Does anyone ever receive gifts from pax, being the gate agent? Or only the flight attendants get all the glory ?

Attention all gate agents! Does it not infuriate you to no end when passengers shamelessly hand out gift cards, snacks, and presents to the flight attendants—while you, the one actually busting your behind, are left empty-handed? It’s downright aggravating! Us as gate agents are slogging through the chaos, trying to coordinate the manifest on those passengers’ flights—yet somehow, no one thinks to acknowledge our hard work! And let’s not forget, after five or more gates in a single stretch with ZERO breaks, with not a moment to jot down notes because the next plane is already rolling onto the taxiway—do they even care? I consider myself a remarkably patient and kind gate agent, but honestly, it’s maddening that I never, ever get a single gift from the passengers. Anyone else experiencing this frustration ? Or is it just me lol

To Tessie the AA Gate Agent at DFW

I apologize if I have misspelled your name. Thank you for your grace and kindness the evening of 6/27/26 at gate B3A in DFW for the flight to XNA. I hadn’t planned for the Skylink tram to be closed on the side that goes in the opposite direction. It added an extra 15-18 minutes of time and it was too late by the time I realized it. The flight took off at 10:31 pm, so I had expected to stay the night in Dallas and get rebooked for the next morning when I ran up to the gate at 10:18 pm. The door was already closed. You were extremely kind and opened the door when you didn’t have to. Thank you so much!

I emailed corporate, but I’m not sure if compliments and thank yous make it to the employee.

Passengers trying to put things in checked bags

This is specifically a question for gate and ticket counter agents. TSA screener here. I've noticed that it's very common for my coworkers and often encouraged by our management, depending on the airport, to tell passengers that they can try to put items that can't go through the passenger checkpoint into their already checked bag. I have to imagine that this doesn't go over well with airline employees at the ticket counter, and attempting to retrieve checked bags that have already gone through is probably a huge headache and causes problems, as well as passengers becoming irate when they're told no. Where I was before, this was discouraged and Alaska really hated it when it happened, but at my new airport, everyone does it. Is it really a nuisance that happens a lot, or is it not a big deal? I try to avoid it

Delta Ticket/Gate Agent Hiring Process

Hi. I recently applied for the ticket/gate agent position for Delta, but have not heard anything after I did my assessment. Is it normal to not hear anything after almost 10 days? My status just says application under review.
