writing from germany - a buddies GC8 has been having some issues.
some backstory: the car is a 1999 gc8 2.5 N/A, automatic.
the car always ran just fine, started up on first crank. after the car sat for around 3 months, it started having intermittant issues. sometimes it would start, sometimes it wouldn't. when it doesn't start, it cranks, but doesn't fire, no matter how long it cranks.
BUT - sometimes, the car starts, then instantly dies - like someone turned off the ignition.
then, after 5 or more ignition cycles, it starts up and runs just fine. there is a immo code in the ECM, but the immo light in the cluster doesn't light up (key is being detected) the coil in the ignition barrel is functioning fine, and even with the second key, the issue persists.

The crank position sensor has been replaced, and the fuel pump has been checked. even with the relay bridged for the fuel pump to run constantly, the car instantly does, or does not start.
we are very stumped with this issue - does anyone have any advice?

I found someone selling an ej20k and the Engine has 106k miles with having had the timing belt, water pump, cam seals and rear seals replaced very recently. They showed a dyno test it’s pushing 268hp(fine with me) and the compression came back at 140psi which from what I was able to gather, is bad for newer lower mileage motors but fine for higher mileage engines? He also stated that the engine has no issues with burning oil. Should I totally steer clear from this as a prospective engine swap candidate into my rs or is it actually a pretty good deal and safe to use. Any amount of help is useful

What do you use your GC/GF for? Here is my blue GF on its maiden voyage after I got the base setup done. This was a "street setup" with all-weather Yokohamas on Speedline ST2s during an Autox event at Summit Point, WV.

So everyone comes into their car of choice via some specific story for the most part. What brought you to yours?
For me it’s was this. That’s me and my team mate running the inaugural Appalachian Tarmac Rally Sprint on a 2000 GC8 Logged Rally Car with a bad head gasket. LoL Luckly my team manager let me set up the suspension myself and with a fresh set of federals I was able to place 4th overall. Granted… this was not because I’m some great driver. A couple cars hire in then rankings DNF’ed. LoL mainly and R5 car and a R2 car. 😅

Hallo, ich habe mal eine Frage bezüglich Reifen und dem Verteilergetriebe.

Ich habe vor ein paar Jahren einen gebrauchten Felgensatz gekauft auf dem Reifen aus dem Jahr 2016 waren Profiltiefe der Reifen war bei allen neuwertig. Anfang diesen Jahres habe ich mir dann hinten links einen Platten gefahren. Ich habe dann die Reifen hinten achsweise getauscht mit dem selben Reifen was verbaut war (neue toyo proxes tr1 Reifen. Unglücklicherweise habe ich jetzt wieder einen platten Reifen, allerdings vorne. Nun wollte ich wieder 2 neue Reifen für vorne bestellen (ebenfalls toyo proxes tr1). Leider läuft dieses Modell wohl aus und sind nicht mehr verfügbar. Meine Frage jetzt, kann ich andere Reifen Modelle nutzen (toyo comfort in den selben Maßen wie den Proxes tr1) oder sind diese problematisch?
