Mrs Revenge

Did TVB used extra filter on Joe Ma? Even with HD his skin looks smoother and dewier than his other shows.

Thoughts after finishing Mrs. Revenge 夫妻博弈 (spoilers)

As someone who knows the general storyline of the original Korean drama / manhwa.

• I actually enjoyed it mostly because of Mark and Sherman (and even his mum’s) characters! They’re villainous but dumb and funny. The best kind of villain to hate! 😂 All the actors also did really good in being comically hateful.

• Hayley’s character was surprisingly delightful too.

• WHY DID THEY NOT FEATURE THE CAT MORE? >!It was so confusing when they showed the different timelines where the cat was alive then died and then was alive? I suppose it was meant to be the same cat but I honestly couldn’t tell.!<

• I actually wished they just stuck to the same plot of the original. Their own interpretation was kind of pointless and lame. >!Why would Sherman hold on to the clip of Titan hitting Senna for so long and not do anything? She literally wouldn’t do that. And it would have been so much more interesting if they had stuck to Aiden also having traveled back in time.!< They should have done so and just did 30 episodes so there was more runtime to flesh out the story.

• >!The part where Senna says everything she dreamt about and then experienced IRL was a coincidence in the end, and not a prophecy, was totally illogical. How would you even come to that conclusion… I suppose it was the writers’ way of saying that’s why certain events, like either Sherman or Mark dying (since Senna died), didn’t happen… but erm it would have made more sense just to say it was a parallel universe.!<

• >!They also just ended with no wrap up for Sherman and Mark lol.. I guess Sherman just continues in a coma and Mark jobless and a mama’s boy.!<

• Overall it was still enjoyable! A good 6.5/10 for me.

Why are there so many useless, unnecessary scenes of supporting roles we don't care about in K-dramas?

Most K-dramas are 16 episodes long, and I've honestly not watched a single K-drama without skipping a substantial portion of each episode because of the inclusion of scenes of supporting characters. Of course i think they matter; they definitely have a place and purpose, but not so much that they take up 1/4th of every episode. A K-drama could be so much more engaging if they cut down on extra scenes of the supporting roles. Some examples i would like to give are

  1. supporting characters in See you at Work Tomorrow

  2. Useless, unnecessary aunts in My Royal Nemesis

etc., etc.

high quality classic hk movies

can I ask where can I access high quality classic hongkong movies / dramas (those from 90s) with high quality and properly translated english subtitles?

i grew up watching these classic hongkong (I understand mandarin and cantonese) but everytime I recommend them to my friends I find it hard to find sources that are appealing for them to watch :( it’s either the quality is so low or the translations are not good enough.

Some of the classics I really want them to try:
\- Stephen Chow movies (older ones like King of Comedy, God of Gamblers etc.)
\- Greed of Men
\- Threshold of an Era
\- Condor Heroes Trilogy

Even also thinking of just making a channel and translating them myself but I’m not sure how
