International Voter Drive 2026, for dual U.S.-Korean citizens and other U.S. citizens in South Korea

Hi- I'd like to make an announcement from Democrats Abroad, the official overseas branch of the U.S.-based Democratic Party with a chapter in South Korea. Since an extremely important election is coming in November, we're hoping to register more dual U.S.-Korean citizens and other eligible U.S. voters who live in South Korea.

We started our International Voter Registration Drive for 2026 with in-person and online events. If you know any eligible US citizens, they can register and request a ballot. Just send them this link: https://voteabroad.org/RedditVote26. As long as they'll turn 18 by election day, they're eligible.

If anyone wishes to learn more about what we're doing near you, you can find out more at https://www.democratsabroad.org/kr. We have regular in-person meetups and events online. If you have any questions about overseas voting or what we do, feel free to ask in the comments below.

Looking for Local Cooking Classes

Hi! I'll be in Jeju this September. Can anyone recommend a cooking class please? I've seen TOTO Atelier but I'm looking for a cooking class for local savory dishes. Thanks!

FOOD!

Hi everyone!

I'll be visiting for the first time and I'm using Naver to locate top restaurants. I understand the rating system and reviews. However, the restaurants running an AD, with heaps of reviews (like 11k) and a high rating, I'm not sure about. Are they good also?

What is Jeju like in early October? (First week)

Hi Jeju residents, in your past experiences, is Jeju overcrowded by Chinese tourists over China’s golden week? Am trying to manage my family’s expectations when we visit.

Also, is there anything you’d recommend during this week? :)

Tips on hiking the entire Olle Trail in one month? 👀

Hello :)

I've been to Jeju twice and the last time I went did one leg of the Olle trail. Since then, I always thought about how cool it would be to do the whole trail over a month (one leg per day).

Has anyone done this before? Was it easy to find accommodation (hostels) on the spot or did you book that in advance? How safe did you feel doing the trail by yourself (I am a female solo traveller)?

And is there anything else I need to know/should consider (tips and recommendations also welcome!)?

Thanks for any advice! :)

안녕하세요! :)

A few practical questions to the residents of Jeju from digital nomad

Some backstory first.

I'm a foreigner, 1.5 years in Seoul, working remotely for an international gamedev company. I really like Jeju and it's vibe/pace, but I've only been there as a tourist — about 3 weeks total.

In December I'm planning to move to Jeju from Seoul for at least a couple of years, maybe longer.

So, I have a few questions to the guys, who's already living here:

  1. I know the common practice on Jeju is to pay a full year of rent upfront plus a deposit (연세). How realistic is it to rent a decent, unfurnished three-room (쓰리룸) place with 20 million KRW in hand (for both deposit and year rent)?

  2. Where would you recommend looking for an apartment in December — local 부동산 offices, or browsing listings through Korean apps/aggregators (carrot, jejuall, naver)? For reference, I’m looking at the northern part of the island, Aewol specifically (but still not sure).

  3. What should I pay attention to when choosing an apartment on Jeju? I've got a decent understanding of how it works in Seoul, but maybe there's some island-specific stuff I should know about.

  4. Which area would you recommend if I want to be near the sea and close to cafés where I can sit and work? Basically a digital-nomad-friendly area if possible.

  5. I'm thinking about buying a scooter on Jeju (have korean driver license). Is it worth considering an electric one, or is the charging infrastructure there poor and I'd be better off with a regular petrol scooter like an NMAX 125?

  6. Any advice or hints on home internet provider? Stable internet matters a lot to me — I spend a lot of time on calls.

Very grateful for any comments and answers.

Travelling to Jeju visa free for the attending the Scientific conference + Tourism

Dear pals, I hold an citizenship from one of the asian country and living in Europe with EU blue card. I currently have to travel to Jeju from Europe for which I am planning to visit the Jeju directly through the China but not any Korean Mainland. Do I really need visa for this ? My country is in the list for the visa-free entrance to Jeju. But my only question is whether we need visa as I am there for the conference alongside a little tourism. Thank you very much

Jeju residents, what’s it like living in Jeju?

Long story short, my husband and I have recently relocated to South Korea, currently living in Seoul while we look for work and my husband got a job offer for a company in Jeju. Neither of us have been, so curious about insights from those who have lived there/currently living there. We relocated from the east coast in the US, so the idea of living by the water again is a huge plus in our eyes.

Along with general “what’s it like”, do you think a salary of ₩50M is enough to live comfortably there? Unfortunately I don’t speak Korean fluently yet, so we’d be relying on one income for a while, so looking to see how realistic that is. Thanks in advance!!
