[Other] [D&D 5E 2024] [GMT+1] Eberron bi-weekly Wednesdays night game looking for one player to join us!

Hi there! I'm running a D&D game set in Eberron, and we recently lost our 5th player, so I am here looking for a new hero to join our gang. The things to know:

When? We play every two weeks, on Wednesdays, from 8 pm GMT+1 until 11.30pm/midnight. Your first session would be either on May 26th or June 9th. Being able to commit to this schedule is my main request, of course.

How? Foundry and Discord.

Rules. I run a very by-the-books D&D 2024 game. Campaign is written by me, with a strong main plot and inserting the PCs backstories into the game. No Homebrew allowed (except some items given by me, the DM). Only 3rd party allowed is material by Keith Baker himself.

Current Status. I am an experienced DM with over 20 years of D&D games. Table is mostly newish players. Experience is not a factor; I'll welcome veterans and newbies to both D&D and/or Eberron alike. The campaign (and group) has been together for only 6 sessions, and just reached level 4.

Character Expectations. I'm mainly looking for a player that will vibe with our group. The group enjoys roleplaying and combat in equal measure, and we have a pretty relaxed vibe. That said, I will also consider character concepts: the party is good on the tank/dps aspect, but could use more healing and/or a Face. Hence, Clerics, Bards, Sorcerers, and Paladins will probably get an edge when considering our next companion.

Are you interested? Fill this form and I will get in touch!

Liminal Library [5E24][18+][Beginner Friendly][LGBTQ+ Friendly][UTC+1][Online][English][Westmarches]

https://discord.gg/yMnRdHF6x

Hi everyone. This is the very beginning of this game. I have ~10 years experience as a DM but this will be my first multi-group campaign.

Liminal Library is a west-marches style campaign where players act in unsynchronized groups in a shared world. The campaign revolves around a seemly infinite library that exists in a demi-plane. Inspired by the Library of Babel, The library is said to contain all knowledge that has ever been known and could ever be known, as well as tomes upon tomes of non-sense. Of course this would be infinitely useless were it not for the Bookkeepers, an equally infinite workforce of constructs that organize the books by the value of the information contained within. Deeper floors house more powerful secrets, more dangerous recipes, and more useful information. The setting is inspired by liminal space horror like House of Leaves and the backrooms. I also want to capture the feel of the "professional dungeoning" genre from shows like Dungeon Meshi. I intend the campaign to not just be a combat slog and there should be plenty of room for things to happen outside of the dungeon like town building, politics, world lore, etc.

An entrance to the Library has opened in the small hamlet of Acre in the Kingdom or Obril. Other known entrances exist, but none so easily accessible. Adventurers, merchants, guilds, and others that seek wealth, knowledge, or power flock to the otherwise unremarkable highlands of Obril. Actions taken by the players will influence how Acre changes. Constructing buildings, hiring craftsmen, influencing politics, and/or whatever other ideas you bring to the table, will all be included in the growth of Acre, Obril, and the larger world.

[Online][5e 2014][UK BST][Wednesday]LGBTQ+ Friendly. Curse of Strahd. New-ish DM looking for 3 or 4 players for a Wednesday night trip to Barovia

Edit: Thanks for your replies everyone. This post is now closed 😄

Hello everyone,

I hope you're well. I'm Sarah, I'm 33 and I'm looking to DM a Curse of Strahd campaign. I've been playing D&D for about 4 years now, but I started DMing last year.

I have 2 excellent players already, and we're looking for 3 or 4 more people to join us on a little jaunt over to Barovia.

Important Info:

Time: Wednesdays at 18:30 BST. May be 19:00. There's a little flexibility in the start time but Wednesday is definite.
Frequency: Weekly
Platforms: Discord for voice chat. I'll be trying out the D&DBeyond VTT to begin with and then we can decide as a group if we want to stay there or move over to roll20.
Requirements: A good connection and a good microphone. We won't be using cameras.
Age Restriction: 21+. The current group is 30+.
Experience: The game is open to new and experienced players

The Campaign

Following the standard Curse of Strahd campaign module. We'll be playing 2014 rules with a couple of 2024 things brought over.

Curse of Strahd has some pretty heavy topics, which will all be discussed properly in session 0. A lot of things will be veiled, but we'll definitely cover some of the themes in session 0 and talk about comfort. We'll also be using player safety tools to make sure we're all having the best time we can.

