Hey all,

We have two AprilAire 720a humidifiers (currently turned off for summer). that said now that our AC is regularly running I've noticed that a lot of cold air appears to be flowing through/escaping from the units - basically cooling our basement as opposed to providing full airflow to the rest of the house.

Is there anyway to prevent this from occurring?

I recently purchased a new 10,000 BTU GE air conditioner, it seems to be working good, but I’ve been using it for about two weeks now and it doesn’t seem to be making my room any less humid, I got a Hydro meter to see if I was just going crazy and the humidity seems to read between 65% and 75% pretty consistently. It’s definitely making the room cold it’s just the humidity. I have it pitched at a good angle and its be draining properly. I am almost afraid that the unit is too big for my room. Because when I do research on my issue, size of room to BTU amount seems to keep coming up. I was recommended to get a higher BTU unit because the room is in direct sunlight and on the second floor underneath an attic. I’m kind of stressing out because I don’t know what to do and I don’t wanna have to purchase a whole new unit after I just purchased this one. But I can’t keep ignoring how wet my room feels.

Would really appreciate any advice.

Hallo zusammen, ich habe ein Problem mit der Luftfeuchtigkeit bei mir zu Hause. Außerdem vermute ich, dass auch die Isolierung nicht ganz in Ordnung ist. Im Winter ist es drinnen zu kalt und im Sommer ist es unerträglich heiß. Es ist so warm im Haus, dass meine Kleidung selbst dann an meinem Körper klebt, wenn ich den Ventilator laufen lasse und ihn direkt auf mich richte. Es handelt sich um eine Mietwohnung mit offenem Grundriss und einer Fläche von 60 m². Alle Wände sind mit weißer Tapete tapeziert. An vielen Stellen im Innenbereich gibt es häufig Schimmelflecken, die ich mit einem Schimmelentferner beseitige. Obwohl ich das Fenster öffne, sinkt die Luftfeuchtigkeit (<61%) zunächst, aber am nächsten Tag – zack – liegt sie schon wieder bei 75 %.
Tatsächlich krabbeln auch auf meinen Elektrogeräten weiße Insekten herum, die ich zwar entferne, die aber immer wieder zurückkommen. Außerdem gibt es an meiner Wand hinter dem Badezimmer einen Fleck, bei dem ich vermute, dass es sich um ein internes Leck handelt, und tatsächlich bildet sich auch im Badezimmer selbst nach dem Putzen Tau, und der Abluftventilator saugt die Luft nicht effektiv ab. Waschmaschine und Trockner stehen ebenfalls im Badezimmer.
Ich habe mit dem Vermieter gesprochen, und er sagt, wir hätten dieses Haus seit 25 Jahren und noch nie ein solches Problem gehabt. Wir sollen die Fenster öffnen, den Trockner nicht benutzen und unsere Wäsche an der Luft trocknen lassen. Er hat uns zwar einen Luftentfeuchter besorgt, aber ich denke darüber nach, auszuziehen, da ich gerade an meiner Abschlussarbeit arbeite und nach der Arbeit nicht mehr genug Energie übrig habe, um mich mit Schimmelbeseitigung und jetzt auch noch diesen winzigen Insekten herumzuschlagen. Was soll ich tun?

Noch etwas: Im ganzen Haus wimmelt es von Spinnen, und überall hängen Spinnweben, egal, wie viel man putzt. Miete 960€+ NK(für 2 Personen). 🥲🥲

Hey yall, first time posting and just want some advice! I have 2 small greenhouses with plants that a standard humidifier won’t fit in. Do you guys have any suggestions on a small humidifier that has worked for you?

I'm posting here but not sure if it's the right sub for my question. Also sorry if it's a dumb question.

My MIL told me to put a glass of water in the air conditioned room we sleep in. That way the air conditioner will take the humidity from that glass of water and not from our bodies.

I tried this and yes the water evaporates. But does the air conditioner only take the humidity from a glass of water though? Or does a water from our body evaporates too regardless?

I mean for me it kind of makes sense (because the water from the glass evaporates) but also it doesn't (how would the air conditioner know to take the water only from the glass)?

What do you think about this?
