Coming from S24 Ultra where I ran Nova launcher for years. Just got my Fold 8 a week ago and I'm wondering what people are using.
It's my understanding that Nova and other launchers are not optimum for a fold, like different home screens, but I could be wrong.
I'm using Samsung but I miss the customizing of Nova
Bought fold 8 ultra on sale. I have a fold 8. I like my fold 8 but I just can't get over the main camera being worse. It is noticeable. I have young kids and take a lot of pictures. Also hard to hold this phone with one hand and take pictures without my finger being in the frame. I usually hold my phones with one hand while taking pictures or filming my kids and this is just a tough phone to do that with.
I had a fold 7 before so I know what to expect. Fold 8 is a great phone but I hope Samsung still keeps the fold 8 ultra skinny form factor. Front display is same size or larger then iPhone 18 pro so it's not like it's that skinny in actuall use.
I also miss flex mode. I usually don't have a stand so when eating breakfast or lunch I just prop it up with flex mode. I know tent mode exists but it's not the same because it's harder to navigate UI using tent mode. For example when leaving YouTube video YouTube app defaults to the portrait view.
My main reason for going back though are the cameras. I just can't sacrifice the better main camera when I have kids I want to capture. If I didn't have kids I probably wouldn't care. Fold 8 ultra will be my main phone.
I currently own the ZF8U. I've been trying to turn on the battery bypass feature in Game Booster, but the toggle is grayed out. On all of my past Z Folds, I was able to activate the feature. I'm using the same charger as in the past and the USB cable that came with the ZF8U, but the toggle remains grayed out. Has anyone had the same issue and gone through multiple charges and cables like I have, and what was your solution?
Edit: I finally got it to work, but it's weird. After reading a couple of replies, I thought I would see if it was some app or something on my ZF8U by firing up my old ZF5. I plugged the ZF5 in and saw that the feature was active, but within 10 seconds after enabling the feature, it also grayed out. So I tried again on my ZF8U, and the feature was active, so I toggled it on. I unplugged and plugged it in at least 20 times, and every time the feature became active. I'm now wondering if it was the charger?
Just as the title says, I am deeply hurt as I love the device and when I finally found a device that took me off apple’s ecosystem and hold…a device that you can not put down, this happens..
I have sent a device in as a trade in, Samsung provided me with a shipping bag and label and their courier and a few days after ive been Informed that the delivery of my device has been lost.
just to add, in the past when it comes to returning a device within 14 days Apple don’t ask questions, samsung threaten you with 20% deductions because you may have downloaded an app, please Samsung fix this.. you have a wonderful product but this is what I believe is stopping you from reaching the next level.
Shelling ZF8 with a clear case for Black Mirror Protocol
After being a iPhone user for 10 years I made the switch. Will still be using my iPad and MacBook but haven’t been this excited for a phone in a very long time.
Would love any tips related to switching, using Samsung OS, optimizing, cases, etc.
