On a 2025 vw gli, I recently changed my tires & wheels set up to 235/40 Dimax Radar R8+ tires with Fast FCO4 8"x18" E40 wheels.
Ever since, I’m mainly feeling vibration in my steering wheel specially at high speeds.
Steering wheel is stable, there's no shaking, wobbling or pulling and i have complete control over the car even at speeds a high as 130-200 kph. I do feel the same amount of vibration on brake pedal but there's no pulsing and vibration doesn't escalate when i brake.
They're balanced properly and road force check (not balance) on hunter machine for both front tires came 6 & 8. After that I rotated my fronts to back and was still getting same vibration.
The plastic hub centric rings sit flush and tight on the center hub, but i noticed they all have stress marks and shears on them, one of them had a cracked piece on the outer edge. So I got aluminum ones, it seemed vibration got less intense, but it’s still there.
Bolts are cone shape not oem. But everytime i take them off, they leave some dust type residue on the wheels, not sure where they come from and not sure if it means bolts are cheap quality and is contributing to vibration!
What could the cause for vibration be? Do I need to spend the money on road force balancing, even tho road force check came back below 10? It’s driving me nuts after spending all this money…
What are you guys thinking about badgeless trunk and ducktail colormatch for my 24' GLI
Have a little shaking while braking. Time for new brakes! What's a good brake upgrade thats not ridiculously expensive? Hoping to do everything myself.
Hey Guys Im sure a lot of you saw but VW announced the 2027 lineup for all cars inducing the jetta. Its not looking like the GLI is getting ANYTHING new. Here is the excerpt from the Jetta Section. Ill also link the article.
"JETTA & JETTA GLI
The Jetta will continue to be offered in S, Sport, SE and SEL trims and the GLI will be available in one fully loaded Autobahn trim. The S and Sport trims get a number of upgrades for 2027, including the Composition Media infotainment system that adds satellite radio, voice control, two additional speakers for a total of six, as well as available Premium Speech with AI and Premium Radio. In addition, S and Sport now have KESSY keyless access and push-button start. All models have an enhanced rear seatbelt reminder."
How lucky could I be that after 6k miles that the valve guide seals are bad again on my GLI? At 47k miles the dealership repair it and now at 53k I am getting smoke at start up occasionally. Most days nothing, some days a lot, some days a little. This time the oil consumption doesn’t appear to be present like the last time. Pic for attention
Glad my SE was a total loss and upgraded to the GLI
Hello.
I'm looking for a way to jack the rear of my 2023 GLI up with a floor jack. I don't have room on the sides to place the hydraulic floor jack perpendicular to the side of the car so I am hoping that there is a place that I can jack the car up from the rear.
I have circled two places that may work. The pink circle is the rear control arm mount. The green circle looks to be part of the rear subframe. Would either of these places be OK to lift from? If not, is there somewhere else that someone has used successfully?
Thanks for the input!
Never posted her on here before but 32,XXX miles in and I’m enjoying everyday with her
Really love the springs - perfect for a daily driver on crappy roads.

Like many owners I’ve seen in this sub, I’d been suspecting for a while that the stock “VW Premium Audio System” subwoofer in my 2026 GLI was broken, because I literally could never hear any bass coming from it, even with the subwoofer setting maxed out in the EQ. Changing the sub level made absolutely zero difference to what I heard.
Today I finally took the subwoofer apart, and honestly I was shocked by how absurdly cheap this thing is. The enclosure itself is huge, but once I removed the cover, I realized the actual subwoofer inside is just this tiny little speaker sitting in one corner, barely taking up any space at all. It honestly feels like VW made the enclosure huge just to hide how tiny the actual driver is. And this thing is only 50 watts. The rest of the enclosure? Completely empty. Literally just a giant hollow plastic box with nothing inside.
It’s honestly hilarious in the worst way possible. And the speaker itself is super junk too — paper cone, bargain-bin garbage-tier stuff. I’m genuinely speechless. No wonder you can never hear anything from it inside the cabin.
This seriously lowered my opinion of Volkswagen. Their standards are way too low if they can call this a “Premium Audio System.” That name is basically a joke at this point. This “subwoofer”won’t cost them over $40. I’d much rather pay them a few hundred extra bucks for some speakers that’s at least somewhat decent.
I recently got a mbrp for my 2022 GLI and I find the tips to be a bit large and obnoxious, has anyone switched them to the 4 inch tips? Or something similar for a better price. It’s 200 cad for 2 4 inch tips from mbrp.
I’m going to do my front and rear brakes soon on my mk7 GLI I was watching a video and saw that some of the bolts are stretch bolts but the specific bolts weren’t shown. Which bolts do I have to replace? I bought the ATE semi metallic kit from FCP EURO
I went to get my car looked at because I’m burning oil and having a puff of blue smoke on cold start, leads me to believe it’s valve stem seals based on some research I’ve done and the pcv is working as intended. When I went in they said they won’t cover my head replacement due to aftermarket exhaust. Has anyone had there head or valve seals replaced with a aftermarket exhaust under warranty?
I was having issues with my alignment for about month. The car would drift and feel uneasy I bought new tires and knew it was time to get it sorted out. So I went to Firestone and they botched my alignment horribly the first time I took it 2 more times and they said the car had nothing wrong with the suspension. I finally just demanded my money back and took it to the VW dealer. They also did an inspection and found no suspension faults but that I have an uneven front right break pad wear 6/5. The car definitely feels better but I don’t know if it’s because I’m going crazy but very rarely it feels like it wants to drift again.
