Quality

are Season 3 feels genuinely off?. The Season 1 adaptation was the best; Season 2 did see a drop in quality—whether in terms of animation or the many scenes cut from the manga—but it was still enjoyable. In Season 3, the facial expressions feel disconnected from the bodies; it looks like faces were just pasted onto bodies with minimal movement, breaking the characters' sense of continuity. It turned into a generic, mass-produced anime that prioritizes quantity over quality. Grand Blue has a unique identity, yet in Season 3, Iori loses his signature "scumbag" vibe, and Chisa is reduced to a run-of-the-mill heroine, lacking the cuteness that was previously emphasized. Even the opening sequence is vastly different; the original opening used diving imagery to mask the fact that comedy was the main focus, whereas the new one highlights cringeworthy comedy instead.

Is it just me or was the animation this episode weird?

I mean, I was expecting something more polished, not just in this episode, but in the season as a whole. And I'll be honest, that kinda bummed me out, especially for this part that I consider one of the best moments in Grand Blue. But maybe it's just me.

(S3E7) Im so happy with this episode

Grand Blue has been my favorite anime/mangá since 2019 when I was 14yo, and I remember that I finally caught up with the mangá when chapter 57 came out. Now seeing this chapter fully animated 7 years later really made cry, I've been a Grand Blue fan for almost 10 years! It's a strange but also very good feeling and I want to be here, reading and watching it until the end

I love Grand Blue 💙

The only complaint about season 3

For me this has potential tk be the best season, but the only bad thing is that they did not hire shonan no kaze to do the intro to the 3rd season :(

ramblings (and guesses) about the ending

i'm guessing the manga will "end" with the veterans retiring and the main group taking over PaB (not exactly guessing, because it seems to be the natural cycle of things, BUT, nothing is confirmed so it's just a prediction) with maybe an epilogue chapter showing them welcoming the new members, just like Iori was received, and in the best-case scenario, a time-skip chapter with the group already adults (veeeeery unlikely).

okay, getting back to the main point, in the manga's chronology, we're probably getting close to christmas, and that would only be about 4-5 months away for the veterans to retire (that is, taking into account that graduation at japanese universities is NORMALLY in march.)

of course, it took more than 10 years to get to december at the current pace, but several main plot lines are being wrapped up, and of course², the author can always create more from one moment to the next since he's the one who holds the pen. since I've been working with hypotheses so far, I can't simply rule this one out, however, with the material available so far, it's impossible to conclude that it's not heading towards a natural conclusion.

off the top of my head, I can only remember arcs that still need to happen, such as the veterans' retirement cruise (i'd guess that's the second-to-last or even the last major arc), and the rangiroa trip (also, great potential for a final arc, and it doesn't seem that far off...), taking into account that grand blue, in its longest arc, didn't even reach 10 chapters, i'd guess that the two together should amount to maybe 15 or 16 chapters at most, and with perhaps some mini-arcs embedded with extras and more "common" chapters, it could be rounded up to another 30-35 chapters in the most optimistic scenario, which would take less than 3 years to finish, if the author Not taking too much of a gap, of course, considering the likely gaps, maybe 3 and a half years.

well, it's definitely a journey, and even though I'd like this manga to continue as long as the author can write in a healthy way, I'm also eager to read the ending.

and what about you guys? What stage do you think we're at in the manga? do you think the end is near, or is it just nonsense?

A slide from Fairy Tail of Natsu reminded me of Mitarai

The resemblance here was uncanny. That's it.

Possible drop

I started the anime, and im on episode five. This shit is hot ass does it improve or should i not waste anymore my time?

Edit - i see people arent appreciative in my wording, and i get it. I can admit saying it was “hot ass” was a stretch. A more reasonable way to put it is, it got old/boring for me extremely quick. The episodes i had seen felt very repetitive, which was starting to turn me off to it. So i wanted to see what people had to say about the future episodes to come and if that would cease to be the case
