Extremely high domestic shipping cost???

Hello,

I've just noticed that fromjapan is charging me 15300 yen for the domestic shipping cost for ONE single clothing item I purchased through Yahoo Japan Auction. I've never had anything remotely close to this high, has anyone had similar experience? Is there any way to dispute/verify the domestic shipping cost? Cost seems beyond ridiculous.

ECMS to Australia - Does it get handed off to AUS Post?

Do ECMS shipments get forwarded onto AUS Post to deliver once it arrives in AUS? I want to use a parcel locker as the delivery address and at the moment ecms looks like the cheapest shipping cost.

Thank you!

Frustration with customs and FromJapan's mistake

I have a package stuck in customs that was shipped by FedEx about a week ago (no other shipping carrier was available). The box is about 9 pounds and contains several anime model kits and a couple keychains, nothing out of the ordinary. Somehow FromJapan filled out the customs form and listed three of the models as "food chewy candy sugar 170490" and one as "clothes school uniform polyester 620339". This flagged the system asking for manufactures name and address and a PN (FDA Prior Notice) for the food.

I reached out to FromJapan support and initially they said:

"As a proxy service, we do not have access to this documentation. Please note that when using our service, you must provide all customs documentation directly to the shipping company or customs agency.

The prior notice must be transmitted to the FDA, and for the CPSC requirements, please ask the local office of the shipping company or local customs agency. Regarding the manufacturer's name and address, please search for this online. "

I pointed out they filled out the invoice incorrectly, they updated it and forwarded it to me and FedEx. Now the problem is FedEx still wants all the manufacturer information of everything now even though it doesn't meet the requirements. I have emailed at least three different employees and spoke to at least 5 different ones on the phone, they all just keep repeating it back that it is needed.

Has anyone else had this type of problem? I'm not even sure what the proper forms to fill out are. I have to do this for all 18 items in the shipment.

New Selection During Checkout

FJ seems to have some new selection during checkout for Charge 1 for "Country/Region of Delivery" that seems to lock items region for Charge 2. Doesn't seem to be a way to avoid it either. Its a forced selection whether its an auction or not. I think it just showed up today and some of the points are a bit contradictory so we'll see where this goes... I'm aware Paypal payment already had this restriction built in so it seems they are expanding the restriction further.

I think I give up on fromjapan..

Yikes. I can’t imagine what the shipping would be if bought in bulk. I live in the us. What is the problem?!!! (This was for two things btw.)

Anyone from the Philippines have experience with FJ orders shipped thru DHL?

Wanted to ask whether declaring the item "As gift" is a way to avoid excessing duties+VAT. Thanks!

FROMJAPAN / Ones Map shipping broke my vase and they are telling me to pay return shipping for full refund

I ordered a vase through FROM JAPAN. It arrived completely destroyed, literally broken into pieces during shipping.

I filed a damage claim for full refund under their Product Protection Plan. They then asked me in separate e-mail if I wanted a **full refund of Charge 1**. I said yes.

They never asked me to return the broken vase.

Later, they confirmed that management had approved the charge 1 refund and said **“no further action needed from your end.”**

Then I asked about **Charge 2** which by they product plan is also covered.

Suddenly, I was told that if I want Charge 2 refunded, I have to ship the broken vase back to them, **at my own expense**, including return shipping/customs costs.

So apparently:

**Broken vase + keep it = charge1 refund**

**Broken vase + return it at my expense = charge 1 and charge 2 refund**

The part that really bothers me is that the return requirement was never mentioned when they approved the compensation. It appeared only after I asked about Charge 2.

I’ve read their Product Protection Plan, but I’m not convinced their interpretation is correct.

Has anyone here dealt with a damaged-item claim through FROM JAPAN? Is it actually normal for them to make the customer pay return shipping for an item that arrived destroyed?

I’m considering disputing the payment if they refuse to apply their own rules. Would appreciate any advice from people who have dealt with them before.

FromJapan doesn’t let me enter links to buy from

Is this a bug or something? I go on surugaya or mandarake, copy the link, then paste it into fromjapan with no luck.

Will I get in trouble for not paying the Charge 2?

It’s my first time buying and I thought the shipping would be wayyyyy less. I’m not spending $35 on shipping for a $6 item 😔

Japan post incorrect address

Hello. I have a package coming from Japan Post. Unfortunately the seller put my old address. And it’s too late to change the address since it has left Japan already. What is the best option for me? TIA

U.S. customs questions: Is DDU cheaper for books/Blu-rays? Also, HS codes/descriptions for acrylic stands/keychains/badges?

Hey all! I'll be making my first shipment to the U.S. soon. I've been reading up on the customs/tariff stuff, but I'm still a little unsure about a few things, so I wanted to see what others here think...

I have 35 books, 3 magazines, 3 Blu-rays, plus a bunch of postcards, art prints, sticker sets, clear files, acrylic stands/keychains/badges, can badges, etc. in storage, and I'm thinking about dividing everything into two shipments.

Would it be cheaper to split the shipments by item type and send the books/Blu-rays/postcards via DDU (UPS/DHL)? From what I've read, media and paper goods are exempt from tariffs. But I previewed a shipment with just those items, and DDU was only a few thousand yen cheaper than DDP on Charge 2. Since I'd still have to pay duties/fees on delivery, I'm not sure it’s actually worth it. =/

Has anyone here in the U.S. shipped books/movies via DDU? Did you actually save much, or am I missing something?

Otherwise, I'd probably just split the shipments based on the warehouse storage dates instead of item type...

I'm also a little worried about the acrylic keychains and badges. I've seen some comments about customs asking for manufacturer info for keychains, and now I'm wondering if that could cause delays or other issues. I'd hate for the books/Blu-rays to get held up (or worse) just for being in the same shipment as some keychains/badges.

And if anyone here in the U.S. has gotten similar items through customs recently, I'd really appreciate knowing what HS codes/customs descriptions you used!

Thanks! <3

Storage deadline - discard at "1 days" or "0 days"?

Hi, I'm up against the storage deadline for an item but I'm hoping another one arrives today so I can ship them together.

Right now the counter reads "1 days until storage deadline" -- I've never pushed it this far before. I'm wonder, will they discard my item once the counter gets to 0, or do I have a final day at "0 days until storage deadline" where I can still ship?

Hope my question makes sense. Thank you

FromJapan stole my money??

Has this happened to anyone else?
I bought an item on August 3rd but during the transaction some “unspecified error” popped up
Then I saw that the item was still in my cart
FJ didn’t buy it.
But I was charged
So I assumed maybe the money wasn’t sent to FJ if they didn’t buy it so I’d get it back right?
But today I checked my bank account and saw that it doesn’t say “reserved” anymore
FJ took my money when the order was failed
I had bought it a second time which worked
But I’m so confused and upset why FJ just took it.. I had even contacted them that the order failed the day
I contacted FJ again and I really hope they’ll refund me
