Construction or trade jobs in HRM

Hey everyone, I’m just making a post to ask where someone like myself that doesn’t have trade schooling or direct construction experience can look to get in with a union or construction company.

I want to go straight to work as I am older and have kids and bills and want to avoid going to school unless it’s paid for. I’ve been working an industrial job for ten years and I’ve had enough of it going nowhere and want to pursue a skill and something different. Any info of who’s hiring or where to call would be greatly appreciated.

Best employee discounts, non food service.

Who gives the best? Asking for my Dad who is long retired and bored. I heard LL Bean gives you 60%, bass pro 10-50% depending on brand, Shoppers used to be sweet too at cost.

Who am I missing in the non food service space?

Strange hiring process from IKEA

In mid-July, I applied for the Food Co-worker (Cashier) position and the Bistro & Sweden store at IKEA. In early August, the headquarters in Toronto gave me a phone interview for the Food Co-worker (Cashier) position and informed me that IKEA would send me an email to notify of a face-to-face appointment within the next two weeks. But strangely, two weeks passed and I received an email informing me that I had not been hired by the Food Co-worker (Cashier). At the same time, I didn't receive any information about the Bistro & Sweden shop positions.

So......have I cooked?

BTW, I have 4 years of experience in cashiering and kitchen restaurant service. According to the IKEA recruitment process, shouldn't I still have a face-to-face interview before deciding whether I am qualified for this job?

Lesser known field among new graduates

I am an IT auditor at RBC and just wanted to do an AMA.

Graduates in HFX have an unique opportunity as RBC runs a sizeable audit department in Bedford and there's always opportunities but i feel not a lot of students know about this field.

It doesn't pay well in the beginning but it's a great stepping stone and a stable job during these times.

Feel free to ask me anything.