Playstyle and Group

We're a little group at the moment, with me and 2 players. We're chilled and laid back, and are excited to meet some new people. I like to make a campaign that has a good balance of RP, exploration and combat. I also like to make sure your character's stories are tied into the campaign, and will work closely with you to include your backstory.

If you'd like to join, reply here, or pop me message with your Discord. I'll arrange a time for us to have a chat to answer questions, get to know each other, and see what we're after from the game.

We'd like to get a session 0 in within the next 2 weeks so that we can get into the game.

I look forward to hearing from you soon 😄

[Online][Other][Monday][11 AM MST/GMT-7] Need players for a Legend in the Mist campaign

Hello. I need 2-3 players to round out a group for a brand new campaign for Legend in the Mist. The game will be weekly, every Monday at 11 AM MST/GMT-7, and will run for ~4 hours.

I will be GM’ing this system for the first time, and both new and experienced players are welcome. Don’t worry about not knowing the rules, as this is a newly released system, and I expect all of us will be learning together.

The setting will be using official published material, but with input from all players on various specifics to help fill in parts of the world.

Character creation will be a collaborative affair; questions will be asked that will establish connections between the characters and each other, as well as their history and ties to the world.

The buy-in for the campaign is that you have a home that you seek to defend from some external threat, and will have to travel to far off locations, and deal with strange folk, to find the knowledge you need to protect your family and friends.

Although the characters will be presented with a wide world, the campaign won’t be focused on free exploration; there’s a set goal in mind that you’ll need to be willing to pursue. If you prefer to play as a rootless wanderer, this game might not be a good fit for you. If you prefer a purely monster slaying and loot gathering experience, this game might not be a good fit for you.

I don’t expect the campaign to run for years, but depending on the group dynamics, it could be around 8 months or so of sessions to reach the end, give or take some postponements and adjustments.

We will be using Discord for voice, and Foundry (via Forge) to play the game.

Apply here.

Link

If selected, expect me to contact you via Discord, and we can chat for a bit about any questions you might have. Expect our session 0 to be on the 25th, and our first gameplay session the following week.

Hope to hear from you!

[GMT/BST] [Online] [PF2e/Flexible] Looking to gather a group for Sunday afternoon/evening games!

Hello!

Call me T.

I am a long time lover of TTRPGs, who hasn't been able to play/DM in years due to life commitments. I'm now in a comfortable place where I'd really like to start telling stories and having fun in TTRPGs again!

I prefer to GM (Although it's been years, so patience on your part will be handy as I get the old gears spinning again) But will happily give up those reins if there's a one-shot you'd like to GM, or if you want to try your hand!

I've been itching to try out Pathfinder 2e so ideally would like to start with a PF2e game, but am quite happy to break and GM most things! As long as there's a story to tell, I'm there.

I'd be looking at a weekend game, ideally Sun afternoon/evening, played through a VTT (Foundry, FGU or Roll20) and with communication on Discord in a server dedicated to our group. I'd be running a homebrew world, but one that is open to incorporate ideas and collaborative storytelling.

I haven't got a fixed game idea yet but am open to most types of play.

If this sounds interesting, feel free to get in touch!

[Online] [5e2014] [EU/GMT+2] Dark Fantasy homebrew - looking for players

Greetings traveler!

I’ve been thinking about putting together a small online D&D group again and wanted to see if there’s interest.

The game would be set in a grounded, character-driven homebrew fantasy setting with an immersive style. I enjoy campaigns where the world reacts naturally to player actions, choices matter, and the tone can shift between quieter character moments, exploration, tension, and combat depending on the group and situation.

Basically very player-choice driven, and that can absolutely create unexpected chaos.

The setting and story may include darker or mature themes at times, though the game is not intended to be a misery simulator or purely grim. Gotta keep that hope up so the grim side actually gives a punch.

About the setting:

Magic and supernatural beings absolutely exist, but they are relatively rare and treated seriously by the world around them. Ancient ruins, strange creatures, old myths, magical phenomena, and even truly powerful entities do exist, but for most ordinary people these are unusual, frightening, or half-believed things rather than everyday life.

Magic is present in the setting, and magical player characters are completely welcome, but spellcasters are not necessarily common or casually accepted everywhere. Different regions, cultures, and factions may react to magic very differently.

