the middle of a trail like this or at the very least whether this is normal to die like this? I hope there’s no source of poisoning nearby as this is a very nature heavy trail.

Question about jobs

So I am currently almost done with my bachelors degree in forensic science. ( have one year left ). I found out one of the requirements to be a forensic scientist at the agency I want to work at, you need a bachelors or masters from an accredited degree. However, my degree is not accredited since I didn’t know anything about fepac accreditation when I was applying. Now the question is, if I get a job as a crime lab technician in that lab and in the dna section( I have a part time job on campus which is giving me experience for a lab tech position ) . Would I still be able to get the job as a forensic scientist in the DNA section even though I do not have an accredited degree?

Cleaning Luminol post police investigation. Help

I was struggling to find an appropriate subreddit so please let me know if this isn’t correct I’m just at my wits end here. Long story short in October 2025 a family member was killed in her home an investigation was opened and has since been closed. The cleaning issue I’m facing is trying to remove luminol off of walls in the home since they’ve been sitting so long the stains are very set. I can’t find any information online other than to just paint over it and I’m just hoping we can avoid adding that. If anyone has ever dealt with something similar (my deepest condolences) I am open to any advice.

FS (General) or FS (Death Investigation)?

Hello! I am lucky enough to be able to attend Arizona State University Online through working at Starbucks, and I’ve had interest in Forensics for awhile without truly knowing if it’s what I want to do. When looking at my options for ASU, it’s one of the majors that pops out at me the most, and so I’m wanting to learn slightly more before committing.

I think I’d be interested in Death Investigations as a specification, but I’m not sure if I should limit my studies to that or go with the general…. So I’d like opinions, and I’d also like to hear from Forensic Scientists who specify in that area and how it differs in their experiences.
Thank you in advance!

Retired Forensic ID Specialist Needs an Audience: Q&A Livestream

I accepted a 7-day livestream challenge. Starting Monday 5/11.

Here's the deal: I'm a former Forensic Identification Specialist. I've processed real crime scenes, lifted real prints, and testified in real courtrooms. What I have NOT done is go live on the internet. Not once. So this should be entertaining and educational for everyone.

If you've ever wanted to pick the brain of someone who actually worked CSI — not the TV version, the real one — this is your shot. Crime scene processing, fingerprint analysis, forensic methodology, breaking into the field, court testimony, cold cases — ask me anything forensic-related. I will answer it live, probably while figuring out how to unmute myself.

  • On YouTube
  • Monday 5/11 through Sunday 5/18
  • Weeknights @ 6PM Pacific — at least 30 min, longer if the questions are good

In an era of AI slop and deep fakes, I offer you something rare: a real human being who is genuinely figuring out livestreaming in real time. Authenticity guaranteed. Technical competence — we'll see.

Drop a message if you're in. Details within 48 hours.

Please help--changing careers

Seeking advice for my next steps.. I have a B.S. in Biology and a M.S. in Biotechnology. I had always wanted to go to medical school and after taking the MCAT 3 times with no real change in the scores, I've decided to go into forensic science as it has always piqued my interest. I would like to be Forensic DNA analyst. I've had the idea to go back for a master's in forensic science but am also finding online certificate programs which seem easier for me to do as I work full time as a medical scribe. What would be the best option for me moving forward? Thanks in advance for your replies.

Is forensics the right choice for me?

I’m still in high school (junior) and this is the time where I have to pick what I want to pursue, it’s been putting me on edge lately. I love the concept of forensics or anything in that field, I’m not sure what I really want to set my mind on, I live in the UAE and I’m not sure if that’s gonna benefit me as I don’t hear much about forensics in my country (I probably just need to research more). I was also thinking of studying abroad but again I don’t know, what if I study that major and realize I can’t handle doing it even though I love forensics?
