How do i find an affordable reliable used car here?

I’m on the hunt for a small, dependable car that’s under 300,000 kilometres old and ideally around $5,000. It should be easy to drive to work and run errands, and it doesn’t need any major repairs.
But searching for that sort of thing around here is difficult anyone know of any good places to look?

group lunch suggestions...

In town for work and we'd like to grab some sandwiches or other tasty food (burritos? bowls?) for a group of 10-15 people for lunch. We woud pick it up.

A place that does some super yummy sandwiches or subs. Not necc. Subways (we've gone there and it's easy and cheap, but disappointing quality) but something similar.

Thanks for the suggestions!!

Did anyone (or their dash cam) witness a collision in the Aberdeen Mall parking lot by the Fresh St. Market entrance at 12:07 PM on Sunday, July 5?

My husband was backing out of parking spot and then a lady behind us started backing out of a parking spot. My husband came to a stop and started honking as soon as he saw that she started backing up, but she continued to back directly into our vehicle.

She claims she didn’t see us in her backup cam or hear us at all. We only have a front facing dash cam (unfortunately without sound) and are hoping for any witnesses or other dash cam footage.

The vehicles involved were a black Toyota Corolla and a white Nissan CX-50.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Pre grading service

Hello fellow card collectors!
As we all know, PSA is backed up to the point where they have closed some services. My question here is to garner interest in a potential pre grading service that evaluates cards before sending them in. This is not an advertisement.

I have 4a/3c hair and am don't know where to look for someone who knows how to cut my hair. Most portfolios I found online are of people with straight hair. Thanks in advance.

Dog Attack

I was walking my shih-tzu yesterday up a hill, in my neighbourhood (Westsyde), when a young girl (early teens??) was walking hers (twice as big, I couldn't say what breed) down the hill, in the opposite direction, on the other side of the street. The dog saw mine and made the decision to attack. The young owner didn't have enough strength to hang on, lost control, and I had to wrestle her dog to the ground before it finally stopped snapping at mine. I got lucky. It wasn't able to get a good grip on her. No blood. The young girl was very teary and apologetic. I then gave it back to her and proceeded on my way. When I got home, I looked my dog over (she was OK, amazingly) and decided to take a pic of the cuts and scrapes on my legs (I wasn't bitten) in case I needed some kind of evidence of the incident.

I'm not sure where to proceed from here and wouldn't mind hearing suggestions. My mother tells me that she's talked to the owner in the recent past and that he knew that he had a problem dog on his hands. Part of me just wanted to let it go - that the owner, after hearing this story from his daughter, will now have some VERY hard decisions to make about his dog - but obviously I'm struggling to do that. To say that the family allowed the daughter to walk the dog on her own(!!) pisses me off to say the least. Thoughts??

What is there to do in Kamloops?

I’ve got two months to kill, didn’t plan any trips this year, and some days I’m just bored half to death. What are some fun things to do in town? Also the dating scene here is bollocks (pretty homophobic city). Anyone with any suggestions?

Recs for activity-based gifts for parents with toddlers?

I want to buy an activity-based gift for a single-parent friend of mine who lives in Kamloops with their one year-old. I'm thinking of something like a gift memberships for either the Childrens Museum at the Kamloops Museum & Archives or the Big Little Science Centre.

I haven't visited either centre (I don't live in Kamloops) -- does anyone know which has better programming and activities for toddlers?

Or any other recommendations for baby-and-me type gift memberships?

Buy book store gift card from NS?

Hey all. A couple very good friends of mine are moving from Nova Scotia to Kamloops early August, one of whom’s birthday is coming up. I’d love to get her a gift card to a local book store in Kamloops so that she can get a book as a post driving across the country in a uhaul treat.

Thing is, I am also in Nova Scotia and unable to physically go into a Kamloops bookstore and pick one up for them. Is there a local Kamloops bookstore where I might be able to buy a gift card for online/over the phone/etransfer etc, that was either digital or able to be held onto in store until they arrive?

Thanks in advance!!

Canada Day Fireworks

Are there any good spots to park and view the fireworks from Riverside? My kids really want to see the fireworks this year but with the crowds I'd rather find a spot to have some ice cream and watch from the back of our truck!

Can anyone help with a Black widow?

Had a black widow at work today, unfortunately I had to wreck her home, got her in a jar, she needs some water (i put a moist q tip in the jar) and probably some food before I release her. Does anyone have some grubs or something I can give her? Or can anyone take care of her for a few days? You can take jar, if you bring one to replace it. Dm for details

Any dog friendly patios that are showing the games on Saturday?

Passing through Kamloops this weekend and hoping there’s a place to watch the game- we’ll have to checkout of our place before it starts so hoping there’s an option to bring the pup. I saw the riverside park viewing, has anyone who’s attended seen dogs there?

Anyone know of groups/events for practicing small talk?

so this is kinda embarrassing to admit but i genuinely struggle with casual conversation. like real bad. if its a meeting or something with a clear topic im fine, i can talk about that all day. but the second its just... chatting, my brain just goes blank. someone asks "hows it going" or we're just standing around waiting for something to start and i have NOTHING. like zero ideas of what to say.

ive read the generic advice (ask open ended questions, talk about the weather lol, etc) but knowing the theory doesnt really help when im actually in the moment, you know? i think i just need actual practice with low stakes people who arent gonna judge me for being awkward.

so wondering if anyone knows of:

toastmasters style groups but for casual convo instead of public speaking

meetup groups specifically for social skills practice

any apps or discord servers built around this

even just like... regular hobby groups that happen to be good for chatty practice

honestly anything helps at this point, even if its something you tried that didnt work for you, id like to know why. just trying to find a place where the whole point is practicing this stuff instead of feeling like im the only one who cant just "wing it"
