Foster Dog Advice
My GF and I have an intact male (black, 1-3 Y/o est) that we’ve been fostering for over a week (we’re planning to adopt him). Our first dog (freckles, 8y/o female) is timid and not particularly social. This is about as confrontational as it gets between them, and doesn’t happen every day. Freckles never initiates play, so I know to an extent she is annoyed and doesn’t prefer this. This usually happens if she gets excited before a walk or decides to self play or stimulate in some way (rolling around, etc). She normally is lethargic so he reacts when she is suddenly energetic.
My questions are:
Is he inherently playful here? (He is very vocal so he can growl or bark for all kinds of reasons)
Just trying to hump or assert dominance?
What can we expect over time when he’s fixed and they get used to each other?
Any officiating tips or proactive measures?
