Going into this I was pretty exhausted after Robbie's era fizzled out with some mediocre miniseries and Brissons run was shot down before taking off but was pleasantly surprised

The first arc is genuinely excellent with top notch art and pacing taking a more horror like tone. It's similar to Daniel Way's run in that it's doing it's own thing without caring much for continuity while still being fun. Talia was a great addition, Black Heart back as the villian was fun, only major complaints I have is that (also similar to Way's run) Johnny is kinda just some sad Charmless dude and the ending is extremely rushed.

Second arc is another story tho it starts off with some decent set up to what seems like another Generic Johnny vs Danny story but...that just doesn't happen it ends before even getting anywhere interesting

The Annual was a fun stand alone story

And the third arc I thought was a surprisingly emotional and well written (even for Johnny) set up for the final arc to complete Talia's character arc... sadly that never happened instead we got:

Final Vengeance a complete head scratcher of an ending. Very cool name and very interesting concept with maybe 2 or 3 stand out moments otherwise? A complete waste of time throwing away anything good about the run and not even doing anything with what it had

Tho at least the Vergence Forever one shot was a pretty great celebration of GR history

Overall I enjoyed this run quite a bit for taking a fresh but fitting direction for the most part but everytime it's about to take the extra step and become something special it just slips and falls face first. It has a great start beautiful art and action with the best new character in ages and some good Johnny/Zarathos interactions
