Anubis and Hekate. This is an amazing find. I've never seen the Greek and Egyptian magical traditions so closely aligned. Hekate is mentioned in the PGM but I thought it was a Greek source.

It is a plaster impression of an ancient Greco-Egyptian magical gem (intaglio) dating back to around the 2nd Century AD. Part of the collections at the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin (Berlin State Museums). Cataloged in the Campbell Bonner Magical Gems Database under ID Number DE-Berlin-Aeg_9864 (CBd-221). The gemstone was carved out of green and red jasper.

The voces magicae (magical words of power) combine the incantatory power of the divine world of the Ogdoad and the specific, chthonic powers of the Egyptian god of the underworld and Hekate, guide through the portals of death and to a new life in reincarnation.

The impression given by the museum curator suggests this is a gem to be used to bring down suffering on others. I suggest it's meant to protect the living and to provide guidance after death to a life of wisdom and joy in the afterlife and beyond.

Anubis combines the one who helps prepare the soul for the afterlife, as judge of the soul's life on earth, and guide through the halls of death. Combined with the invocation of the Ogdoad - the primal powers that gave birth to the universe - we see that the charm is meant for regeneration and rebirth.

  • ΦΟΡΒΑΦΟΡΒΗ (Phorbaphorbē) - Powerful, rhythmic variation of Phorba; known secret magical name used to invoke Hekate as a cosmic, all-consuming deity.
  • ΒΡΙΜΩ (Brimō) - "The Terrifying" or "The Angry One". A formidable epithet used almost exclusively for underworld goddesses like Hekate, Demeter, or Persephone when acting in their fiercest capacities.
  • ΟΓΔΩ (Ogdō) - Refers to the divine and holy Ogdoad (the number eight), which represents the eight fundamental primordial deities of Egyptian mythology, bridging Hekate's identity with the Egyptian cosmos overseen by Anubis.

Update!! 💚💗

I recently painted this and I like how it looks. It looks a little odd because I made a small mistake while painting it, but I fixed it and it looks decent. That's where I'll put water offerings and small offering objects. It's not much, but I like it.

Are tricksters as common as people make them out to be?

Hey guys, I've been getting a lot of flack lately from family members thinking that I'm working with trickster spirits or something akin to "demons" and that any Heka that I do has negative repressions on me and honestly it's left me questioning if I'm fundamentally going about this the wrong way. Were the ancients that paranoid about tricksters and evil spirits coming through posing as one of the Netjeru?

I even got told by one of my aunts that's a Santera that I shouldn't even be doing magic or heka because I'm not trained to do it, idk guys, I'd appreciate any tips or advice cause I do want to get better at this.

Prayer request

Again, I'm really sorry to sound so pathetic lately, but I'm reaching my limit of bottling up my feelings. I'm young and mentally ill so even the smallest things when bottled up make me explode. I'm taking a small break with talking with the deities because I either have no time or I just can't because of my strict christian household. I had enough of people humiliating me and treating me like shit at school. I won't go into details since it's a long story, but I decided to cut out my ex friends because they hurt me real bad and now they're doing anything to hurt me. They spread false rumors about me and the whole class is against me. I'm getting attacked spiritually and the bruises are getting worse, I don't hit furnitures or anything. I don't want protection at this point, I want justice. I know revenge is a fools' game, but I'm really at my limit. No one respects me and no one listens to my cries or help, not even in my family, not even in therapy. I want justice, I want karma to give them what they did to me 10 times worse.

ME AJUDEM

How Do I Go About Becoming Kemetic?

Hi all!

I am not sure if this kind of post is allowed in this subreddit, so please remove if it is not allowed!

Ever since I was young I have had an infatuation with the Ancient Egyptians and their religious practices. I have a collection of Ancient Egyptian papyrus artwork and loads of books. Despite this, I have avoided getting into the religious aspect due to the fact that I am from a white, catholic household. I know that this is an open practice religion, but I cannot help but feel guilty about wanting to learn.

No other religion I have ever been exposed to / learned about has caught my attention as much as Kemetism has. If anyone has any recommendations on where I should start, I would really appreciate it.

Disrespect??

Hey everyone, I have a quick question. I play a game where you can choose from various options and select different romantic interests. One of the stories is Egyptian-themed. The problem with this story is that it features Egyptian gods as romantic interests (Anubis and Seth), and even includes adult scenes with them ☠️

I started playing this story a few months ago and haven't finished it yet. But now I'm wondering if it would be disrespectful to the gods to play games like this, considering I'm religious. I haven't chosen either of them, but I'm still a little worried that it might be wrong or disrespectful. It might be a silly question, but I wanted to ask just in case. If it does seem wrong, at least I didn't choose them.

dreamt of sobek? should i reach out?

I'm not coming to ask for any dream interpretations, I just wanted to share a brief experience, because I don't generally have dreams of any spiritual beings in a way, not even of the deities I follow.

Last night I'd thought so surely that the crocodile in my dream must've been Sobek, because I thought of his name while in the dream (not just upon waking after), and I'm wondering if I should take it seriously while his name is still fresh in my mind.

How do you generally move forward with a vision so vague as that? Its a first for me, and he isn't someone I've ever looked towards until now. I'm open to suggestions on how I might make a connection with him or to ask what he came to me for. Any Sobek followers would especially be welcomed to give advice if you wish. Thanks and much love to you all

Tell me about the gods!

I am primarily Hellenic! Though, I've always had an interest in expanding to Kemeticism, I never really did because I feel I don't know enough. (I have a Greek background so I grew up with stories and worship.)

I am currently looking into, Konshu, Rha, Osiris, and Isis! (I feel these are well known and easier to find common info on.)

I suppose, I'd like to start with the people who actively practice? What God are you currently worshipping or devoted to, what is it like, and what are some of your favorite stories I should look into or hear about?

makeup as an offering?

so i’m a bit new to any kind of deity work/worship, and i really want to make an offering specifically to anpu as i would like to start working with him. i know that offerings like bread and water are always safe bets, but i was wondering if doing my makeup in the colors typically associated with anpu (and tbh in general if doing makeup in colors associated with any deity) could be considered as an acceptable or appropriate offering?

Working with Konshu

Hey, im new to the Kemetic religion, but I worship a few other God's, just recently i had a dream about Konshu, and I figure he was reaching out to me, I want to start worship with him and I also might do shadow work with him. Any advice? Ive heard he's a strict deity and doesn't tolerate laziness and is kinda like a tough dad, I wanna know how much of that is true. I cant find any resources on tiktok because I guess not alot of people on there worship him, so I came to reddit. Thanks guys.