The setting does come with some limitations regarding available races/classes/options. Not every piece of official D&D content will necessarily fit the tone or worldbuilding of the setting.

That said, I’m generally open to discussing character concepts, reflavors, or reasonable homebrew options as long as they fit the world and campaign style.

I tend to lean toward:

  • immersive/world-focused gameplay
  • character interaction
  • grounded consequences
  • dangerous combat when it happens
  • giving players freedom to approach situations their own way

This is probably a better fit for players who enjoy getting invested in the world and party dynamic rather than treating the campaign purely as a mechanical challenge or optimization exercise. I don’t frown upon optimization, but I prefer there to be a story behind the choices.

While I generally enjoy more serious and immersive tones overall, humor is absolutely welcome when it fits the moment. Absurd, awkward, or crude situations will inevitably happen sometimes.

Insert “tone the DM expected vs tone the DM got” meme here.

Practical stuff:

  • Online game
  • Discord & VTT (Foundry) provided by me
  • Most likely on weekends
  • Starting with a one shot or shorter arc first to see how the group feels together
  • 18+ players only

Looking for:

  • collaborative players
  • decent communication
  • people comfortable with both roleplay and gameplay (new players are welcome!)
  • patience for both slower moments and chaotic ones
  • people willing to engage with the world, the party, and the consequences of their actions

Some notes:

  • We would also likely be using webcams during sessions
  • A decent microphone/audio setup is appreciated as well. It doesn’t need to be studio quality, but clear audio matters a lot in online games and constant static/background noise can become difficult over longer sessions

If interested, send:

  • timezone
  • experience with TTRPGs
  • what you enjoy most in campaigns
  • availability
  • a small intro about yourself
  • tell me your hard limits beforehand

No massive applications needed.

EDIT: Thank you for all the interest! I’ve received far more responses than expected, so I’m going to pause applications for now while I sort through messages and talk to people!

[Other - Daggerheart][BST][LGBT+] Players needed! The Everlight Sanctum, a short Summer campaign.

Playtimes: Thursdays 3-6/6:30 pm BST (GMT+1), weekly for 8-10 sessions

System: Daggerheart, using FoundryVTT and Discord

Looking for: Around 4 players

Hi potential player! I'm Peter/Swift (M34, he/him), nice to meet you. 🙂

My GM Credentials

I've been running Daggerheart for the last year or so, with a group about 30 sessions into a campaign based on the Beast Feast frame. Outside of DH I've been a GM for ~9 years, with some success here on Reddit! Hoping I can find another good party.

Rather than use one of the core frames for this campaign, I've branched off into my own. It's a blend of the light, melodramatic tone of a coming of age college tale and a dark, oppressive outer world. It should fit that 'fantasy high' vibe, but is aimed at slightly older characters.

To read about the set-up and setting, please read the campaign pitch. This is meant to be a minicampaign that runs for 8-10 sessions over Summer, with the chance to carry on (scheduling dependent).

I really enjoy building my stories around player characters, so whilst I have an idea of what is to come your ideas will shape how the story progresses.

My games will include memorable NPCs with accents of varying success, mysteries to unravel, moments of seriousness and moments of magical whimsy.

My games are not combat heavy, although combat scenes will still feature. There will be no ER, no spontaneous PVP and other lines/veils will be discussed in session zero. I don't use AI, and would prefer that players didn't use it either.

What do you need to play?

  • Discord for voice (potentially video to, group dependent), with a decent microphone
  • A computer/browser to run FoundryVTT, no sign-up/download/etc. needed

Looking for:

  • Players who like to invest in their character, the other characters and the world
  • People who enjoy collaborative worldbuilding (one of the core tenets of Daggerheart)
  • Friendly and respectful people, bigots are not welcome
  • Beginners are welcome! I can recommend resources to get you ready, enthusiasm outweighs experience

Does all this sound promising? Please complete this form and I'll get back to you. :)

[online] [other] collecting the gays and the transes for a system tbd rpg group (weeknights tbd)

hello

I'm an inexperienced DM and I've got the itch to DM again. does the following predicament sound familiar: "I want to play rpgs but can't find a group of people who are cool and fun!" it does to me. so i'm making my own group from scratch of gay and/or trans people who want to have a good time and are really flexible on what exactly we play.

