Omeprazole wear off?

Hello, my little girl was prescribed omeprazole medicine only 4 days ago. She’s allowed 4ml each day. I give it in a morning.
I know we’re only on day 4 so things could improve yet, I have seen a difference. However I find it works well then it gets to about 5pm and she starts getting uncomfortable and can’t get to sleep, she starts scratching at her face more and kinda lifting her neck up high as though something is irritating.

Did this happen at all for your LO and did you notice a difference as the days go on?

High palate cause reflux?

I’m really struggling with my baby girl the last few days. We changed her to comfort milk and although I’ve seen a slight improvement. She still can’t be laid flat, after feeds you can tell just by watching her that acid coming back up, her eyes go all watery and red, she does a sour look on her face, she tosses, she wants her dummy then she doesn’t, she starts scratching at her ears, she needs to be kept upright which is taking a toll on me.

I’ve got a doctors appointment tomorrow because I’m at a loss now.

She’s had gaviscon - stopped her pooing for days and was in pain during the days of not pooing.
I’ve mixed carobel in her milk but although it helped her reflux, she became constipated.
I’ve changed bottles.
I’ve changed teats.
I’ve changed dummies.
I’ve used colief drops.
He used Infacol drops.
I’m doing tummy time with her.
The only thing I’ve not tried is an osteopath purely because of the cost and worried to pay out all that and still not see a difference.
She’s had her tongue tie released.
I’ve kinda noticed a high palate. Could this be the cause??

But tomorrow I’m going to the doctors with her because I’ve coped with this for 10 weeks and I really didn’t want to medicate her but I don’t know what else to do

Comfort formula & gaviscon

Wondering if anyone has done this?
My little girl has changed over to SMA comfort, so far so good. I did intentionally get it to see if it helps with her reflux as it’s kinder to digest.
I have seen improvements, she doesn’t cry when passing gas now, she doesn’t cry randomly after feeds and her reflux has improved.

However… bed time bottle, so I give it her and sit her up for 30 mins but she still seems to have discomfort in her throat. I’m guessing there because she kinda uses her fists to rub her neck. She doesn’t cry but she gets really uncomfortable and you can tell she can’t get to sleep because of it.

I’m wondering what if I feed her the comfort milk, let it settle 10 mins and then use a sprinkle of gaviscon in some cooled boiled water to just ease it slightly?

I know you can’t mix it because it will become a paste but I think I need just the edge taking off with the acid.

Any thoughts or other suggestions?

SILENT REFLUX. Change formula?

My little girl has silent reflux.
Shes really hard work, especially today.
She got prescribed gavsicon but that caused her to go 3-4 days without pooing and when she did it was like sticky tar. She would be in pain during those days too.
So I bought carobel and that made her constipated with dry pebbles.
(I’m from the UK)

I’ve tried to only give either of them at bedtime which helps the reflux but still causes the poo issue.

Shes on HIIP organic and has been for 5 weeks. Previously I combi fed with Kendamil but Kendamil seemed really rich for her as she would almost do crunches when feeding it to her as though it was hurting her belly.
I really don’t want to meditate her so I’m trying to find other ways that could potentially help. Is it worth trying a comfort formula because it’s slightly thicker?
Or I’ve read before some parents just completely change the formula and they seem better?

Baby excessive wind!

I’m at my wits end 😵‍💫

I can’t cope anymore! My little girl is 9 weeks and I’ve had this with her from week 2 roughly.

She has so much excessive wind. She has her bottle. I always get burps up. I know I can’t do anymore burping her. I get big burps after every bottle. I’d say minimally 3 big burps. The other night I got 7!

Yet every night, I’d say anywhere from 6pm she starts off with belly ache and it’s goes alllllll through the night.
It’s what wakes her up, I don’t even think she wakes for hunger. Even though I get a bottle ready.
It’s her belly.
Things I’ve done ⬇️

Bycycle legs,
Belly massage,
Tried colief drops,
Infacol,
Have her upright,
I’ve tried different burping positions, the one that works the best is moving her round in a circle and she brings one up straight away.
I’ve bought different bottles, she likes the lanisonh years the best. I’ve bought extra slow flow thinking is she drinking too fast. But nothing has worked.

I’m not getting more than 2 hour sleep and the only way I’m even getting that is if I hold her in bed, if I don’t do that I’d barely get 20 minutes because she’s squirming around with trapped wind.
Last night with her bottle before bedtime. She burped like normal but she passed wind about 11 times.

Please someone help 😵‍💫😵‍💫

Colief working?

Before I get to my question I want to say these forums are amazing. I get so much information and knowledge from other parents! It really is helping me so much!

Anyway… my nearly 9 week old has been consistently unhappy. Just a hard newborn. Doesn’t like being put down, doesn’t like her pram, reflux, excessively windy.

The reflux and wind has gotten worse over the last couple of weeks, so like we all do. Process of elimination.
I’ve ordered a few different bottles and different flow of teats. They’re on their way.

The HV came 2 weeks ago and saw my little girl had a rash and got onto the doctors and they prescribed me pepti 1 and colief. I personally didn’t feel she had CPMA. With a few extra face washes and cream the rash went.

We kept her on HIIP organic. This morning I saw the colief and decided to give it a go.
She’s had 2 bottles with it in and I’ve noticed her wind has dramatically reduced! I used to hear it gurgling in her belly but I couldn’t before.

