Reapplying after rejection

What is the consensus on reapplying to an Associate position at a PE firm the next year after being rejected following several rounds of interviews? From the outside, I can see pros--it demonstrates strong interest and gives you another at-bat with now enhanced experience and skills. Is that how recruiters/firms view it, or is it frowned upon?

Insights at any level would be helpful, but especially in LMM.

Odds of getting into Big 4

I have been having a rough trajectory in uni. Currently in a target uni (UQ which is one of Great Eight in Australia) .I did three years of engineering with a fairly low to average gpa and then switched commerce for the last semester. Recently, I was caught for academic misconduct which caused my GPAs of one commerce course and seven engineering courses to a grade of 0 and is marked as misconduct grade in my transcript. Hypothetically, having just done one semester of commerce, say I end up getting near perfect GPAs from now -having 2.5 years to go, multiple case comps, hopefully great networking and internships(hope I get in). How well am I looking to get into Big 4 in Australia and eventually maybe to investment banking or elite finance after some experience. It would be great if I can get the reality or advice from someone who knows the path on how possible this might be. Just wanna know if i should continue this path or put myself back into engineering if thats better to get inthis case. Appreciate it!

Trying to break into remote ops/analyst roles from retail banking, any advice?

I’ve got close to five years of experience across banking and insurance. On the banking side I’ve done everything from transaction processing and reconciliation to KYC/CIP compliance, check fraud detection, signature verification, monitoring for suspicious activity, and working with ops and risk teams on escalations. I also have some insurance background handling underwriting support and compliance documentation.

I’m currently in retail banking and while I’m good at the sales side of it, it’s not where I want to be long term. I want to move into something more focused on the backend — remote ops, operations analyst, fraud analyst, loan processing, BSA/AML, compliance, that kind of thing.

I don’t have a degree, just a high school diploma, but I do have real hands on experience and was recognized as Top Performer at my current employer two quarters in a row.

My questions are:

What job boards or resources did you use to find remote roles in this space?

Did the lack of a degree hold you back and how did you get around it?

Any specific roles or companies that are worth targeting with a background like mine?

Anything you wish you knew before making the transition?

Appreciate any advice, this community seems like a good place to ask.

Odds of getting into investment banking

I have been having a rough trajectory in uni. I did three years of engineering with a fairly low to average gpa and then switched commerce for the last semester. How well am I looking for investment banking companies (in Australia) or at least in the pathway - for e.g: starting as a M&A in Delloite or good boutique firms or even getting a decent finance job? Could I plan my way through it? It would be great if I can get the reality or advice from someone who knows the path on how possible this might be. Appreciate it!

Resume/Interview Issue

I applied for a full-time IB role with the wrong version of my resume. The issue is purely formatting, there’s an extra space below one of the lines that shouldn’t be there.

I know this sounds extremely minor, but I’m concerned that attention to detail is such a big deal in IB that something like this could get me cut if they notice it.

I already have an interview on Tuesday, so I want to send them the corrected version ASAP. How would you approach this?

  1. Be upfront and say I accidentally submitted the wrong resume, then attach the corrected version?
  2. Just say something along the lines of, “I wanted to send over my most up-to-date resume ahead of the interview,” and attach it without mentioning the mistake?
  3. Do something else?

I’m leaning toward #2, but would appreciate any advice, especially from people who have been through IB recruiting.

I don’t want to wait until the interview to fix it if I can avoid it.

career guidance

In this current 'lost generation' and high unemployment I (16F) really want to find a secure, high paying job. I have been considering finance as it genuinely interests me however I have been told the job market is especially tough for high finance therefore I am unsure whether it's worth it to pursue a finance career. I have considered medicine as it has such high job security however I really have no actual interest in it. For those of you already in finance would you recommend it today? Appreciate any advice thanks.

Roast my CV (Targeting IB/PE BB, EBs, Independent Boutiques in London post grad)

As I enter my Master's degree programme at LBS I am preparing for the upcoming recruitment cycle and am trying to maximise my chances of securing a solid summer internship/off-cycle/Full-time position in M&A and/or PE in London. What do you think can be improved about my CV and how would you say it looks overall for the positions that I am targeting). I'm looking for you to roast this CV as hard and constructively as you can, I would genuinely appreciate real feedback. Thanks in advance!

P.S. I apologise in advance if this is the wrong place to post this, I'm new to Reddit and a friend recommended posting here.

Would a Duolingo-style app for IB technicals be useful?

I’m considering building a Duolingo-like app that teaches IB technicals, accounting, and industry knowledge through short daily lessons, drills, streaks, and progress tracking.

Would you use it?