im looking for this to be a long term group and we probably wouldn't have more than a session zero and some preliminary meetings before like mid june because i am very busy with some irl stuff but i want to start looking for people early because it's very hard. so please only apply if you have monk-like patience.

but basically i have no idea what we will play or anything because thats far less important than finding cool people to play with. we can figure that out together later :))

details:

time: a weeknight, not wednesday, time tbd but the evening because I have irl stuff to do. would probably not really get into the swing of things until mid-june at which point i'd love to do weekly games

system: tbd, see above. i would personally like to run something sci-fi. there are a list of games i'd like to play in the google form below

if you're interested, click me!!

edit: really interested in burning wheel but leaning towards delta green because i have a lot of material for that already

Hey future DM! We are a tight-knit group of very good friends from the UK who are looking to get started with Daggerheart.

One of us has had very brief experience as a player in the system while everyone else is brand new to it.

We are available on Mondays at 7pm BST

To get an idea as to who we are, we are spread across the UK but have managed to meet IRL for cons a few times. We're into games such as Final Fantasy XIV and Slay the Spire II, and we're into a handful of other nerdy hobbies like Magic the Gathering and Anime. A JRPG-vibe would be ideal for us but we are very open as it's our very first time dipping into Daggerheart.

As it's a CR system, the majority of us are either big fans of CR and/or are casual fans.

If you're interested, please fill in the form and/or let me know via DMs and/or Discord (WiseKitsune195)

[Offline][London, Islington][5E14][Saturday 2:00PM GMT][23+][LGBTQ+ Friendly] Lost Mines Of Phandelver

Nestled in the rugged foothills east of the Sword Mountains lies a stretch of frontier where civilization fades and the wilds reclaim what was once lost. The small mining town of Phandalin stands as a lone spark of hope in this untamed region, its people working to rebuild a settlement long forgotten by history.

Travellers along the Triboar Trail whisper of trouble in the area—raiders in the hills, missing caravans, and hints of something ancient stirring beneath the earth. Old maps have resurfaced, new factions have taken an interest in the region, and the past seems determined not to stay buried.
What begins as a simple job will soon draw a band of adventurers into a deeper mystery, one that will test their courage and shape the fate of Phandalin itself. Ready your gear and steady your nerves—the frontier is calling.

Hi everyone, I'm looking to put together a group of 4-5 people to start up a new campaign using the module 'Lost Mines of Phandelver' with the potential for continuing with another module after.

Game details:

  • Day/Time - Saturdays 2pm to 6pm GMT+1.
  • Offline, held at a private residence, near Essex Road Station, Islington, N1.
  • Character creation - D&D Beyond.
  • The initial module should last between 5 - 6 sessions however this depends on how efficient the party is or isn’t.
  • We will use paper maps to run the game.

Information about me:

I'm Thomas, a 28‑year‑old based out of the UK. This will be my third campaign, the second being a 1‑year‑long Waterdeep: Dragon Heist campaign and the first being 'against the cult of the reptile god' which ran for about 3 months, both run online with this being my first time running a game in person.
As a person I enjoy cooking, baking, origami, dnd, and most nerdy things. I am an accountant by trade but originally studied philosophy. I am left leaning politically and am a firm believer in LGBTQ+ rights and inclusion.
As a DM, I always try to offer plenty of opportunities for RP as it is what I always enjoy as a GM or player being able to RP my character in a world. I tend towards a balance between RP and combat. At the end of the day, the most important part of any campaign is for the group to enjoy the story. Most importantly I’d like for this to be a friendly, welcoming, and tolerant environment, so won’t tolerate hatred or bigotry.

Session 0:
We will have a designated Session 0 as an opportunity for everyone to meet for the first time, get an introduction to the campaign, and create characters together. As I’ll be hosting the campaign at my flat, I’d prefer to hold Session 0 in a more public setting, most likely a nearby pub—so we can all meet. All subsequent sessions will then take place at my flat.

I’d prefer that the party have some form of pre‑established connection that explains why they’re working together and what motivates them to take up the adventure. This could be something like belonging to the same faction (Zhentarim, Harpers, Order of the Gauntlet, etc.), being part of a mercenary company, or serving together in the Neverwinter/Waterdeep city watch. We will discuss this however as part of session 0.

