I Designed My Own Oil Cap for My Hondas After Getting Tired of Slippery OEM Caps

After years of working on Hondas, one small thing kept bothering me — the OEM oil caps can be surprisingly annoying to remove when your hands are oily during oil changes.

A lot of aftermarket caps looked good, but many of them didn’t actually improve usability. Some even felt worse than OEM.

So I decided to design my own.

My main goals were:
- Better grip with oily hands
- OEM+ appearance
- Precision-machined feel
- Something that actually feels good to use repeatedly

I’ve been testing the design on my own cars for a little over 2 months now (around 3,000+ miles), and I also gave prototypes to 3 friends who daily drive their cars and do their own maintenance.

So far the feedback has been very positive. The biggest thing people noticed was how much easier it is to remove compared to the OEM cap, especially during oil changes.

Still continuing long-term testing, but I wanted to share the project with fellow Honda enthusiasts here since this community appreciates functional details more than most people.

Would love to hear your thoughts or feedback.

Tail of the dragon checked off bucket list

Might not be the fastest in the dragon. But man oh man. It was built for it

Resonator delete

PFA.

Does anyone have a sound clip of a type s with resonator delete going from comfort to sport? Curious to hear the difference and how quiet it is in comfort

First Oil Change - currently 650mi

Just past break in period and been throttling up RPMs. By Memorial Day weekend I’ll be at 750ish.

I have no way to do the oil myself due to personal issues so two options are drive 20 min to dealer for OEM oil at 99 bucks

Or

Local Japanese car shop that uses Mobil 1 and OEM filters at 99 bucks. 10 min away.

I do get free oil changes for 3 years but this one will not be included since it’s so low. Since I want to get a sample to blackstone and get any shavings out, what’s the going consensus?

Loving the car more and more each day and want to make sure I am doing this right because I’ve read the moly argument vs getting the oil fresh. I plan to change at 3500 miles after and so on.

So is 750 miles good and should I use the local shop with Mobil 1 or go dealer to keep all work documented for the powertrain warranty?

Thanks!

Data point: Highway driving has consistently yielded 30+ MPG.

1st pic was taken after I reached my destination in Charlotte from Raleigh. 2nd pic was taken after a drive from Southend CLT to Huntersville (77 sucks but we live).

Proactively changing lanes to prevent ACC from braking helped a lot, and it mostly managed the rest on the first drive. Ofc, I did some highway and onramp pulls and that is factored into the overall MPG. As for the second drive, I simply cruised on the speed limit on 6th gear and let off the gas on a downhill. Car is light enough to maintain speed when it's off the gas. I was pleasantly surprised, and given the current gas prices, it has made driving this car just that much more fun.

Question for more experienced mechanics

How difficult is it to manage taking off/reinstalling parts? I really really really want to get more experienced with mechanic stuff but I'm just absolutely terrified to do it myself. How forgiving is this car (mechanic wise?) I feel like I am really savvy with shit like this and have been fucking around/building random things my entire life, I just haven't taken the leap of faith to take off my front bumper yet (even though it seems like that's the easiest thing to take off).

I ordered an acuity shifter and the prl hvi so eventually imma have to, just want to know any experiences from other amateurish mechanics. Thanks!

FL5 Type R to Type S?

I have currently the Type R, previously had an A90 Supra, but I feel like the Type R is missing just a little bit for me in the overall comfort (road noise, comfort features). I didn't test drive the type S prior to getting into the Type R, but I am curious on people's feedback if they've gone from the Type R to the Type S.

HRC Integra and Type S for Forza Horizon 6

I've added a HRC integra livery with custom badging and updated my Integra Type S designs with custom badging. The ITS has an updated front end to go along better with the games included body kit. Let me know if you are interested in specific colors for an ITS or HRC livery.

Damage to OEM Rims

I purchased my 2026 ITS in January. I live in NE Ohio so purchased a set of winter tires and rims that the dealer installed so I could drive it home. I just pulled out the summer set to ceramic coat them before mounting on Friday, and I noticed on all four rims, on the inside of the barrel, there are these scuffs all around near where the tire bead is applied. These are stock OEM rims, never seen the street, and only swapped once.

I can't imagine this is normal, as it looks like the damage is through the exterior coating. I called the dealer but they haven't called back yet (surprise). I have to assume they came from the factory like this since the rims were only swapped with my winter set at the dealer. I can't imagine how that could happen with just a swap since they didn't touch the tires.

Any thoughts are appreciated. Right now I'm hoping the dealer swaps the rims, as I assume the removed coating will cause oxidation and damage long-term.

Shifter bezel wrap

I’ve seen the really nice suede and red stitch pieces from a few venders, but I wanted to take a more DIY approach to cover the gross piano black

Enter self adhesive syn suede/microfiber

https://a.co/d/07jV7Gzl

I’m very happy with the results. This stuff is seriously sticky, and has just enough pull to wrap clean around the corners and edges

Take it for what it is, but I’ll take this 20$ experiment as a win over the nicer 400$ pieces

Varis ARISING-1 Carbon Rear Wing on an ITS?

Has anyone tried to retrofit this FL5 wing onto an ITS? I think it would look even better on ITS. If I go this route, I’ll likely have to recruit some help from a qualified body shop, but dimensions are not too far off.

Created Integra Type S in Forza Horizon 6

As of right now, only the Integra A-Spec exists in Forza Horizon 6, so I needed to get creative with decals and mods to represent the ITS correctly. Let me know what you think.

JohnRyGuy is my in-game name if you play as well and are interested in my tunes/designs. I've added design downloads for other colors including Solar Silver, Apex Blue Pearl, Double Apex Blue Pearl, Tigers Eye and Liquid Carbon
