Update: Battery drain

I posted last week about my new EX5 Inspire losing 20% charge just sitting in the garage for a few days. I think I’ve found a solution so thought I’d share an update for anyone who’s interested.

After charging (not fully) and driving it again, I parked it on Thursday night with 80%. Before leaving it, I went into the settings and turned off both the wifi and the bluetooth. Then I turned off the a/c via the button on the middle console.

I’ve checked the app periodically over the weekend and there has been no drain. I just double checked the car itself (Monday lunchtime) and it is still sitting on 80%.

Hope this helps if anyone else encounters similar issues with battery drain while the car is not in use. FWIW, my car wasn’t connecting to the wifi anyway so that’s no loss, and I haven’t found it difficult to reconnect my phone via bluetooth (yet). The interior of the car was quite chilly compared to last week though so I suspect the a/c was the main culprit.

Height adjustment on passenger seat

Has anyone figured out if there is some kind of manual adjustment for the passenger seat in the ex5 inspire? It’d be great to have the option to lower it a bit if needed.

Help with charger configuration

Ive recently had a sparky install my charger for me however i am struggling to find the right info on the charger to configure it. Its the Artemis Smart charger that Geely provide in SA via Revcharge. Charger model: AC0070EN02525

I can connect to the charger via its wifi but struggling with the username and password to login to it. Any of the config guides i have found online (such as this one: https://jetcharge.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/4066-Artemis-7-11KW-AC-Charger-User-Manual-v6.pdf )

I have reached out to Revcharge as well as the manufacturer Starcharge but thought i would see if anyone here could help! Cheers :)

Geely EX5 Privacy Glass and Tint

Hi everyone,

The Geely EX5 already comes with privacy glass on the rear windows.

Has anyone added window tint on the rear windows as well?

Did you have any issues with it, and do the rear windows look similar to the front ones after tinting, or is there a noticeable difference?

Thank you!

How to track home & public charging for novated lease?

I am trying to work out how to track how many kW are charged at home vs at public chargers so that I can accurately claim for my novated lease. I can't seem to find on the Geely app how many kW were added from a charge (only the km and %). Do I need a different app?

Comprehensive insurance

Hey guys

I’m going to pick up my car next week and wanted to check what’s the best and cheapest company you’ve found? Based on the comments, it seem like it’s AAMI but wanted to check with others in SE Melbourne.

Thanks

Edit: AAMI quoted $1.3K

Geely App Location Issue

Hi everyone,

Has anyone had an issue locating their car through the Geely app?

In my case, the app is not showing the correct location of the car.

Has anyone experienced this or knows how to fix it?

Thank you!

I was delivered a Geely with the wrong VIN number

My previous post outlined the horrendous experience I’ve had with Geely Leichhardt (I am now naming them).

Well today I’ve found out that I was given a vehicle with a VIN number that doesn’t match my contract or tax receipt.

- I dont know if I’ve been driving around uninsured

- my lease is in the other VIN number - no idea what the implication is of this

- am I even registered?

Explains why it’s been weeks and my profile and connectivity never worked.

I’m honestly at the end of it and just want to hand the vehicle back.

When did you get your mats?

I got the car two weeks ago and am still waiting for the mats to arrive. I got the electric charger within two days. The app is still not working. I submitted feedback through the app, but still nothing. I'm feeling pretty frustrated.

Extremely Satisfied.

This full EV EX5 has been one of the great choices I've taken in life, and I'm super satisfied with the value for cost ratio.

But, GEELY shall be working on the following to make their EVs on the top high-end against their rivals:

  1. Take more care and thoughts for your customer user experience for every car model you sell, especially when it comes to a full EV model. (it's a butterfly effect).
  2. Provide a Mobile APP for users in other regions such as (UAE), for some reason the APP is only available for EX5-emi models and not the full EVs, which doesn't make any sense.
  3. Speaking to GEELY car is vey limited on functions and not that smooth. (plenty of bugs)
  4. Please, an Actually Smart Summon feature software updates. (Reference Tesla)
  5. Please, a Dumb Summon feature software updates. (Reference Tesla)
  6. Please, a Self-parking feature software updates. (Reference Tesla)

Other than that, the this EX5 is flawless, and I can't wait to see how it'll evolve.

Thank you GEELY and team for the amazing visionary work you're doing and the amazing products that you're delivering.

ex5 12v battery totally dead

My car was left at a car shop with 3% battery left, making the 12v battery uncharged. Now I need to jump-start my car before running it, since the doors won't open due to the 12v battery losing its power. When checked, the SOC and SOH are still at 98%. Even after charging the 12v battery using an external 12v charger, the batery won't store power and will be losing power after 1 or 2 hours.

Recommended Geely Settings

Hi everyone,

For those who have already picked up their Geely, what are the main settings you recommend changing or activating at the beginning?

I know this is personal, but I believe some settings are almost basic to improve the experience with the car.

If you can share what you changed or enabled, that would be very helpful.

Thank you!

My first 1000km

I've had the car for less than a week in Perth, where the weather has been rather damp. Just thought I would share some insights I've had, and also some questions for those playing along at home.

I have the inspire my27, for the biggest trip there were 3 adults in the car, in the rain, driving 130km each direction and averaged 80km per hours. My dynamic range says 400km, which to be honest was a lot better than I was expecting, I was planning for a stop on the way home, but I got home with well over 100km range left. This includes uphill sections (Greenmount for those in the know).

The heater is good at keeping a constant heat, but doesn't feel like it gets really hot. Which most of the time is just the best, but sometimes I want that scorched earth setting. Understand this is a limitation with electric - it's my first.

