Looking to join a hike (August long weekend)

Hey, I’m from Grande Prairie and looking to get out hiking for the long weekend — anywhere in Alberta or BC works.

No car, but happy to split gas if anyone’s driving and wouldn’t mind me tagging along. I just want to get out and go hiking.

If anyone’s heading out, let me know 👍

Found Keys at old comp site.

Someone lost their keys at the old Comp site. Maybe watching fireworks? Spread the word and let’s find the owner.

This is not a yield or a stop sign.

The amount of people that treat this as a yield or stop sign is insane. That lane on the right is your lane. You don’t need to stop in the middle of the road.

Looking for cannabis seeds locally

I'm a medical cannabis user looking for seeds locally. I'm tired of getting burnt online and the medical database is a nightmare to navigate

I'm really looking for Yumbolt seeds or clones. Does anyone have or could help me out in sourcing?

TIA!

New in GP-what should I know?

Hey everyone,

Hi everyone! I recently moved to Grande Prairie and I’m still getting familiar with the city. As a woman living here alone, I’d love to hear from locals—which areas should I avoid, especially in the evenings or at night? Also, are there any neighborhoods or places where you recommend being extra cautious?

I’d really appreciate any tips or advice. Thank you!

Best place to watch a sunset?

Hey all, I’m headed up to Grande Prairie for a few days to go out with a girl and am wondering the best spot in or outside of Grande Prairie to watch the sunset. I’ve heard Richmond Hill and Muskoseepi Park are good, but I don’t have any clue where to actually watch the sunset from those places so a Google Maps pin would be great! Or any other places that work, ideally no more then a 15 minute drive outside of the city and preferably closer to Sexsmith if possible

How do you manage in this conservative hellspace?

I’m originally from the east coast, my parents are progressive conservative so they were tolerable. I’m a left leaning person, engaged to another left leaning individual. We moved here to help my family, who have no moved back home. My fiance likes it here he is… ignorant to a lot of political stuff but with how the province is getting I want to move tf home. I have no family and he has hours mom who lives in Edmonton. I have no friends, no family And my job could transfer me back to New Brunswick. I see the education my coworkers children are getting and I’m not impressed by it. We had a baby last year and I’m worried about how she would grow up the kind of things she would learn from her peers. I straight up heard a child say that he was sad his friend Charlie Kirk died. This is not the environment I want my daughter to grow up in. He wants to stay. I want to leave and go home to my family. I don’t want to break up with him he is the love of my life and the father of my baby, but I don’t know how to TOLERATE living here. He wants me to give it a year in Edmonton, and see how I feel maybe it would be better in a bigger city where there’s more NDP support, instead of grande prairie where you could put a conservative sash on a chicken and people would vote for it.
I need people who are left leaning who believe in science, that vaccines work, people who are supportive of the entire LGBTQ community. And people who don’t hate the disabled. I need to feel like I’m not alone.

Also I saw someone tried to comment and I’m assuming it got deleted; but I don’t know where you got the opinion that I have a ‘drug dependency’ issue? Is it because I said I was on antidepressants? Well that would be because I suffered from postpartum depression and anxiety. So weird that you consider an ssri a drug dependency

I don't know what to do!

I have a 19 year old step son that is an absolute pos! He has attacked his older sister 3 times, 2 of which he tried to throw her down the stairs! He actively yells, and screams at me! Has called the cops on me when I defend myself (nothing gets done)! Actively yells at his mother! I can't lay a hand on him in defense because the cops have out right told me I will be the one to get charged!! I can't leave because my youngest can't come with me due to family court bias, and she already has severe anxiety because of this garbage!! He has legitimately stocked his own mother by tracking her location!! There is so much more i could say!

I need outside help!!

AI Data Centre Protest Today June 27, 2 PM at City Hall

AI Data Centre Protest Today — June 27, 2 PM at City Hall

There will be a protest today, June 27, at 2 PM outside City Hall regarding the proposed AI/data centre development.

This is not about being “anti-technology.” It is about asking basic questions before our land, water, power grid, and public infrastructure are handed over to another industry making big promises.

Data centres use massive amounts of electricity and can require serious water and cooling infrastructure. Before anything moves forward, the public deserves real answers

Who was consulted?

How much power will this use?

How much water will this require?

Who pays if infrastructure needs to be upgraded?

What are the environmental impacts?

What are the actual long-term benefits for local residents?

Whos paying for the bailout when the AI bubble pops?

And why should communities carry the burden while private companies collect the profit?

Water is life. Public power matters. Community consent matters. Consultation should not be treated like an afterthought.

If it needs our water, our land, our grid, and our public tolerance, then the public deserves a say.

Today, June 27

2 PM

City Hall

Bring signs, bring questions, bring your outside voice. And maybe an umbrella 😂

Considering moving to GP

25 year old male here. Currently living in a small town about an hour or so away from the city. Seriously looking at selling my current home, or renting it out, and making the move to GP. So any help would be appreciated. If I go down the renting road, what are some recommendations for condos? I’ve heard good things about the building in Royal Oaks, the ones right close to the Den. Looking for something preferably up to date, clean, and reasonably safe. May look at renting some homes as well, any advice is welcome! For work, currently, I’ve spent the last 7 years in seniors care. Good work, but busy work. Wouldn’t mind doing the same thing in GP, but also wouldn’t mind a change. Currently making good money with shift differentials (shift work) so would want something that actually pays the bills. And would generally, hopefully, like to make some friends! I only have a small amount of family and two friends that live in the city, so it’s all a little daunting. Thanks everyone!

Question

Hello! I’m in real need of a tent, one that works, if someone isn’t using one, I need one asap. I feel bad making this post, but I’m afraid with rent being high I won’t have anywhere to go and a tent is the best option.