Extra details
When it comes to characters I am happy to have any official character races or classes that appear in dnd 5th edition books. I am also open to any third party materials or homebrew however I would want to look at them first.

Thank you for reading through my post and if this game sounds like something you would like to join, please put an application in through the google form and I will get to you as soon as I can. I will look at all the applications as best I can and the game won't be first come first serve.
Form: https://forms.gle/Uvmc9vVH2ZyqFME18
If you have any questions, feel free to ask and I will answer as soon as I can.

YOU! Yes, YOU! C'MERE, COME ALL! TO THE GRAND FREAKSHOW! FAILEEEDDD SHOPKEEPERS! (house) [UTC+3]

EVER TRIED PLAYING DND, BUT GO OVERWHELMED BY RULES?! Well no more more, buddy buddy, as I got you! A simple, casual campaign of a sandbox kind! At day, roleplay as a merchant with weird and, sometimes, outright illegal wares, and at night you go into the forest and kill monsters for more money! Seems like a win to both the roleplayers and the fighters! SO WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?! ...Oh yeah, I didn't explain some things, that's what.

The system is a homebrew with little rules, dependent mostly on the players, so please be chill. I will try my best to make the game fun to you, making changes on the go if any complaints arise, so don't be afraid of that. My discord is kascat404. Yeah, that is a pun. What are you gonn do bout it? Anyways, you're now contractually obligated to apply for the campaign. 1.5 / 4 players (it's complicated)

[Online][PF2e][Homebrew Setting][UTC+2] Dawn of Mortals - a recorded bi-weekly campaign on Sundays

The Gods have grown silent... people's faith hangs by a string - one many are all too eager to cut loose. But the tapestry of fate is not so easily undone - at least not by mere mortals...

But forces stir in the lands beyond... from the depths unknown to the twilight past the horizon. In these dark times, all mortals must make a choice.

Some will cling to hope, guided by clerical promises... others will reject divine platitudes and seek guidance elsewhere, for better or worse... and there are even those who'll brave their own path, thinking the misfortune of others their opportunity - but trampled corpses make for a hard time climbing, and the fall is no better...

In these dark times, all mortals will make a choice - or believe themselves capable of such autonomy, at least. For few mortals ever thread the loom, being but pawns moved around the board, in a game they don't even know they are a part of.

But you... you shall learn the game, and you shall play it - with joy or resentment, one can't wait but foresee... whatever path will you choose, dear stranger? The strings dangle in front of you, your welcome to the divine theater - will you join the performance, or will you cut yourself loose? Make your choice, and regret later...

Signed - Fate's Chosen

Introduction

Hello everyone! My name is Taelyn (27M), a year and a bit ago I started my first ever campaign as a DM, which was a blast but fell through recently given irl complications with some of the OG players. But, second time's the charm as they say! I'd like to create a friendly and engaging environment for enthusiastic people to knock themselves out role-playing or knock some baddies out through combat! I value openness, expect decency, and offer a safe and welcoming space for us to build a story together.

I'm looking for players available on Sunday afternoons, around approx. 3pm to 7pm UTC+2/CEST. This would be on a biweekly basis - though with the possibility of switching to weekly early on when prep is abundant (or when we have to cancel a biweekly session we can hopefully re-schedule it in a week, not 2). We would play on Foundry with discord for voice chat.

My intention is to record the sessions and upload them (or clips of them) to my Youtube channel (@BenevolentGM - not exactly a big one, got 27 subs lol) - both to immortalise some memorable moments that may arise, but also to have material to show any newcomer if we do lose a player (though hopefully it won't come to that - I am proud to have maintained 4 of the 5 OG players for over a year in my previous attempt at the campaign). Though note that this footage would only be the foundry and our voices, no video cameras or anything like that - but I do expect players to have solid quality mics.

I must also specify I'm looking for experienced players (nothing against newbies, I actually had 2 as OGs last time - but both of which ended up not liking Pf2e as a system and thus eventually leaving, plus the combat difficulty of the campaign is quite high, and I don't want to slow down a recorded campaign to explain system mechanics - hope you understand). Oh, and only emotionally mature adults - in part due to some of the dark content in the campaign, but also cause I'm no good as a baby sitter nor a therapist.

