Worth it?

So I currently have a jbl flip 7 and it does the job extremely well, love it but I'd love some more bass and louder as a whole. That's what makes me consider buying the charge 6 which I found for somehow at the same price of the jbl flip 7 but I didn't notice before buying the flip 7. Should I buy the charge 6 or nah?

My wife's JBL Charge 5 is haunted???

A couple of years ago I, my wife and some friends were hiking while camping and had our speaker in our backpack to break out and use once we were at a stopping point at a creek. All of a sudden, we started to hear loud nature sounds. Keep in mind we were in the woods so nature sounds are already there, but these were different bird calls and such.

We pull the speaker out, which was turned off, mind you, and it was playing bird chirps, babbling brook water and other nature sounds.

We were like, huh? I mean thanks for trying to improve our experience autonomously, but wtf?

None of our devices were connected to it. It turned itself on and did this all on its own. I googled this functionality and looked in the manual after we got home and found no mention of this functionality.

So we laugh about it for a couple of years. We use the speaker a bunch at other locations, this never happens again.

Until...

We go back to the same camp ground and hike on the same trail. My friend stops dead and his tracks and yells out "IT'S DOING IT AGAIN!!!" But this time, we were playing music on the speaker and it INTERRUPTED THE MUSIC TO PLAY THE SAME NATURE SOUNDS.

Again, this was not coming form any of our devices. We checked immediately.

So I ask you, What in the paranormal audiotivity is going on here????

Charge 5 Passive Radiators

I've owned a JBL Charge 5 for quite a while now and I've been thinking about doing a little mod to the passive radiators.

I know that you can add weight to passive radiators on say... Custom car audio builds to get the right tuning, and you most definitely can add some to the back of the passive radiators on a Charge 5, with either glue or something else like double sided tape as examples.

So I was thinking about adding maybe 5 or 10 grams to each one to slightly tune the speaker for lower bass as I find it slightly lacking in that range, I feel like the loss in audio quality wouldn't be too much of a difference for me to notice due to me usually not using it for critical listening as I mostly use the speakers in my room for when I need more quality.

So I'm asking if the difference would be worth it or not? As.. Sure, it's a preference question, but I'd at least like to hear some thoughts first before doing anything.

Good Sound but I miss 2 things

I have the JBL Go 5 for two weeks now and I love the new sound but there are two thing I hoped for JBL they could’ve done better imo.

At first the lightshow,

It’s a nice touch that for sure but I keep them off for one reason, and that is that their is no rithem in the lights at all, so for example the bounch, loop, switch modes are spanning the lights without music. Anoying for most part. Maybe they could update the speaker and make the lights move with the sound it’s actually playing at that time.

And second is the logo,

It looks nice that’s not the problem. For me the problem is the materials and the way they put it one there. It will come off in just a few monds after using them outdoor. Even indoor. I would say for their smallest speakers like the clip and go’s they should’ve stayed with the small metal logo.

The upgrade in the speaker for me is the sound, even tho is doesn’t sound much louder than the 4 it’s still a bit. And that 7 band EQ is also very nice for small touches of change in the sound for me. And the AirTouch is also nice if you have two of them.
And from 7 to 10 hours of battery is the biggest reason for upgrading from the 4 to 5 imo.

JBL 120 vs 320 for garage gym

Hey all! I recently purchased a 120 for my garage gym. Garage size is probably 20x24. It sounds awesome, but I’m currently wondering if the 320 would have been the more future proof route…? More power, better sound etc. prices here in Canada are $425 for the 120, and I can get the 320 for $599, which is a Boxing Day price. Is the 320, worth $180 more??? Thanks!

Samsung is ruining the identity of JBL

Hey everyone, I’m a long time, diehard JBL fan. You all know that classic "JBL Pro Sound" the raw, deep, unfiltered bass is what a party is supposed to sound like. But looking at the newest releases, Samsung’s corporate influence is completely stripping away the brand's identity.

First, the sound tuning on the portables. Why is JBL nerfing the audio through software updates? Look at what happened with the Boombox 4 firmware updates cutting the sub bass? I get it was because of the distortion problems but why didn't they engineer it properly to where distortion didn't happen in the first place? Also, updates on the newer portables like the Flip 7 where people are reporting weaker bass. We buy JBL for the heavy, raw bass rumble. This is NOT what this brand is known for.

Second, the PartyBox lineup is actively going downhill visually. The previous generations such as the 110, 310, etc and the 120 and 320, etc looked perfect. They stood out. They looked like rugged, industrial stage gear built to take a beating at a tailgate, backyard party, or shit even a wedding if you had one that's powerful enough. The new PartyBox 130 and 330 look like cheap, generic speakers. They completely stripped away the character. They also cheaped out on the volume and light knobs by removing them and replacing them one singular knob that you have to mess with to change modes. Stop cheaping out on the parts that made JBL unique. Go back to the rugged designs and raw bass that made this brand the king of portable Bluetooth speakers, and party speakers.

Please someone at JBL or Harmon see this and realize this turn in direction is not what WE want.

Does anyone else think this as well? Or am I the only one who's upset that Samsung is ruining JBL by making them like Samsung?

Problem with the JBL Xtreme 5

Hello guys! I have a problem with Xtreme 5, at some point halfway through the songs the speaker sounds slightly muffled and loses a little of its bass, and after a few seconds it recovers slightly, does this only happen to me? Could it be from the AI sound boost it has?

JBL Partybox 720

I recommend these batteries from aftermarket. They have a USB C port where they can be charged. I connected the upper battery to the USB C 90° cable and led it outside the speaker and plugged it into the power bank. When the lower battery runs out, I change their places. So the speaker can be used longer in a place where there is no electricity.

Party Boost vs AuraCast? Need to have speakers spread around…

Ok.. I think I might have misunderstood some of the specs or just had bad assumptions. I’m now confused.

I have 2 Flip 5s, I can borrow 2 Flip 6s and a Charge #. All of those are party boost. I was thinking I could string them together and have it extend like 300 or 400 ft from the BT Transmitter. I’m not reading it’s not a mesh style network and I’m still limited to only get like 100ft.

So I looked at Auracast and it doesn’t sound much better. I was looking at Auracast and the extreme 4.

The use case is speakers on a large pool deck for events. HOA won’t allow wired installs and a few times a year we would like to have speakers spread out with a single source. I’m worried the use case just isn’t a simple fix.

Any help? How does Party Boost work? I really assumed it would repeat the signal to the next device.

Which is better for easily taking with you

And for practical, casual use but still gives fairly good sound. I am considering the JBL Go 4, JBL clip 5, and the JBL grip. I have had a JBL Go 2 for a while, will the JBL Go 4 give a better sound quality? The obvious pro with the Go 4 is that it's cheaper.

I bought a JBL Go 5💘

After buying two JBL Go 4s and discovering they were both fake, I got fed up and went for a Go 5. It's absolutely beautiful! I love how practical it is, especially since my Charge 6 It's very cumbersome to carry because of its size and weight. Super happy.

Round Boi

Flip 6 rolled off the hood of my car and crashed to the ground, so I had to make a thing.

Can make more if anybody wants one.

3d printed stand with rubber feet. Velcro holds speaker secure. Charging port and buttons stay accessible.

It fell in my shower (70cm approx)

Will update, seems easy to fix. These things are solid as fuck! (6 weeks ago it fell on the road at 2m height, not a single scratch!)

I have no idea how it happened lol

I feel like the Grip is the modern version of the flip 2. I know a lot of parole may disagree, but the design looks similar
