Took my new gx470 on a long ish drive recently and heard this sound pretty consistently when driving at speeds higher than 65 mph on windy/open roads.

Is it the mud flaps? I certainly feel a vibration coming from the general wheel well area when this happens. Would be curious to know what everyone else thinks

Also, after driving on straight highways for an hour or two, when I perform sharp terms (slowly ofc, like when pulling into a gas station) I hear a whirring noise coming the drivers side engine bay. Pretty lost of either of these issues

Been contemplating about getting some new wheels. Which looks better? Black Gx with grey wheels or chrome? 🤔

Hello all. Noob question here:

Looking to lift my ‘22 GX for the cool look and also for offroading/all the outdoor activities I love to do.

I know little about this though so if you could QC what I’m buying here, I’d appreciate it very much.

This is for a 2.5” lift according to mudify. I don’t plan on doing any steel bumpers or armor but might do some aluminum bumpers/armor. I might also add rocksliders if that matters at all.

Am I missing anything or am I buying anything I definitely DO NOT need? I’m a pretty big subscriber to “buy once, cry once” so I’m not worried about something that will future proof the build.

As an aside, do y’all think this setup will still work if I someday intend to haul a dirtbike on the hitch?

Did about 4000 miles in a week for a bucket list trip to Moab and it did not disappoint. A couple nights on White Rim Road and a couple nights wandering public land. Kept it to fairly easy trails to not break anything before an 1800 mile drive home but I have no doubts the GX would’ve happily handled more than we did.

Does anyone know what this light is?

I noticed it last week when my 08 GX470 was off. Once you start it goes away.

2022 GX460 Premium/Black Line Special Edition

Experienced transmission failure post Lexus service @ 45,000 miles. I’ve heard <1% failure rate and 12 weeks to get a part. It is under warranty and covered. My assumption is transmission service error. Dealer is handling correctly but anyone have any insight into this seemingly hyper rare issue?

Finally joined the GXOR crew with my 2006 GX470 and figured I’d do the proper intro.

With a growing family, it was time to trade in my tuner lifestyle (VW GTI, Subaru STI) for something more family-friendly and snow-capable. This also means it’s my first automatic transmission. Sometimes I still hunt for the clutch when coming to a stop...

I do all the work myself, focusing on mechanical reliability first. While I like the overland look, it just isn’t reasonable for my needs or budget. I do a fair bit of mountain biking though, and getting to the trails can be sketchy, so moderate off-road capability is definitely useful.

Maintenance / Restoration:

• Timing belt
• Water pump
• Serpentine belt
• Front axle rebuilds (both sides)
• Inner tie rods (both sides)
• Outer tie rods (both sides)
• Sway bar links (both sides)
• Thermostat
• Spark plugs
• Power steering reservoir replacement (filter is built into the reservoir) & flush
• Greased everything: suspension, driveshafts, joints, doors, rear door lock-thingy, etc
• Sunroof reseal
• Seats refreshed
• Factory amp replaced (refurbished factory unit)
• Underbody/skid plate restoration, paint, & undercoat
• Fluids: rear diff, front diff, T-case, oil, trans w/ filter (broke 5 pan bolts...)

Mods / Upgrades:

• Bilstein shocks
• Eibach springs
• SPC upper control arms
• TRD rims w/ K02s
• Window trim chrome delete (Prado trim comes in black)
• SuperPro lower control arms (installing soon)
• Rear door molle panel
• Grill lights (always on/DRLs)
• Fog lights (hooked into factory controls - on w/ running lights and/or headlights)
• Plate lights (yellow, to match front lights)
• K&N intake. Didn't add noticeable performance but does sound better.
• MAF sensor mount (K&N MAF mount was questionable)
• Random touchscreen headunit
• Converted oval front door speakers to 6.5” round speakers
• Painted all logos black

Probably forgetting some small stuff. Still a work in progress, but the goal is a reliable, capable, and clean GX.

Currently at 152,722 miles runs and drives great.

The good stuff:
• Garage kept since 2018 in Tucson Arizona — no rust, no rot, clean undercarriage. Current seller owned and maintained since 2014. Colorado 2014-2018.
• Timing belt and water pump replaced at 95K miles
• Engine and drivetrain are solid — no leaks, no warning lights, no issues
• Low miles for the year — I work from home, so this thing barely got used
• 3rd row included, BFG tires purchased May 2025, suspension airbags replaced by Lexus Dealer in 2021, new dashboard replaced by Lexus dealer in 2016 (recall)

Honest about the cosmetics:
• Rock chips and door dings — could use a paint correction or respray
• Rear spoiler had a crack, repaired with bondo and touch-up paint
• Aux input works intermittently

Clean title. Private seller, no trades.

All mine now! Three years of ownership. Best vehicle I’ve had!

Just bought my first GX with 96k miles on it, pretty stoked.

So far I've only put a roof rack on it but plan to do a lot of mods in the future. Looking for suggestions.

I'm a big backpacker and love classic tent camping, but am looking to get more into car camping and some light/mediun off-roading.

Appreciate any recs.
