Questions about the dual clutch.

I have a 22 PHEV with just under 60k. I'm planning on getting the transmission fluid serviced soon, but I'm also wondering about the clutches. Has anyone had to have the clutches replaced due to wear? On manual cars they usually last betweek 50-100k and I want to make sure I can budget for it ahead of time.

Also a bit of a technical question: when using the car in EV mode, does anyone happen to know if the clutch slips when starting from a complete stop, or if it stays fully engaged while stopped?

EV Road Trip

Going on a 1000 mile (each way) road trip next month and debating taking my 26’ EV. We planned out stops and seems it’ll add about 3 hours total to the trip. Anyone else done this? Just trying to gauge what we should expect for a trip like this

Any suggestions for roof box

Hey folks, I recently purchased the Niro SX 2026 in Canada. We’re a kid-less couple with two dogs, and I’m looking for recommendations for a roof box, and also the bars. Thanks in advance!

Check engine light keeps going on in 2019 Niro Hybrid

Hey all,

I'm going a little crazy here. Our check engine light keeps going on every few days or weeks. We have a very honest mechanic and other than a faulty valve of some kind, he's found nothing wrong. He says we're probably not tightening the gas cap enough but this was never an issue before and I tighten it every time as far as it can go. Any idea what's going on?

Thanks.

Heat Exchanger Bypass

I know there are a few other posts about bypassing the heat exchanger, but the NAPA part # that they use is unavailable now so thought I would post up what I made work for anyone who needs it down the road.

Gates Hose Part #19768 worked like a dream and fits perfectly 👌

Time to say goodbye

Last month, while going through Macon, Ga, Guy behind me didn't realize traffic stopped and he rearended me. The car is a total loss it's a 2023 and I'm going to miss that baby. But I'm not too unhappy because now I've got my Sportage that I really wanted to begin with and yes it is a hybrid. 😅

Niro Halogen to LED/Xenon Upgrade Advice

Hey, I’ve just bought a 2019 Kia Niro and it came with halogen headlights. To be honest, I really dislike the yellow light and I’m thinking of replacing them with xenon or LED lights like the ones on the Niro 4.
Has anyone done this before? How easy is it to replace them?
Also, do they give a proper straight beam/projection at night? I don’t want to dazzle oncoming traffic.

LX hybrid

does the LX hybrid have adaptive cruise control? Not the fancy navigation based one on the higher trims, just following the car in front at a set distance if below the set speed?

Dealership or elsewhere for oil change?

First hybrid I own, a 26 Niro. About to hit my first 5000 miles and getting ready to take it in for it's first oil change here in northern IL. My previous car, I'd just take it to a LubePros and never had any issues.

With this being a hybrid, would that still fly? Or would it best dealing with the dealership? Personally, I'd rather not, what with fishy tactics and all those stories of them charging an arm and a leg for like a simple peek at things. But I know hybrids and EVs in general may need more specific care so I'll bite my tongue and grit my teeth and bare it if I have to.

What say you good folks?

Water collecting in the passenger foot well

I’ve noticed that there is water collecting in the passenger foot well in our plastic waterproof car mats. I’m assuming it’s water. I wonder if it’s condensate from the air conditioner as anyone had this issue before and if so, does anyone have any ideas where the source may be? 2017 hybrid with the catalytic converter bypass done. Thanks in advance.!

Update: I made it!

2018 HEV now at 102,292miles.

4 days - 2,360.5 miles. Averaged 45.6mpg over the whole trip. Car fully packed with boxes & suitcases, cargo box with a couple duffle bags, and a bike on the back. Very, very happy with how well it did!

Now... anyone in the Chicago area want a cargo box? Lol

Looking for advice, warning lights

Twice now while driving all of these warning lights came on and the auto brake/regenerative braking cut out. First time happened shortly before getting home and the next morning they went away after driving for 30 seconds. Today they came on while driving and then a few minutes later I dropped off my partner, turned the car off, then turned it on and again after a few moments the lights went off.

There was a software update a few days ago before this started

Water making it into the door?

Hello,

I've noticed when I put a window down the day after sometimes several days after and then roll it back up there's vertical water streaks on my driver and front pax windows. They aren't soaked so to speak, my only concern is water not escaping and causing excessive rust or corrosion developing where it shouldn't be.

Is this something I should be concerned about or something others have experienced?

Chicago buyers--how much are you getting off MSRP (if at all)?

Looking at a brand-new 2026 Niro Hybrid EX, with a window sticker MSRP of roughly $32,000 (before taxes and fees). Seems high to me but I've never bought new before.

I can't tell if demand is high in this area (justifying the cost) or if this price is just padded. If you have any intel or first-hand experience, that would be super helpful. There's no dealer-added options on it at that price, so not much to remove. Thanks!

End of my Niro

I totaled my Niro when I hit a deer on the highway. Rip Niro and rip deer.

Wishing I could find another used Niro in my area, but they are very few and far between. Mine was a 2017 and I loved it.

Used 2019 Niro with Clutch and Water Pump replaced-should I buy?

I'm seriously looking at a 2019 Niro PHEV for a great price ($17.5k) with 74,000 miles. However on the CARFAX it had its clutch replaced by a Kia dealer and it's water pump replaced as well. This was done 20,000 miles ago before it was sold to the used dealership I'm looking to buy from.
I called that Kia service dept and they said the gears were grinding between 2nd and 3rd gears so they replaced the clutch and actuator and it fixed all the problems. Again that was 20k miles ago.
Should I be worried about this car? Would you stay away from it?
I'm having an inspection tomorrow, anything they should look specifically at that's not obvious?

Radio Issues

Hi all,

I’m new to Kia and have a “new to me” 2019 Ev. It’s been 3 weeks and the radio has shown some gremlins for a few times this week. Any thoughts?