Oh, and I try to avoid AI in anything in my campaign (recon it's worth noting in this day and age).

The Campaign Proper

My setting is mostly medieval fantasy - though sometimes more grim dark ages, others bordering renaissance fantasy, and some even borrowing from more classical periods. Since part of the appeal is a world steeped in mystery and lore - I, unlike many other DMs, shall not disclose much of it at all from the get go (though the cryptic monologue at the beginning may hint at parts of the plot, wink wink). Instead of hitting you with an exposition filled lore document, I want to limit what players know to what little their characters do, and let them discover the world and it's secrets organically, through conversation, exploration or research.

Lore aside, the campaign aims to alternate between being combat heavy and role-play heavy (only apply if you enjoy both! - on occasion you may do almost exclusively combat for a few sessions, others you'll go a few sessions only doing RP) - depending on whether the party is faced with a grueling gauntlet of monsters (some encounters being quite unique, as I'm using some from the BattleZoo books), or hanging out at a town hub getting to know some of the many recurring NPCs - all of whom I've taken the effort to give some meaningful dialogue interaction, quirk, hidden quest-line or something that binds them to the world and makes them feel alive. I want players to care for them - be it wanting to protect them or absolutely hating their guts, there's all sorts after all.

As for genres, though events in the world are often nestled between the grim and the apocalyptic (it's definitely not for the faint of heart) - I must warn I love me some comedy - which imho keeps the campaign from being outright depressing - but I know it's not for everyone. For the most part the comedy is situational and in universe, with some of the NPCs and contexts being more light-hearted or silly. For a comparison if you're familiar - think the Divinity Original Sin games or Baldur's Gate 3, which often oscillate from grim-dark adjacent plotlines, goofy talking animals, and a bit of dark comedy here or there. Aside from comedy, every now and then I also aim to surprise players with genre switch ups to keep things fresh - and I'm not averse to experiment and take risks, even if I don't always nail the landing for everyone. So I would appreciate if applying players have diverse tastes in genres and styles of play, and an open mind to roll with the metaphorical punches.

Speaking of open minds - linearity. Admittedly, sometimes my world and story can be very linear - other times, very sandbox-y. Depends on the region, the plot, the stakes, the urgency, etc. But once again, I would love players that are down for both. As a DM, my strength is thorough prepping - it allows me to provide a great experience, with twists and choices and all, while compensating for my main weakness of not being the best at improvising. I'm not a theatre of the mind style DM - I'm the 'spend hours choosing music tracks for every map and combat, having a map for every planned location, having some basic dialogue or identity for every NPC, etc'. Point being, I'm no becky homecky DM able to whip up a polished map and plot out of nowhere when players decide to take things off the rails - so expect some railroading. Aka, you guide the train, at times lay back and just enjoy the views, but I set the tracks - and it's all smooth sailing from there, or maybe not sailing, it's a train, but you get the point, choo choo mfs'! Having said that, I also have areas that are extremely sandbox-y, so be willing to take the reigns when I toss you into a massive city full of locales and sub-plots and tell you 'what would you like to do?' - giving you 3 weeks in-game time before 'redacted main plot event'.

Duration wise, it's a multi-year campaign, spanning multiple regions (some of them are optional - up to the players whether they want to explore everything), each of which are about half or a year long to complete. Please do not apply if you are looking for a short-term thrill.

Finally, I'm planning to play mostly RAW - given Pf2e is quite balanced that way - but sometimes I feel confident enough as a DM to grant a homebrew story related power up or backstory related item, or make a boss with some homebrew abilities. Worth noting, some classes and races may be unavailable - for example, Android Gunslingers I'm afraid don't quite fit my medieval fantasy setting... But otherwise, mostly RAW with a hint of BattleZoo shenanigans (though that mostly involves enemies) and a pinch my own homebrew seasoning.

Testimonials

So, given I had a dedicated feedback channel in my discord server for the campaign, I'm able to allow my former players to describe my DMing strengths, weaknesses and style in their own words. So here, some quotes - from the good, the bad, and the 'observations coming from personal taste' (what? were you expecting 'the ugly'? from yours truly? ha!):

  • The Good

Your amount of prep has been nothing short of spectacular and the group has been a blast. The sheer variety of maps and locations and music is much appreciated.

