Is this Pokémon XD disc dead?

Just got this disc as “untested” and sure enough, after selecting 60hz at the start, the game just throws “game disk could not be read” at me. Would resurfacing this disc bring back any life into it? I’m asking because there do seem to be some “nicks” to the front of the disc where some silver is shinning and I’m not sure if that immediately renders it as dead… The disc also shows a pretty big amount of scratches so I really am hopping resurfacing would bring it back… Thanks!

FlippyDrive finally coming, also heads up on price change n ups

Yesterday I got a text from UPS that a package from Crowd Supply was arriving today so after almost a year of ordering (did the math 274 days from the day I ordered) the Crowd Supply page says it’s shipping tomorrow and it shows “pre-order”

The short code of ups is
751-37 they also have 698-77 if anyone needs to know
(I order things from other websites so I can verify)

Just an FYI if anyone still ordering it

Also they went up on price I dont know if this was already talked about should had ordered 2

Any clue what chip goes here?

I bought a complete gamecube off FB marketplace for $5 it's silver with the digital av out but the seller said it was missing a chip on the motherboard that was preventing it from turning on.

This is unfixable, right? :(

I just got this japanese version of Smash Bros Melee that looked like it was in mint condition in the pictures when I bought it, but when it arrived it had this large crack. I suspect it was damaged during delivery. I don’t really know much about CD-care, but I just want to be sure if this is damaged beyond repair or not? :(

Minority Report ad insert

Never wanted Minority Report on GameCube until the Chicago Public Library had to have a CIB BluRay with this ad insert in it 😭

How bad is this Retro+ Digital HDMI adapter for the GameCube? Does it have the same issues as the Bitfunx one?

Does anybody know how bad (or how good) this Retroplus Digital hdmi adapter is? I found one review on YouTube which wasn't very detailed, and there was no way of knowing whether it has the same issue as the infamous Bitfunx model (though the Bitfunx model does still mostly work, as I understand it, it just has some issues).

Does anybody know which ones don't have the same issue as the Bitfunx one? Thank you.

I'm thinking of buying it for someone.

Iowa City Has Games!

Went to Iowa City on a work trip and found this at a little shop in the mall. ( I did eventually go back and snag Mario Sunshine as well)

One of my coworkers that I had only worked for a week and a half was a huge Nintendo fan from around town. He told me I should go check out this shop called Bartertown. I immediately bought the console and a few games that made my childhood.

GameCube Video Output Extension

Hello yall - is the N64 output and GC output the same? If that’s the case I have a bitfunx upscaler that I use for my GC. It is blocked by the sides of the n64 housing not being able to go into the slot.

Is there an extension/extender for the video output out there for this so I can use it? Thanks

My GC collection I built as a teenager

Collected most of these gamecube titles from 2012-2019, a few of them I got earlier. There's still some games I'd like to add like mario baseball, super monkey ball 1, the mario parties, and resident evils. Any suggestions for other stuff I should look to add?

Looking back at pre-Covid prices

I was looking back at my eBay purchase history earlier and I was shocked at how different prices were not even 10 years ago. What happened 😭

My Recent Haul From This Past Weekend

Beyond happy to be adding these 3 games into my collection, no matter how much Gamecube games can break the bank a bit nowadays lol. I bought Mario Golf online from Gamestop and the other two from a Flea Market. I am sooo looking forward to experiencing these games for the first time in my life, especially F-Zero GX with its super fast paced gameplay.

What are your guys’s thoughts on (or best memories with) these games? Is Sonic Heroes on Gamecube truly the best version of the game? Have you ever took a risk and ordered a Gamecube game from Gamestop’s website?

Vertical Bars Using HDMI Converter

I recently got an HDMI converter for my Gamecube (a Retrobit Prism) and have noticed that the output it provides has these vertical "jailbars" which are especially visible in the night skies of games, as seen in the attached photos, but they are always visible if I look. You might need to turn your screen brightness up to see them in the photos, as they are painter in the photo then in real life.

I cleaned my digital port with a q-tip and the issue remains. Has anyone else experienced this, or found a solution to it?

The current prices for Starfox on Ebay are insane!

I'm so glad I picked up my CIB copy of Starfox Adventures in October for 37$...literally every CIB I see is around 125$...absolutely insane. The Starfox Assault prices are even crazier...with averages being around 150-200$😵‍💫. I get they just announced a new game for the switch 2 but still. My only regret is not getting assault for when it was around 50$ 😭. I'm assuming it will go back down eventually just like Kirby Air Ride when that got announced for the switch 2?

Edit: it's not just GameCube...it's the 3DS as well LOL. so glad I bought that when I did too..people are insane.

Trying to find instructions on how to safely backup Gamecube OEM card saves to PC

I have a large catalogue of 100% completed save files I would love to safely backup to my laptop. I have 3 OEM cards, one of which houses my primary save files, the second houses the copied backups, and the third is used exclusively for save files that cannot be copied or moved. (PSO, Pokémon titles)

I am looking into how I can safely back all of these up (especially the Pokémon ones) to my PC. I see there are options such as GCMCE or the Memcard Pro, but from what I'm reading they would be unable to copy over the restricted saves, though it would be perfect for the unlocked ones.

I'm a bit of a purist, and would prefer not to mod anything. If somebody could direct me the right way, that would be great, thank you!

Full UK GameCube games

I decided a little over 3 years ago to try and get the full set, I started with around 50 from when it first came out.

There are still a few things I would like to collect like additional consoles, controllers and a GBA player. I also need to get a sleeve for the DK 2 bongos.

Next up I plan to play through some of the better games.

If anyone has any suggestions for some hidden gems please let me know.

(Third time trying, hopefully pictures upload this time!)

Is this a decent start?

Having to rebuild my GameCube collection since I had gotten rid of my original one years ago. Mostly trying to decide if I should jump the shark and get a high ticket game like chibi-robo, PN-03, or Twilight so early or stick to grinding out cheaper games.

Questions for long term Retro-Bit Prism users

GameCube has always been my favorite system. I finally got my self to buy one after what felt like close to 20 years! I have a Bravia 65 inch oled and after plugging in the prism HD adapter it’s already looks and runs better than my crappy $20 hdmi adapter I bought a while ago. With the size of my tv I am starting to think that is not meant to fill the entire screen. It fills up most of it and looks fine still. When I use wide mode to fill the black bars in the side it is still playable but of course stretches it out a bit. I would like to make sure I’m using this correctly and to its fullest! Random and not related my favorite game of all time is Metroid Prime!
