Why doesn't Kanata have a hospital?

The Queensway carleton hospital is always overburdened and between the Kanata-stittsville area there are 150,000 people. Given that population size, shouldn't we be investing in our own community hospital by now?

Sunscreen

Good afternoon,

I have been using Ombrelle sunscreen all summer but it leaves a white residue on my clothes and my car seat.

So I am currently trying Banana Boat which doesn’t leave a residue but is greasy.

Are there any brands not leaving a residue and not greasy?

Thought I would ask before wasting my money on another sunscreen.

Thanks!

NCC trails in Kanata are heavily damaged, parts are impassible

All the trails I have been on have some damage. Some trails are very badly damaged and are not passable on a bike. Some sections have eroded trenches 2-3' deep down to bedrock. Be very careful if you are biking. I will not be surprised if some sections are closed by the NCC.

Post Canada Day dissrrspect

To the adults who bought fireworks for their privilege children to celebrate Canada and only to disrespect it right after…

Set off fireworks on the field behind Roch Carrier Elementary School, and then irresponsibly leave the dispensed munitions (and one live), how you think this is acceptable is beyond words.

In future, please be mindful to pick up after yourselves should you really care about community cleanliness and most important of all, safety.

Where's Hubley?

I haven't seen anything from Hubley about yesterday's storm. No updates. No information. Many other councillors are checking in with residents and posting updates.

If this isn't a clear sign this guy has checked out and has lost interest in performing his job, I don't know what else it would take.

EDIT: The councillor FINALLY posted some information to his Facebook page about 45 minutes ago. A full 24 hours after the storms had ended and well behind nearly every other councillor AND the candidate running against him in the upcoming election (thanks Erin!!!). I guess he thought the postponing of the fireworks and an urgent request for volunteers was much more important than updating struggling residents on the worst storms we've seen in 25 years.

Ottawa police let my friend get away with drunk driving

Ottawa police let my friend get away with drunk driving

Hi. I'm still upset about the situation, so please bear with me on how I explain this. I called the cops on this girl who was driving drunk after going out, and she had my other friends in the car. I wasn't aware of how bad her driving was until I got in the car and witnessed her driving, and she passed a red light and was going 45km/h over the speed limit on baseline road. When we got to a mcdonalds nearby, I told her I wasn't comfortable with her driving drunk and I would take the keys (I haven't had anything to drink). She didn't care. My friends also didn't care. They left, and I called the cops to where they were headed. They all drove back to my friends house, and I ubered back there because my stuff were still there, and I wanted to just leave and go home. When I got there, my friends were already back, and the cops were just camping out. I let them know she was inside my friend's unit. They were just waiting for not doing anything. They like saw her car and they felt it and saw it was hot. I went in to grab my stuff, and I argued with the girl, and she was admitting to me how many shots she took and how much she was smoking. I left and went out, told the cops she wasn't coming out, and they tried going in but left and said they weren't allowed in the unit? My friend gave me a ride back to my place, and she told me while I was grabbing my other stuff that I forgot the cops just left. I called 911 again when I got back (I know, I shouldn't have, but I was so frustrated), and they said cops were still placed, but that was it. Now I was told that the girl who was drunk driving gave her car to a friend and she took it, dropped her off and took the car elsewhere. The cops straight up told me that there was no reason for her to get charged. I don't know the law but I want to stop this. Everyone is defending her but I want to stop her from drunk driving ever again. Please let me know what I can do. The cops are useless.

Update on assistance for storm damage impacted residents from Mayor

from Mayor mark Sutcliffe page “Today's record rainfall has caused significant flooding and power outages in several areas of the city. City staff and Hydro Ottawa crews have been deployed to respond as quickly and effectively as possible.

I have been in contact with city councillors in many of the affected areas, and my office is working with city staff on a number of measures to respond and support residents. We will provide a full operational update tomorrow including all relevant departments and Ottawa Hydro.

I will also ask staff to suspend garbage limits in certain wards for the next week so that residents can dispose of damaged material. And I will bring a motion to the next council meeting to waive building permit fees for all residents who need to rebuild their basement because of these storms. Stay tuned for more updates.”