ICC (Cruise control) is pointless on the open road. The amount of times it would tell me the speed had changed to 80, or even at one point 60, I couldn't use the autoslow down, and around some of the corners on the great eastern that you can easily take over the speed limit - it tried to slow to 90km. I do like the lane assist. Though especially when cars with lights that outshine the sun go past when cornering.

ICC on a busy roe highway, or going down or up the greenmount is life changing in all the good ways. So I now tend to only use it on roads that are 80km or under.

I drive 90km in each direction for work, averaging 80ish km, and at the end of the day, I'm getting home with a smidge over 200km left, and that's using AC, comfort driving, low regen, and the odd massage.

I've turned off most of the bings and bongs, that setting the button to do that - is a godsend. Best thing ever. The fatigue setting was just too sensitive. I check my mirrors, bong. So she's gone.

Hi Geely, even though it's turned on, doesn't work half the time for me, she doesn't want to activate, so it gets a touch annoying when I want to do certain things, and have to try and use the touch screen.

Driving is just amazing. I know people knock the front wheel drive, and also the floaty nature, but for me, I'm use to that, and so for me, makes an incredibly comfortable drive.

The car goes to sleep, deep sleep. If the car isn't plugged into the charger, or within a short period I can't control it. Not an issue now, but would like to be able to cool the car in summer remotely. I won't be able to do this without setting a schedule. Which brings me to my next point - the schedule. Having only one sucks, I would prefer to be able to set up multiple, as I leave at different times both to work, and home again depending on the day. Minor thing.

No holder for the charger caps. How?? You have to leave them dangling and I just think they missed something that would make it a little tidier, and just that little bit of thought.

Radio - I seldom use radio, but everytime I start it - firmware update, fail. Doesn't matter whether it's 4G, hot spot, wifi, fails straight away. At least have an option do not ask again for this version. Minor thing.

The lack of customisation of the touch screen is insane. To me this has to be my biggest issue - which is great considering it's minor. Android Auto, it asks me to connect everytime. The camera won't sit on top of google maps (I'm going to try normal maps tonight), just little things.

I paired it with an evnex flex 2 charger for home, and I love the combo. I'm really happy with my purchase. The car goes further on a charge than I expected (using dynamic so to my driving), has the nice little things for my aging ass, and things that I think are easy fixes (being more software than physical).

Happy to answer any questions on it, if you're looking at getting. Mine took 7 weeks to get here.

Can someone from Geely PLEASE HELP ME

I finally took delivery of a brand new Geely EX5 MY27 3 weeks ago

My experience…… has frankly been the worst experience I have had buying any product…. Ever.

0 proactive contact from the dealership, days with no response to emails or enquiries. Completely unable to get the salesperson on the phone. My car sat at the dealership for weeks and no one bothered to contact me until I escalated through a contact who knew someone there. My lease had already started as the dealer told them the car was delivered! I only found out because I got an email from the lease company!

My car was eventually delivered (with a multitude of sorrys) with no mats (they were ordered weeks before) and the salesperson didn’t even go through the basics of the vehicle with me.

I still have no mats, my deposit refund (it is a lease) still hasn’t been processed and the profile set up on the car (despite asking for it to be done with delivery) is still not done.

I have logged a ticket through the app with no response.

Is there a rep from Geely here who can help me? It’s a nice enough vehicle, but I’ve absolutely lost all enthusiasm for the product due to the sales process and abysmal Geely experience.

I’ve gone from someone who loved the brand to an active detractor. If you’re on the fence about a Geely, honestly save yourself the heartache. It’s been a huge let down at every step.

Voice Assistant

I would've thought the voice assistant is smart and capable of recognising keywords from a prompt, but it needs to be told in a specific way.

Eg. Works for "turn on seat heating" but not "turn on heating for the seat".

Has anyone gotten it turn on massaging? "Turn on seat massaging" does not work.

Battery drain when parked?

I picked up my EX5 Inspire ER last week. On Saturday, I took it out for a bit of a drive and to run some errands so I could get used to it and adjust some settings in a more relaxed way. When I got home, the battery level was 91%. I worked from home the last couple days so it hasn’t been used since. Out of curiosity, I just opened the app to see what the battery level was after a few days of non-use and it’s now sitting at 71%.

Is that normal for the battery level to drop 20% in 3 days? Are there settings that I need to check/turn off to avoid the battery being drained?

I’m also curious about how I’d go leaving it at the airport while on holidays (I usually drive myself). The dealer said there’d be no issues but now I wonder if the battery would die before I returned…

Update: drove to the office today (roughly 20km), parked in parking garage for 8-9 hours then back home again. Checked battery and it had dropped another 10% since last night 😮 It’s currently charging (granny charger) but I’m in the office tomorrow so don’t think I’ll be able to charge it to 100% so assume that will mess up any potential calibration.

Granny charger early turnoff

Currently using the Granny Charger on our MY27 EX5 Inspire, pending 7 kW install in 2 weeks.

Set the schedule to charge for 00:00 - 06:00 (AGL 8c EV plan).

Checked the Geely App at 13:00 today, and see that charger stopped charging after just 36 minutes last night, leaving car at 42%.

Wondering why it didn't keep going for the full 6 hrs.

Anyone else had similar experiences?

TIA.

Leaving key in car

Edit: okay I’m definitely locking the car when it’s in my garage

Before we got this car, typically I would leave my keys in the car when they’re in our garage, but we’re sceptical to try with the Geely.

Just wondering if anyone leaves theirs in the car, and if so, does it stay on the whole time or does it turn off?
