Hey everyone, I need some help. I have a Kia Niro HEV and I’m having constant issues with Android Auto.

I use it with a USB cable connection, but Android Auto keeps randomly disconnecting while driving. Sometimes it happens multiple times during the same trip. I work for Uber, so this is becoming a serious problem, both for navigation and safety while driving.

I’m using a Samsung phone and the cable seems to be good quality, but I’m starting to wonder if the cable could actually be the issue.

Has anyone else experienced this with the Niro HEV?

  • Was it the cable?
  • Phone settings?
  • Android Auto itself?
  • The car’s USB port?
  • Infotainment system update?

What would you recommend I do?
Any real experience or suggestions would really help. Thanks!

2021 PHEV windshield sunshade

Bought a sunshade from Cover King specifically to fit my Niro since they are well insulated. It leaves a gap of a few inches around the rear view mirror so I returned it. I emailed them and they said that's normal to allow some light in. Any other vendors I should look at that totally blocks out light? It gets to 115° out during our summer.

Oil change notification at 1,841 km

I just got this 2025 Kia Niro PHEV EX in April, and after only 1,841 km, it prompted me today for an oil change. Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice on whether this is normal or if I should get it checked out?

Kia Niro reliablilty vs Gen 2 prius

I have been a die hard gen 2 prius girl since 2015, when they were new-ish. They are so reliable, I'm familiar with the common issues and almost every problem I've had with one, I've fixed myself (except replacing the hybrid batter). I am moving back to the US from abroad and thinking about a Hybrid Niro because I'm going to live in the car while doing law school! I wanted bigger space than a prius and something more reliable because the priuses I love are old and needing repairs on a regualr basis.

Most of the Hybrid Niros in my budget are 2017-2020 and have 100-120K miles. Would all consider these models, at these miles, to be reliable? How easy is working on the Niros yourself? I read that the 12v batterys are hard to access and change without going to a dealership

Greetings! I just got my first Niro!

I have had the Telluride, and the Sorento. I decided to focus on mpg and price as I will be needing to buy my son his first car in a few years. 2025 Kia Niro SX. New...ish. About 4000k miles and was used as a loaner for the dealership. It's been an adjustment coming from larger SUVs but I do love it so far. Trying to learn the hybrid paddles and driving habits for better gas mileage.

2018 Kia Niro PHEV owners — how reliable has it been long term?

I have been doing a lot of research on hybrids and phevs lately and I keep coming back to the 2018 kia niro plug in hybrid. I know everyone says the Prius prime and honda clarity are some of the best hybrid vehicles out there, and I respect that but honestly I just don’t love how they look. The niro feels more like something I’d actually enjoy driving every day.

I’m looking for something reliable, good on gas, low maintenance, and something I can keep for a long time. I’ll probably be buying one used with higher miles, so I wanted to hear from actual owners.bHow has the Niro been for you long term? Or any major issues or things I should watch out for?

Thanks.

Battery feedback.

So what’s everyone paying for their 12v battery to be replaced in their hybrids?

Has anyone had to replace their Hybrid battery, if yes at what mileage and cost?

Really considering getting a used 2018 Hybrid Ex with 67k miles. It’s my first Hybrid and has no warranty from Kia anymore so I can’t help to be a bit nervous about the batteries going out early especially because I live in brutal heat weather.

I may be overthinking it too much at this point. Any feedback would be appreciated. TIA

Kia Niro Hybrid 2023 65k mileage vs MG HS 2022 24k mileage

Hi Folks,

I am going to buy the car tomorrow. I have finalised on Kia Niro Hybrid 2023 (newer model trim 2) for 14k price but looking at price and mileage MG HS looks good deal to me . If i raise my budget 1k more i can get a newer MG with lesser mileage.

Now i am confused , thinking Kia is more reliable and has used saleable price but i am first time driver and just do occasionally drive just social one thinking og MG now.

Please advise

Tire pressure too high

When I got my new Niro LX the pressure on the Nexen tires was way too high? Why would the dealer do that? I’ve brought them down from 48 to 36 psi since.

2021 Kia Niro Hybrid Wheel Upgrade Advice Stay on 16s or Go Bigger?

So I’ve got a 2021 Kia Niro Hybrid. It’s been great for my commute, but I want to give it a bit of a glow-up with some nicer wheels.

Right now it’s on 16” alloys. I’m considering going a bit bigger, but I’m not sure how much it’ll affect the overall look, comfort, efficiency, etc. If I stick with 16s, I can probably reuse my current tyres and save some money, but going bigger would mean buying both wheels and tyres.

I’m also completely clueless about where to buy decent alloys in Kent (or whether upgrading is even worth it on a Niro!). The car’s still under Kia’s 7-year warranty too — bought it in Feb 2026 — so I don’t want to do anything that could cause issues with warranty or insurance.

Anyone here upgraded the wheels on a Niro? Would love to see photos/specs and hear recommendations.

Has anyone Debadged their 2023 Niro?

I’m looking to see if there are placement holes behind the front and back KIA logo. I have an alternate badge ready and will probably try this next week but want to know if others have done this.

Brand new: 2026 EX or 2025 EX Touring?

I plan to purchase a brand new Niro within the next month and have decided on the EX trim level. I figured I would just go with the 2026 EX, but then I found that a few regional dealerships still have new 2025 EX Touring models hanging around. The 18" wheels seem like the biggest selling point to me since I live somewhere that gets all four seasons; I don't particularly care about the sunroof or the minor styling differences. Are there any other reasons I should or shouldn't be considering the 2025, especially if I can save a few grand on it?

Air filter help for Kia Niro 2022 HEV (UK)

Hi all, I have a Kia Niro 2022 HEV United Kingdon model (although the number plate reads 21) and I need to replace the air filter. I have done quite a lot of searches for them online and it's a bit confusing trying to narrow down the exact one that would fit my car.

I was looking for one that offers the highest quality filtration and any help pointing me towards one or two to consider would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you. 😄

Stop and tail lamp replacement- anyone done it themselves?

Howdy! Trying to change out the stop and tail lamp. This is the part that is on the lift gate, not the body of the car. The owner’s manual says it needs to go to a dealer (second pic).

Has anyone done this themselves? I couldn’t find any resources online to do this.

Thank you!
