Could Emma's transformation in Season 1 Episode 1 be a metaphor for chronic illness?

Emma spent her whole life training to become a professional swimmer, she even swam when she was sick. She was absolutely devastated that she had to give up. She never asked to be a mermaid and now she has to give up on her life long dream, because something happened to her body that she has no control over. She can never compete in the sport she loves ever again being a mermaid. So you could compare that to her developing a chronic illness that means she can no longer swim..

Cleo made Charlotte a villain

Edit: yea yall are right she’s just a bitch, watched a few more episodes and it’s really starting to show now. But I’ll leave my post up I like the discussion. At the beginning of season 2 when Cleo sees that Charlotte likes Lewis, Cleo is so unnecessarily mean to her. Snooping through her diary, making accusations, spying on Lewis and Charlotte, and being rude. Also Cleo broke up with Lewis but still wants him to be stuck on her. I haven’t watched the show in a while and I’m sure there will be more reasons for me to hate Charlotte soon but come on, Cleo turned her into a villain. Also Charlotte is trying to be peaceful to Cleo at first but she keeps getting met with side eye and rudeness. Also Lewis is to blame also bc he was leading Charlotte on and saying her while still being in love with Cleo. If Lewis was my boyfriend I wouldn’t want him having any ties to his ex. Believe me tho I HATE Charlotte she took things too far but let’s be fr Cleo wasn’t this innocent girl who did nothing wrong. Im watching the show rn im on s2 e9 and Ik that Charlotte gets worse but right now she isn’t doing anything wrong except be an outsider who likes Lewis. Also I wanted to just reiterate that I know Charlotte gets a whole lot worse and takes things too far. I need to edit and say that I absolutely loathe Charlotte and think she’s terrible majority of the season I just wanted to call out Cleo for being unfairly rude to Charolette at least up the part of the show I’m at which is episode 9 season 2

Unpopular opinion about Bella

Honestly, I feel like Bella could’ve had her own season. Out of all the girls, she probably had the most interesting backstory since she was already a mermaid before coming to Australia. We barely got any information about her life before joining the group, where she came from etc. A standalone season could’ve expanded the whole lore way beyond Mako Island and could’ve shown us a completely new side of the mermaid world. I feel like Bella’s character was just kinda adjusted to fit the girls and the theme of season 3 that’s why some people don’t really like Bella.

always bothered me they never sat down before transforming

it’s one thing if your running for your life, but in private they always chose to just, fall over. it just looks painful and annoying. why not just sit down when you can. not a single time in all 3 season of h20 or mako mermaids did they just sit down. just chose to eat dirt

I made a “which character are you” H2O quiz :)

I thought I’d share this where people might like it :) I based it off of the original 3 mermaids and mostly the first season. I love making quizzes like this and I thought I’d do H2O

Things I would have loved to have seen in the show

  1. A spinoff about Miss Chatham and her friends. I think it would have been cool to see their own individual journeys and personalities, where they hung out, and the gorgeous period accurate costumes that we’d get to see.

  2. How the parents would have reacted if they did find out the girls’ secret. I picture Don reacting the best to it due to his work with fishing and how active in his daughter’s lives he seems to be. I think Emma’s parents would have freaked out and told a doctor and it would have been a big issue. Rikki’s dad probably would have been cool with it but we only saw one episode with him in it.

  3. Obviously Claire Holt in season three but I understand she wanted to do different things.

These are the things right off the top of my head, but I want to know what you all would want to see.

Juice bar?

How much money do these girls spend on juice? I'm not criticizing or anything I'm actually curious if anyone elsse has thought about how much money these guys spend on juice. Almost all of the characters that show up more then once have been to the juice bar! I just found it sort of funny to think about like rikki doesnt really have a job but shes always got a drink do you think the other girls pay for it or does rikki have some other way of making money in her free time?

Is it worth it to check out the animated series?

I was a teenager when the first two seasons of H2o came out and I've always been a big fan of the live action show, recently I found out there was an animated spin off and was wondering if there's anything in it for adult fans or if it's more a generic kids show.

Does anyone on here recommend it?

If you could choose to be a mermaid, which one would you be? What power is your favorite?

I love Emma's power

Logistics of the H2O universe?

If I were to write a novella or a longer fiction piece and use the magical system that is established in H2O, would I need to watch Mako Mermaids as well ? I know we see there are other moon pools with Bella, but in general from what I understand is

  1. any water outside of your body turns you into a mermaid

2)to be in a moon pool on a full moon makes you a mermaid or if already a mermaid can take your powers away for 12 hours (or completely once every 50 years)

  1. the rate they turn into mermaids is determined by how much water actually touched them so the more water means the quicker they will turn

  2. their powers from the basic three they got originally would be normal for a core moon pool but something like the smaller moon pool could give out the coagulation power that Bella has

  3. the extra powers the girls got were from a different full moon episode, and would require all three mermaids to be present in the pool to receive them

  4. the moon pool would be located somewhere that typically is closed off like how Mako is surrounded by sharks and why most people don’t go there besides the daredevils and the insane like Charlotte

Are there any other worldly system things I missed ? I couldn’t think of anything for the later half of season three since I haven’t watched that far yet !

breaking my silence i hate that they changed the girls’ necklaces in season 3

in the first 2 seasons the lockets with the 3 girls were so special and they meant so much because it was from the original 3 mermaids gracie louise and julia. the whole thing of ms chatham passing the lockets on to them and rikki getting hers being a big deal, and then season 2 cleo and lewis talking to max about the locket at the bottom of the moon pool. it was just such a big part of the plot tbh and it sucks that it was just erased when season 3 came around. i like the blue necklaces a lot and i appreciate the show for making the new trio special but i have to admit, rewatching now, its kind of bugging me that they just switch necklaces. 💔

S Has anyone here ever taken a bath on a full moon night?

When I saw H2O, I thought that if I bathed in a full moon like the girls, maybe I'd turn into a mermaid.