Has anyone else noticed a difference so quickly? And if so did you carry on with the colief or try comfort formula?

Lip tie bottle recommendations

My 8 week old has a thick lip tie (or so I think)
NHS doesn’t release lip ties and he spoken to a private clinic who release tongue ties and they explained why not many people release lip ties.

But what my problem is, she’s got reflux, sometimes silent, sometimes it comes up. She’s taking so much wind in her feeds and I think this is the culprit of the reflux.

She had MAM bottles which she clicked all the time on.
I breastfed her but she couldn’t do a deep enough latch. (She had tongue tie and we got that released) but even after her release she couldn’t latch at all then.
I used a nipple shield however her reflux was even worse then. Guessing she managed to suck in the air still and because breast milk is thinner, it was easier for it to travel up.

I then got lansinoh tears which she was much better with the clicking. Only every now and then she clicks, but she still has milk at the sides of her mouth. When I watch her feed, every 2-3 sucks I see the sides open more and her suck in air.

Anyone recommend any bottles/tears for me to try with her??

Lip tie bottle recommendations

My little girl is 8 weeks old. From the day she was born I saw a very thick lip tie (albeit I never even knew what one was before but I saw it so obviously).

NHS don’t release lip ties and I’ve spoken to private clinics that do the tongue tie and they said lip ties can often grow back and worse with scar tissue.

She did have tongue tie and that’s been released and it’s been fine since.

We have tried the MAM bottles and she clicked A LOT! So we’ve tried the lansinoh teats size small. Now the clicking isn’t as much, it’s reduced loads but she’s still sucking in a lot of air and sometimes gulping.

I’m torn between trying a XS teat, maybe it’s too fast of a flow.
But maybe try some other bottles and see if that helps.

Anyone recommend some good ones in this case?

IF NOT CPMA WHAT?

I added a post earlier but didn’t know how to add pictures.

I’m really hoping it’s not CPMA but let me give you a little background.

Combi fed for the first 3 weeks, more or less breastmilk though.
Then more formula ended up being given when we had visitors. Started off with little spots which instantly thought baby eczema.

She was on Kendamil and I noticed during her feeds she seemed to grunt a lot, pause, lift legs up (even though she’d burped) struggled to poo. I read kendamil can be too rich for babies and HIIP was great from some mums perspectives.
HIIP it was as I wanted to stop breastfeeding slowly as it was becoming more difficult.

HIIP was better, she seemed to pass poo more and easier. She didn’t grunt the same but still seemed unhappy most of the day unless she was being fed or sleeping on me.

The spots did become more visible during feeds and some days looked like they clustered together.
She did have silent reflux and then it started to turn into more normal reflux and she’d bring back a little of milk. So carabel or gaviscon was introduced.

HV came Thursday and didn’t like how angry her rash was and got in touch with the doctor who’s prescribed her aptamil pepti 1.
I told the health visitor she had some stringy/sticky poo too. But could this have been because of the gaviscon?

I think I’m hoping it’s not an intolerance or allergy because realistically the rash is the most concerning. I know she’s an unhappy baby most of the time but are they all at this age? She has like maybe 1 hour a day where she’s alert and not moaning.
She doesn’t scream at a bottle, she doesn’t scream afterwards unless she’s got wind.

If anyone has any experience in this when it wasn’t CPMA or if it was and your baby only had the rash sort of speak.

CPMA rash or another type?

Baby has this rash in her face. Started around 3 weeks when we had introduced more formula. Could be completely coincidental. It has gotten worse over the weeks. Some days it looks so light and almost gone and then hours later it comes back.
This week especially it looks more angry.
HV came and wasn’t happy so ended up having aptamil pepti 1 prescribed.

Other than the rash she wasn’t showing huge signs other than fussiness, reflux and 2 little mucus poo’s that when I googled can be totally normal.
But could all that be just normal newborn?

I’m mainly worried about this rash and now I’ve started aptamil I’m worried it’s going to cause more problems.

Anyone had babies with a rash similar that wasn’t CPMA?

Kendamil gassy?

Hello, so I have a 4 week old little girl.
The first 6 days she was breastfed and then I read goat milk is very similar taste and digestible like breast milk. So we got Kendamil because Kendamil classic for my little bit (5 years ago) was great.

I noticed after a few days she was extremely gassy even though she’d burped whet I assumed was enough. She did have tongue tie so I assumed it was that. We had it released and still gas! So much of it, it’s like I heard it in her stomach as I was feeding even though we stopped to burp every 20-30ml.

I was still breastfeeding too and she’d burp no problem with that but her belly seemed like it was uncomfortable most of the day.
After 2 weeks combi feeding with goat, I read that goat caused some babies to be gassy and that some mums changed to the classic.

7 days ago we changed to classic to combi. At this point my milk has started to reduce because I had visitors and I didn’t feel comfortable feeding with them here. So she had more formula.
Saying that, we noticed she was more uncomfortable. She went 3 days without poo which I know is normal and when she did poo there was LOADS but all soft. But it made me think, if all the trumps that she needed to do couldn’t get through the poo, that must have been awful!

People keep saying change to comfort, whether it’s aptamil or sma or hipp.
But I didn’t feel comfortable changing the actual brand.
So I bought the Kendamil comfort today.

Did anyone ever notice extreme gas from their newborns from Kendamil?
More than the ‘norm’.
