Moving to Kelowna from Alberta
Which is the easiest and best way to handle a new car? Buy in Alberta, move to Kelowna and go through, inspection, re-plating and BC insurance, or buying in Kelowna, plating and insuring at the time of purchase?

Even though I have home insurance now, I was exploring a new bundled policy for a BC property and my Alberta home through a BC underwriter. I was shocked to discover that multiple BC underwriters would not insure my Alberta home solely due to my professionally installed solar system that has been fully functioning for five years. No claims, never missed a payment in over forty years. May I ask, WTF is that about?
What can I expect in dealing with ICBC for auto insurance? To provide a little context, I find that generally insurance providers are difficult to deal with, they never pick up the damn phone when I call and premiums are scandalously high. I can’t imagine ICBC being any worse. I’d appreciate any thoughts and advice.
An interesting debate continues within the VW Community on the Volkswagen recommendation for oil change interval; 15,000kms. VW is firm on this providing we use their premium synthetic oil which is VW 508.00/509.00 0W-20. I’m new to VW and for someone who is a bit old school and a maintenance fanatic this seems too extended. I’m a big fan of Subaru and I’m curious what is recommended.
I’m looking in and around Kelowna and I’ve come across the Troika Square Green development. Looks fabulous on the outside. Any thoughts or experiences with Troika and this particular development and its build quality?
I know we’ve flogged this subject endlessly but let me flog it one more time. VW has assured me that the service interval for my 2026 Taos is 15,000 kms or one year. This assurance is given providing that I always ( and they do mean always! ) use the VW synthetic spec VW508.00/509.00 SAE 0W-20 motor oil. Does anyone have any experience that brings into question this 15,000km interval?
I’m seeing these ‘devices’ more and more as of late. What the heck are they for? Wind noise mitigation? Rain diversion away from an open window? My TAOS has some wind noise and wondering if these are a solution?
These AirX clubs are offset. What change in my setup should I make for an offset club?
Can anyone tell me what this option actually does? When should it be used?
Does the turbo run essentially ‘full time’? The lag is obvious part way through the first gear acceleration but other than that I can’t tell regardless of engine load.
I’ve never used this driving mode but wondering about the results of those who have? Thoughts and comments welcome.
