Hello! Last time we asked you all for a short interview about otome games, and this time we want to share an update on our progress! Our otome game is called 'Mark Complete' it's a productivity app that helps you focus and rewards you with an eye-candy virtual companion you can romance.

Hello!

We're two people working on Mark Complete, a productivity app that helps you focus and rewards you with an eye-candy virtual companion you can romance. We're aiming to release the demo this autumn!

Mark Complete's inspiration came from a personal struggle we've always had: actually sitting down and focusing on the task in front of us. With so many distractions around us and everything moving so fast, it's only gotten worse in recent years. Not to mention our personal obsession with charming 2D men and the good love stories that come with them. That's what made us start Mark Complete.🥺

We're just beginning our development journey, and we hope you'll follow along with us through the real chaos of two people trying to make this thing happen!

Thank you for all your support and this community! We hope to create a cozy little space where you can focus on studying or working, mark your tasks complete, and let him complete you.💘

🌸 ZombiSeed’s Kickstarter Pre-Launch Is Live!

Hi everyone! 🍋 We’re LemonVelvet, a four-person indie team from South Korea developing ZombiSeed. Some of you may remember our previous character introduction posts here—thank you again for the warm response!

We’re excited to share that ZombiSeed’s Kickstarter pre-launch page is now live, ahead of the full campaign launch on September 10, 2026. If the game catches your eye, clicking “Notify me on launch” would mean so much to our tiny team! 🌸

ZombiSeed is a story-driven joseimuke (otome-adjacent) Visual Novel × turn-based Card Battle RPG planned for Android and iOS. It takes place in a post-apocalyptic world where the mysterious “Blossom” virus transforms infected people into beautiful but deadly Flower Zombies.

You play as a Teacher at an elite Hunter Academy. You can choose the protagonist’s name and gender, then survive alongside five male students and one fellow teacher while uncovering their secrets—and the truth behind the apocalypse.

While ZombiSeed is female-oriented and otome-adjacent, it is not a traditional romance-route otome or dating sim. Instead, its emotional core lies in deep, evolving relationships shaped by trust, conflict, trauma, found family, and different forms of affection. Expect survival, mystery, angst, and plenty of beautiful characters! 💖

The four of us have been working on ZombiSeed for the past two years, so we’re incredibly happy to finally share this milestone with you. We’d love to know which character—or which part of ZombiSeed’s world—catches your eye!

Kickstarter Appreciation Post

I’m sure some Kickstarter projects have had issues, but I personally really appreciate how Kickstarter has allowed me to directly support indie games I want to exist. Shout out to Still Joking, Arcadia Fallen II, Crimson Waves on the Emerald Sea: Amaranthine Moon, and Lover’s Enigma, all indie otome games I supported on Kickstarter that are now available! :D

Romance + character customization vn recommendations

Could I please get some recommendations for visual novels with romance and character customization? I would like to be able to play as a woman, set my own name, and have dialogue options. (I hope I'm explaining this well, basically I like it when you can self insert)

I've played and liked Our Life 1 & 2, Scarlet Hollow, Keyframes, and Threads of You: Beyond the Bay.

Finally revealed our otome game title!

Dreamplay Garden is an upcoming dark psychological thriller romance where you play as Aria, an aspiring actress. This Otome has strong elements of the entertainment industry/showbiz drama, wrapped inside an explorative RPG-lite narrative structure.

If it caught your eye, please consider following us on socials: dreamplaygarden_otome !!

*Pre-order link and registration coming soon (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧
**This is an upcoming mobile otome-styled game, with a fun, artistic UI and exploration elements unlike any other otome game 🩷

Working on a game for over 2 years... and now I'm scared to share it.

This isn't self-promotion. I won't be mentioning my game's name or linking any social media—I just genuinely want to hear your thoughts.

I've been developing my indie otome game for over two years with my younger sister. It's our dream project, and we've put our hearts into it. I handle the development and writing, while she creates all the art.

We fell in love with otome games through anime like Diabolik Lovers and Uta no Prince-sama, but we couldn't play most of them because of the language barrier and the cost of consoles and games. Later, mobile titles like Ikemen Vampire, Mr. Love: Queen's Choice, Tears of Themis, and Love and Deepspace made the genre much more accessible to us, and that's what inspired us to make a vertical mobile otome game from the very beginning. It's now about 75% finished, so changing platforms isn't really an option.

