New Polls for Upcoming By-Elections Show Strong Liberal Leads; NDP Rebound

If Poliwave’s polling numbers are accurate, the New Democratic Party will come out of the upcoming federal by-elections as the biggest winner. Though they are not expected to seriously contest any of these three seats, Poliwave does project the NDP to more than double their vote share in every riding. If this trend holds steady, the NDP would be likely to regain party status in the next federal election.

during COVID, i feel like Danny’s spiritual aura shifted from millenial to gen Z

i don’t know how to describe it, but i find that Danny’s videos, humor, and general vibe pre-2020 was very millennial, whereas afterwards it transitioned to being more Gen-Z or at least zillenial

does anyone else feel the same way

Alistair Johnston Appreciation Post

This man just fully recovered in May from a season-ending injury, and then he proceeded to play all 450 minutes of game-time for Canada at the World Cup, constantly providing both offensive threat and clutch recoveries on the right side.

He was second on the team in chances created, led the team in expected assists, and was still top 4 in defensive contributions per 90.

Any time the team needed a long throw, he was there. Any time the team needed energy, he was there. Any time the team needed a leader — whether in play or in mentality — Alistair Johnston was there.

Is my landlord allowed to do this?

I’m trying to re-assign or sublet my lease for a bedroom in a student housing unit (non-affiliated with a school) which resumes in September of 2026

The company has offered me two solutions: pay now (to the tune of a little over a thousand dollars) to terminate my lease, or assign it, which I’m now learning that, to them, this simply means find anyone to take any one of their units, not necessarily mine

My main question is if they’re allowed to refuse a sublet or assignment at the same rate i’m currently paying. I’ve been here since 2022, so I am paying a little less than incoming tenants would, and thought that this is something I could use to attract potential assignees

This whole thing feels a little off to me. Is there a chance that I can just get out scot-free if the lease I received isn’t the Ontario standard lease? I’m currently in the process of trying to find that form, as the company has also been reluctant to give me that

Moving out with active lease question

Hi Reddit experts! I have lived with a student housing company in Ottawa since September 2022. This past April, I renewed my lease thinking I would be living there again come September, but I ended up buying a home

My lease is from September to April, with me being allowed to store items in my room from May to August

On the phone with the student housing company, they told me that if we were to terminate the lease, I’d be responsible for rent in May and June – rent which I do not pay

What are my options here? Can I sublet, being that I have no intention to return to the property? Are they even able to charge me for these months (or is this completely dependent on fine print in the lease)?

Any insight helps!
