Hello Reddit Family,

Two years ago, my life was completely different.

I was building my startup, traveling across India on my bike, dreaming big, and working nonstop to build a better future.

Today, I’m fighting just to walk again.

My name is Soumya Chakraborty (40M, Kolkata, India).

In January 2023, a car accident changed my life forever.

A severe spinal cord injury left me paralyzed from the waist down.

One day I was running a startup and planning the future.
The next, I was lying in a hospital bed at Fortis Hospital, unable to even sit up on my own.

For 18 months, my life became:

  • hospital rooms
  • physiotherapy
  • pain
  • wheelchairs
  • fear
  • and uncertainty

My startup shut down
I exhausted ₹18,00,000 of savings
I sold assets, liquidated gold & mutual funds
Many friends and colleagues slowly disappeared

And just when I was trying to recover…

life hit me again.

In March 2024, doctors at the Institute of Neurosciences, Kolkata diagnosed me with Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS) — a chronic autoimmune disease attacking my spine.

The disease causes severe pain, stiffness, and progressive immobility.

To prevent my condition from worsening permanently, I now require:

Scapho injections: ₹20,000/month
Physiotherapy: ₹500/session (twice daily)

Without continued treatment, I risk losing even the small recovery progress I’ve fought so hard for.

But through all of this…

one person never gave up on me.

My 70-Year-Old Mother

My father passed away 11 years ago.

My mother — despite her age and fragile health — became my caregiver, nurse, emotional support, and reason to keep fighting.

There were days when I wanted to give up completely.

She refused to let me.

She still works despite being 70, just so my treatment can continue.

Every small improvement I’ve made exists because she stood beside me when life collapsed.

My Hope

I lost my health.
I lost my startup.
I lost the life I once knew.

But I have not lost the will to fight.

My dream is still simple:

  • Walk again
  • Take care of my mother in her old age
  • Rebuild my life and someday build again

Thank you for reading my story.

BEST EVER TRIO RIVALRY IN Kolllywood? 👀

Just asking.. Even though Suriya is in a downfall phase. Does any other trio beat them in terms of mass hysteria and fanwars ? 👀

What do Kollywood audiences really want now? Story-driven films like Vidaamuyarchi/Retro, mass entertainers like GBU/Karuppu, story + mass films like Vikram/Leo, or experimental non-linear films like Nolan movies? Every film gets mixed reactions now.

Too much route mafia going on

Idk if this sub has heavy PR and route mafia influence. But on the other popular Kollywood related subs, they are fully influenced by PRs and route mafias. This is like shutting down people's voice. Nanga kasu kuduthu padam paathu tha avungala ela celebrities avu , successful movies agavum vechurukom. Ana antha people oda opinion ah fulla edhume ilama alikurakum , narrative ah set pandrakum , manipulate pandrakum pee thanama intha route mafia panitu irukanga. I was watching Kanaa movie and in this scene, I noticed that I could recognize this woman. Is this Keneesha?

Has she acted in any other movie?
