My GC living room setup is finally complete!
Love this little 9" CRT set up! Even got a comfy floor chair, so I can play my GC games while my wife plays the PS5. Feels like 2003 all over again 🥹.

Bought this GameCube for 20$. Was described as having overheating problems after an hour of playtime. As soon as i turned it on I knew exactly what was wrong with it 😭😭 sounded alittle too quiet 🤫 looked in the vent and fam was just not moving. 10$ fan replacement and she’s workin good now :)
Finally bought a GameCube at the age of 30, I know my parents would have bought me one if they had been able to . 7 year old me just thought they didn’t want me to have one lol .
The Game Boy Player (DOL-017) is the GameCube base attachment that lets you play Game Boy, Color and Advance carts on a GameCube and a batch of them that had arrived a while back finally made it to my bench for a recap.
What made these noteworthy: they are the first Game Boy Players I have ever opened that genuinely had leaking caps. I could smell it the moment I removed them. They use SMD electrolytics which I replaced with new ones from a Console5 GB Player cap kit, and after that everything ran fine.
One unit had a bonus issue. It would not boot anything and just showed the Nintendo logo with corrupted graphics. The cartridge slot had oxidised, so once I cleaned it out the carts booted and the logo came up clean. I ran Minish Cap and Game Boy Tetris through it to confirm.
Do you use a Game Boy Player as your way to play GB / GBA carts on the big screen, or do you prefer a different setup?
Just to get this out of the way first: I have an HMDI cable/converter adapter(less than a year old too), so it’s not a just matter of having the wrong hookups.
So I have this smart tv and I have my GameCube, it’s plugged in and hooked and up to the HDMI 2 port on the smart tv. I press the power button on the GameCube: it turns on. But when I turn the screen to HDMI 2, the game doesn’t show up on screen. It says “Check Device Power.”
That’s what it says when I have a console connected that’s turned off, but it says that for the GameCube even when it’s turned on. When I unplug the HDMI Cable, the screen reads, “HDMI Cable: Disconnected,” so it seems to recognize there was a device plugged in, but it won’t show up on screen when it’s turned on.
There doesn’t seem to be a problem with the GameCube’s AC adaptor or the hdmi cable, but it could it be some other problem with the console that I don’t know about.
The Samsung Smart Tv doesn’t have any problem connecting to my other consoles, and it even displays the consoles name’s instead of the input channel on “Connected Devices.”
From what I understand, at least on paper, the tv should be compatible with the GameCube. And while it wasn’t a smart tv, it did work on the last tv I had, which I only got rid of last November after it got fried during a thunderstorm.
Does anybody know what could be wrong? Is it just some weird business with the tv that I need to fix in settings or call some support number for? Or could there be something else wrong with my GameCube that I need to get looked at?
Finally scored a CIB copy of Four Swords Adventures, which marks my completion of the mainline Zeldas on GCN! All copies CIB. Couldn't be more stoked. Figured I would post a collection update as well.
I love the cube so much. It really is the greatest console ever made. Can't want to sang some more games (and a gameboy player for the other zeldas) soon!
As the title says! A friend of mine pointed me to a garage sale an hour from where I live and I found the big box for Mario Party 7 there! I don't think it was even intended to be up for sale, as it was just tucked away in a corner behind the owner's makeshift counter, only barely peeking out.
I convinced him to sell it to me and it's now mine! As soon as I got home, I took my copy off the shelf and slid it in the box, and I now have it proudly displayed on top of my GameCube shelf.
Rain can’t stop me from seeing fireworks 😤
Hope everyone had a good Fourth of July!
Hey, I have a Retro Prism GameCube Adapter with the (as of last being updated in 2021) firmware for it. And I've been trying to play some games in Progressive Scan mode.
But every time I turn it on, this weird line glitch thing keeps pooping up. And it's only for the in game gameplay/title screen/menu parts, not cutscenes or the like. I've tried messing with all the settings I can, and I don't know what's going on.
If someone could tell me how to fix this, that would be really great, as I just want to be able to play my games in the best quality possible on legit hardware.
I need to know what games there are that are similar to the nicktoons or tak games. Basically sly cooper with more combat. Any suggestions?
Time for recap
I think its finally time to recap my gamecube. Went to play a couple games this morning and at first it didnt recognize a disc was in the gc and then it was giving me an error. Any tips as it would be first time recapping.
Hi there, I’ve got a chance to grab a modded Panasonic cube. It’s got Swiss installed as well as a region switch so I can play my English and Japanese games. The DVD drive has been flashed as well. It has the original remote and controller. I’m planning to go check it out tomorrow. Wondering what people here think as far as questions I should ask and a fair offer might be? Right now I’m thinking $1,000-$1,200 range.
Thanks!
Finally done with everything.
Feels like it was released today:D So timeless
What i did:
-Flippydrive
-New shell
-New Controller shell
-Paracord (Never again)
-Kaico upscaler
I was thinking earlier do you guys thing the GameCube could have ran smash bros brawl?
It works fine but the exposed wire makes me nervous.
Obviously Assault is a hard-to-find game as is (dug this out of storage and mine still has the 10$ sticker on it 😢) but anyways, I can’t really find another copy with this “Best Seller” badge on it WITHOUT the “Player’s Choice” up on top. Anyone have any info on this? Appreciate any help! Missing manual unfortunately :(
The trick is to use the orange GameCube controller for gaming, so that the Cheetos dust blends right in.
