Any tips?

For those who follow NHS guidelines, are there any tips or tricks you use to prep formula that have made your life easier? My one month old has so far been on ready to feed which has been so convenient honestly, but we’re slowly switching to the powdered one of the same brand starting today (Kendamil stage 1), I tried making a bottle today and between boiling the water and waiting for it to cool to 70 degrees before adding formula he was already a screaming mess, it’s such a hassle!

Any advice, tips and tricks are appreciated, but also
Not looking to use the Baby Brezza Formula maker.

Thank you!

High palate cause reflux?

I’m really struggling with my baby girl the last few days. We changed her to comfort milk and although I’ve seen a slight improvement. She still can’t be laid flat, after feeds you can tell just by watching her that acid coming back up, her eyes go all watery and red, she does a sour look on her face, she tosses, she wants her dummy then she doesn’t, she starts scratching at her ears, she needs to be kept upright which is taking a toll on me.

I’ve got a doctors appointment tomorrow because I’m at a loss now.

She’s had gaviscon - stopped her pooing for days and was in pain during the days of not pooing.
I’ve mixed carobel in her milk but although it helped her reflux, she became constipated.
I’ve changed bottles.
I’ve changed teats.
I’ve changed dummies.
I’ve used colief drops.
He used Infacol drops.
I’m doing tummy time with her.
The only thing I’ve not tried is an osteopath purely because of the cost and worried to pay out all that and still not see a difference.
She’s had her tongue tie released.
I’ve kinda noticed a high palate. Could this be the cause??

But tomorrow I’m going to the doctors with her because I’ve coped with this for 10 weeks and I really didn’t want to medicate her but I don’t know what else to do

Tommee Tippee Teats

Hi,

My LO is 4 months old and I’ve just switched up to size 2 teats. Feeds were taking quite a long time and he was getting frustrated, pushing the bottle away on the size 1’s. However, size 2’s are maybe a little too fast! He doesn’t seem to be frustrated as much but milk is coming out of his mouth a little. I have tried the variflow ones but they seemed faster than the number 2’s! Should I persevere with the 2’s and pace the feeds a bit more or try the variflow ones again?

Thanks for any advice

SILENT REFLUX. Change formula?

My little girl has silent reflux.
Shes really hard work, especially today.
She got prescribed gavsicon but that caused her to go 3-4 days without pooing and when she did it was like sticky tar. She would be in pain during those days too.
So I bought carobel and that made her constipated with dry pebbles.
(I’m from the UK)

I’ve tried to only give either of them at bedtime which helps the reflux but still causes the poo issue.

Shes on HIIP organic and has been for 5 weeks. Previously I combi fed with Kendamil but Kendamil seemed really rich for her as she would almost do crunches when feeding it to her as though it was hurting her belly.
I really don’t want to meditate her so I’m trying to find other ways that could potentially help. Is it worth trying a comfort formula because it’s slightly thicker?
Or I’ve read before some parents just completely change the formula and they seem better?

How to deal with being the only one to formula feed

I'm in the position where out of all my friends, I am the only one who has had to exclusively formula feed. So far, there have been 7 other babies born and all of them have managed to breastfeed exclusively eventually.

I am shut out of conversations on a regular basis because they are all talking about breastfeeding, their supply, how they weaned etc. and I am just sat there. I know it's important they have support to breastfeed and it's a big part of their motherhood journey, but it feels like unless I meet them one on one, I inevitably end up sat in silence for a portion of the time and feel so excluded.

I've also found out one of my recently postpartum friends is now getting really close with another mutual friend that they didn't really have a close bond with before because of breastfeeding. I am doing my best to support this friend (checking in, dropping off food without knocking on the door, offering errands and never asking to see them or baby etc) but I feel hurt that I am doing all I can to support her and the only person she wants to talk to is someone who breastfed. I get that's selfish of me and she needs to do what is best for her, but I'm starting to wonder if this is it for me, every time someone has a baby/talks about babies I'm going to be reminded of the fact that I couldn't breastfeed and I'm the odd one out.

I don't really know what to do with this feeling, it's dragging up all the guilt and sadness of not being able to breastfeed either child again. I'm out of the formula feeding stage now and I won't be having any more children, but I was the first to have a baby and I just feel like I can't do this for another 5 years while everyone else has babies and just breastfeeds.

I don't really know what to do. I was diagnosed with PTSD during my last pregnancy because of the birth trauma from my first, I've had therapy but tbh I haven't been able to let any of it go, I'm just better at not thinking about it until I'm not.
