Here is some information on the Lantern that Hal acquired his ring from that crash landed on earth!
Abin Sur is an alien superhero in DC Comics and the Green Lantern of Space Sector 2814. Created by John Broome and Gil Kane, he first appeared in Showcase #22 in 1959. He is best known for crash-landing on Earth and having his power ring choose test pilot Hal Jordan as his successor.
Character Background & History
Homeworld: Born on Ungara, where he worked as a history professor before joining the Green Lantern Corps.
Relationships: He was a close friend and ally of Thaal Sinestro, who was married to Abin's sister, Arin Sur. He is also the uncle of Soranik Natu and the father of Amon Sur.
Death: He died after his spaceship was fatally damaged. Fearing a prophecy about the "Blackest Night," he flew a physical ship instead of relying entirely on his ring, leaving him vulnerable when the ship crashed on Earth.
Legacy: Before dying, his ring chose Hal Jordan, making Jordan the first human Green Lantern of Earth. Abin Sur's legacy is deeply tied to major cosmic prophecies and the creation of the Indigo Tribe.
>!What an episode! After seeing one of my favorite superheroes frozen out in the cold, I had hoped that maybe he'd be back just like he had before. All of that was cut short when I read the news on this entertainment article: !<
>!<
>!It seems like after over a decade of waiting, he is only making a splash on this show, and will be gone from the universe going forward. I say this because bringing him back would cheapen the story, and would steer focus away from John. Somehow. After both characters have shared comic pages for close to five decades now. !<
>!I'm worried what repercussions this will have on the character moving forward, as it impacts the comics or other projects in the future. How will adaptations of the most famous Green Lantern stories work if the most famous Green Lantern is dead? I don't know. !<
>!I feel like I'm not the only one concerned by this, I don't wish to be toxic about it but I feel the character, specially the Geoff Johns run, really got me through some tough times in my life and kept me company while I dared on experiences beyond my comfort zone. !<
>!I'm concerned by what the future brings for Green Lantern adaptations, and how they will be handled in the future, to maintain the integrity of the original stories.!<
>!If someone does decide to bring back H.E.A.T (lol), I hope it's to make their voices heard through positive actions. !<

Go Lanterns from Brazil
If anyone's wondering yes He's intentionally drawn uncanny in this page
Hal is nowhere to be found in the actual issue. A nice callback to José Luis García López classic art from the 1982 DC Style Guide, though.