Recently, though, I've noticed that many indie otome fans seem to immediately dismiss mobile games, especially if they assume they're gacha games.

Our game isn't gacha. It's free to play with optional in-app purchases, and over 90% of the content is completely free. It has full routes for every love interest, unique gameplay mechanics, a new choice system, and a lot of features we've worked incredibly hard on.

Seeing so much support for indie otome games on Steam and itch.io, but much less for mobile, has honestly made me afraid to start sharing our game. I'm worried people will ignore it simply because it's on mobile.

So I'd love to hear your honest opinion: Would you give an indie otome game a chance if it was on mobile, as long as it wasn't a gacha game and respected the player's time and money?

Thanks so much for reading!

UwU Weekly Spotlight: Don't Eat the Cashier! [August 10, 2026]

It's hot....again....

Let's try to cool down with some spooky chills with Don't Eat the Cashier! from Miloff

https://preview.redd.it/4jxybu1xmnih1.png?width=1200&format=png&auto=webp&s=3ccc06624bcf26512f9fed50208b94314a448dde

If you’re like me and forget every single thing you’ve ever done when someone asks you direct questions, here’s some prompts to get you started:

  • Who is your favorite character? Was it them all along or did it change while you played?
  • What aspect (story detail, UI, game element) stood out to you the most?
  • Any memorable lines or scenes?

Something about satire of retail just gets me more than anything else. The opening scene of the MC's orientation at a gas station cashier job had me in stitches 🤣 MC's manager might seem a little…inhuman, but is that really so far from reality…..?

In spite of the surreal setting of a gas station at midnight that attracts all manner of odd characters, it ends up feeling a little cozy? Maybe it's the focus on a single room as MC chats with various customers from behind the register.

David best boy! *cough* not just because of his CG or anything >.>

Next week we're trawling the depths with Deep Sea Boutonniere from Faesu. See you then!

Need Recommendations!

hi hi, first time posting here, so really nervous and I'm sorry if there are any mistakes here! Lmk and I'll fix it:)

I desperately need your help. I love otome games and/or dating sims, but i haven't been able to find any new games except the ones I've already played, and please only give completed games as im tired of demos :<

give me your best ideas!

What platforms do you have available?

PC !

What languages are you ok with?

I only speak English.

PRICE RANGE:

I'd prefer free, but I don't mind either way :)

GAMES I'VE LIKED:

A Date with Death

A Tavern at Night (and its sequel)

Killer Chat

Threads of You: Beyond the Bay

Error 143:

Blooming panic

Killerchat

(I've played more but these are the only ones I remember atm T-T)

GAMES I DISLIKED:

Mostly the Japanese otomes, I've tried to get into them but really haven't been able to :< but if you have any recommendations that fit the theme or art style like the games I've mentioned, please recommend even if it's japanese since I've only tried the mainstream ones :')

LIMITATIONS:

Would prefer only pc games as i don't have any other gaming consoles.

What level of plot and romance are you looking for?

I don't have any specific plot or romance I'm into, but genre wise, I'm not really into sci-fi or detective type stuff.

What character or plot tropes do you like?

Enemies to lovers. But also friends with benefits turned "oh shit we actually have feelings for each other." But also arranged marriage that ends up going well, I also love FLIRTING ALOT !!! like playful flirting but kinda blushing, too at the same time, and would prefer something modern as chatting/video calls type games !

Do you have anything that you really dislike in otome games?

It bothers me if the art has glaring issues, like odd proportions for anatomy. I'm more into a traditional or pretty/soft artstyle. For me, it's really important to find the romance options attractive! However, I know this is a very subjective preference :) I also LOVE games that have voice acting, so PLEASE RECOMMEND ME SOME WITH VA !!

KEY TAKEAWAYS: I like pretty art, I like characters with genuine motivation for the things they do, I love drama, I love a good story, and I love an otome game that has gameplay! Settings I particularly enjoy are casual friends or texting with characters that are flirty and stuff !
