Beaver lake resort: swimming?

Hi there! We're staying in the cabins at the beaver lake resort next week with our toddlers. I was wondering if anyone can share whether it's a good swimming lake and if so, is it generally warm enough for young kids? Thanks!

Some information on the owner of the El Dorado Hotel.

Ted Callahan is a prominent and wealthy real estate developer and businessman based in Kelowna, British Columbia.

He serves as the President and CEO of Argus Properties Ltd., a major local development company with an extensive portfolio of commercial, residential, and hospitality assets in the Okanagan region.

Over the last several years, Callahan has been frequently featured in local news due to high-profile corporate feuds and high-stakes personal litigation.

**High-Profile Legal Battles**

*The $300 Million Family Feud:*

Ted Callahan has been locked in a bitter, multi-decade legal war against his three brothers—Douglas, Bruce, and Robert—who operate the separate Callahan Property Group. The dispute stems from the liquidation of shared family assets following the passing of their father, Lloyd Callahan. The Shasta Trailer Park Sale: The most visible battle involved the Shasta Mobile Home Park, an 18.5-acre premier development site on Lakeshore Road. After years of blocking his brothers' attempts to liquidate it, a B.C. Supreme Court judge officially approved the sale of the land to Ted's brothers for $42.6 million, rejecting Ted's own conditional $45 million competing bid.

*"Profoundly Unfair" Divorce Ruling:*

Callahan was involved in a landmark family law case (Bradley v. Callahan). After a 40-day trial and subsequent appeal, the B.C. Court of Appeal overturned a strict prenuptial marriage agreement. The court ruled it "profoundly unfair" because Callahan's corporate assets grew exponentially to an estimated $127 million during the 17-year marriage, while his former partner received minimal asset division. The court ordered a substantial reapportionment of those corporate assets.

Best Carrot Cake?

Hi everyone! I am getting married in Kelowna, and we're hoping to get some recommendations on the best bakeries for carrot cake. I know it's not everyones cup of tea, don't worry, the guests will have assorted cupcakes to choose from 😅 So please let me know if you have a recommendation and we'll check it out when we go to meet vendors. Cheers!

Eldorado Boardwalk

I’ve seen a lot recently about the Eldorado boardwalk being illegally closed by the owner. I hadn’t realized ownership had changed over recent years to Ted Callaghan. There are certain things in Kelowna that point to his character and pattern of thinking the rules don’t apply to him.

Need a place to sleep for one night.

Hey guys,

I am heading to kelowna for a couple days, but I messed up my travel dates, and ending up staying in kelowna for an extra night.

I just need to find a place to sleep for one night because my air bnb is booked from Tuesday to thursday, but I'm leaving Friday afternoon.

Ideally, my budget is 60 to 100 bucks for the night, ( I know that's not enough considering it's Kelowna, but worth a shot if possible)

Going later in mid July, so if anyone has any recommendations, that'd be great!

Thanks

Bamboo Chopsticks restaurant

I was chewing my meal and got a sharp, hard piece in my mouth. See picture

I sent a message to Bamboo and received a nice message about how sorry they were and asked for the location I ordered from. In the email, she also.said ahe recognized.the object.as coming from their "bin" I emailed back stating it was the Kelowna Ellis.St location. No response. I sent 2 more emails within 5 days to follow.up. No response. I even told them I would do a google review if they didn't reply. No response. So here I am. This sharp object could've caused a lot of damage. I think the public should be aware because there was a similar incident posted on Google reviews last year in September. I'm pushing this forward. We shouldn't have to be at risk when eating at our local restaurants

Wild Fires in the Kelowna Area

I was just reading that there was a fire in Kalamoir Park in the West Kelowna area. Has anybody been affected by this fire?

For anybody living in the Kelowna area, have you had any health impacts from wildfire air pollution in the past?

Has there been any wildfire remediation efforts from the local fire department or provincial wildfire authorities to prevent wildfires from igniting in the area?

Thanks
