IBM HR asking me to fill BGV before offer letter

Hi everyone,

I recently completed interviews with IBM Consulting India and HR asked me to fill the background verification form before proceeding further.

I’m currently employed and have not submitted my resignation yet, so I was concerned about any third-party verification agency or IBM contacting my current employer before onboarding.

I asked the recruiter about this, and she replied that no one will be calling anyone till onboarding, and that the form is just part of the process to proceed further.

I wanted to check with people who recently joined IBM India:

Did IBM or the BGV vendor contact your current employer before onboarding/joining?

Was the actual verification done only after offer acceptance or joining?

Is it generally safe to fill the form before resignation?

IBM ASE relocation issue – really need guidance

Hey guys,

I really need some suggestions because honestly I feel completely lost right now.

I joined IBM as an ASE at the end of last year. My training was in Bangalore, and in February I got allocated to a project and relocated to Kolkata. I’m originally from Hyderabad.

Ever since I came here, my mental health has completely gone downhill. I know many people say “everyone adjusts eventually,” but I genuinely feel broken here.

I live alone. I don’t have friends here, nobody to talk to, nobody to even sit and eat with after work. Most days I just come back to my room and sit in silence for hours. Weekends feel even worse.

I cry almost every single day since I came to Kolkata. That’s how badly this loneliness and everything around me has affected me. I never thought I would become this mentally exhausted, but I honestly feel like I’m slowly losing myself here.

On top of this, there are family medical issues back home in Hyderabad, and being this far away makes me feel helpless all the time.

A few months ago, I spoke to my SDM about relocation to Hyderabad. He told me, “We’ll see in 5–6 months, and I’ll definitely help you.” Since then, I’ve been holding onto those words every single day and hoping that maybe by August I can finally relocate.

But when I discussed the same thing with my TL, he said I should stay in Kolkata for at least 1 year. Ever since hearing that, I’ve honestly been scared every day thinking what if I get stuck here till next year.

The thing is, I’m genuinely ready to do whatever it takes. I want to learn the project properly before August so that I can become independent and continue working from Hyderabad. I’m ready to spend extra hours, weekends, OT — anything. I’m not trying to escape work or responsibility. I just want a chance to survive mentally while also taking care of my family situation.

Right now I feel completely broken mentally. Every day I’m just hoping somehow August comes fast and my relocation gets approved. I honestly don’t think I can handle staying here till next year if they say no again.

I feel like my reason is valid because of my family medical issues, but I don’t know how these things work in corporate anymore.

If anyone from IBM or anyone who has faced something similar has advice about relocation, manager discussions, or how to handle this phase, please share it. I would really appreciate it.

Cic ASE hiring 15/5/2026

Guys I have a query regarding the hiring process.

Our coding round was on 14th and f2f interview was yesterday.

Everyone received the bgv mail and bgv was done on spot.

Why is there a change in the process?

How long does it take to get an update regarding selection?

ASE Assessment links not opening

I received an ASE assessment mail along with an accommodation form. I was able to fill out the accommodation form successfully, but I’m unable to open/access the assessment links mentioned in the mail.

Does anyone else facing the same issue? or does anyone know whom to contact regarding this?

How Long Does IBM Take to Send Joining Letter After Background Verification for ASE Role?

Hi everyone,

I recently completed my background verification for the IBM ASE role. How long does it usually take to receive the joining letter after BGV completion?

For those who joined recently, how many days or weeks did it take in your case?

Thanks!

Query regarding IBM Job ID 92086 On Campus placement

I sat for IBM college placement interview on 14th March having job ID 92086, got selected and received Letter of Intent on 21st April. So far its about to be a month and we haven't received any updates. To all the seniors here, 1) is this normal and 2) how long does IBM take to issue offer letter for on campus placements?

Incomplete documents for IBM Off campus CIC - ASE role job, I might get rejected.

It hurts me to say this, but I haven't received my MCA degree and original marksheets from University. During document verification (after the Interview ), they asked me to get these docs by Monday or my candidature will be canceled. I don't think my university will be able to provide me the Degree and Marksheet Today ( Friday ). I feel so bad. I will be getting rejected for something that isn't in my hand.
Also there is no mail, no contact portal of IBM where I can send a request mail to provide me some more time.

Does anyone have any idea, how I might solve this situation, then please comment. I really need this job, I have been jobless since very long.

Aplogies if this can't be posted here, but IBM wants technical eminence, but international conference travel is now restricted. How are people handling this?

A big part of technical roles at large companies is being asked to build “eminence”: represent the company externally, present at conferences, teach workshops, engage with clients, and show that the company has real experts behind the products.

But now there’s a new international travel restriction saying travel should be limited to “essential” only. The examples of essential travel are things like directly billable client delivery, client-required workshops tied to active deals or revenue commitments, late-stage sales pursuits, or critical client support. It also says internal meetings, conferences, training, strategy sessions, or relationship-building visits should be deferred or moved virtual where possible.

Here’s the gray area: what if you’re accepted to present at an external client-facing industry conference, and paying clients have signed up for your technical workshops?

In my case, these are multi-hour technical sessions for a customer and partner audience, not an internal meeting or casual networking trip. The sessions support product enablement, customer engagement, and the broader ecosystem around the platform. But because it is attached to a “conference,” it may still be viewed as discretionary travel.

I understand the safety and cost concerns, especially with unpredictable international air travel. But I’m struggling with where the line is drawn. If external technical presence is part of the job, and clients are attending specifically for that content, shouldn’t that be treated differently from internal conference travel?

Curious how others are handling this. Are your companies still allowing exceptions for external speaking engagements and client-facing workshops, or is all conference travel basically frozen now?

IBM hiring clarification

I recently received the LOI from IBM. Now after like 20 days I get this mail from IBM entry level hiring stating the need for upskilling myself for the role. They didn't specify what are the skills needed for the role (Associate System Engineer), or which specific courses I must follow. Has anyone received a similar mail ? Does anyone know if this is a mandatory certification process?

Hiring doubt clarification

Hi everyone,

I recently completed IBM’s competency test and coding assessment on May 1st for an internship/full-time role, and I wanted to know how long the usual waiting period is before hearing back from them regarding the next rounds or results.

For those who have gone through IBM’s hiring process recently:

  • How long did it take for you to get an update?
  • Did you receive a rejection/update mail in between?
  • Is a long wait normal for IBM?

Would really appreciate hearing about your experiences. Thanks!