I really appreciate all the small decision points you create everywhere we go it makes interaction with your world very rewarding and often leads to fun and/or interesting RP opportunities.

Redacted fight was very good due to the limited vision and choke points as well, it forced us to think on what to do and not fall into the same routine of Strike x3. It was challenging enough to make me genuinely worried but it felt achievable. And in general you do a good job setting up encounters that are thematically satisfying.

The quality of the writing/dialogue was really good and I loved the voicework / how much you were into it! It really added to my immersion and made me hyped!

I really, really appreciate how much thought you put into giving redacted moments to shine that session. I felt as if I was given the perfect opportunity to RP and show redacted's strengths and flaws without feeling like 'the chosen one' or something.

I think the experiment with redacted was awesome and I loved that. Not everyone would've liked it, but that was epic and I likely will never get the chance to do something like that again in a TTRPG. It was really fun as a little creative challenge for me to speed-brainstorm how I'd redacted.

I also liked that you held yourself together and didn't give us any big hints to solve stuff and just let us be exploring this redacted you so beautifully created.

Your music choice is immaculate. The vibes are excellent.

Also appreciated specifically that you let us RP about a lot of funny/unnecessary/fluff stuff at the table without interjecting.

  • The Bad (some of which I've tried to improve upon of course)

At times I feel railroaded and honestly I just want to explore more of the lore of this world that you created so intensively.

Sometimes you giggle at your own mischievous antics towards the party, and it can break immersion a bit.

Big boss combats sometimes devolve into the one jojo meme where all of the martials gather around to beat a guy prone on the ground. I would say don't be afraid to give a Boss like 45-60 more HP while still keeping it PL+2.

The only thing I feel might be lacking at times are slower, player-emergent sections or RP moments. I don't mind the story-intensive moments but when things are chill it could be nice to let the players freeform a bit - a 'calm after the storm'.

The intervention of redacted felt a bit Deux-Ex-Machina-y; though I can see there's mixed opinions about it.

  • The 'observations coming from personal taste' (of the players)

I think too many of the NPCs seem to have some sort of comedic element to them. I guess I would appreciate the majority of NPCs having a more serious demeanor.

Some elements of the campaign can feel game-y given the absence of much theatre of the mind, and how prepped everything is - even NPCs having a prepped initial line of dialogue rather than always improvising (it can feel somewhat scripted). I'd also love some more descriptions of the surroundings rather than relying on the map visuals.

I enjoyed the story driven "railroad" that was the redacted arc.

Just not fond of trail/travel sessions. Just a preference on my end.

I also love the rotating protagonist deal and having a PC being the focus for a 4-5 sessions at time.

I really appreciated the experimental nature of this session and I don't mind cutscene-focused sessions at all! There would be a point where I'd crave some action, but that wouldn't be for a couple sessions from now, so slowing down the pace is a-ok for me.

Her unique loot is very fun for me to use and super well-written and thought out. I love that it has significant downsides. It feels more cool than strong.

Loved the genre mix up! We mainly had standard fantasy happenings + combat but this was like an "out of left field" experience.

I appreciate that you structured the scenario in a way that allowed us to fail forward.

The more silly (but still seriously dangerous) redacted was a nice subversion of expectations.

The loot is really useful, perhaps erring on being a bit too generous and abundant at times. We killed 5 redacted and got like a loot piñata of all sorts of weapons/tools/unidentified stuff, so I kind of shut down when it comes to loot.

I actually really like the funnier bits as it makes the campaign not feel all doom and gloom, I would be a bit sad having to RP redacted as just purely depressed mode for example. But I can afford to be a bit funnier due to the crazy situations we find.

You don't have to rush to correct things, and fumbles only actually feel like it if you apologise/audibly say 'oops sorry guys I did X'. We actually won't notice or care about minor mistakes if you don't actually mention them.

I feel like half our combats have been of severe difficulty - luckily half of us seem like a bunch of masochists and surprisingly we haven't lost any PC yet.

Conclusion

If the campaign catches your interest, feel free to fill out the following form and I'll be sure to give it a read (since you survived through my own post lol)!

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScu3ShyAdM8GI3iLQMZLbSRRdBjG8FvT9CRZFfn83vJsCCabA/viewform?usp=dialog

I will contact you through discord if your applications peek my interest, with hopes to do a voice call, ask any follow up questions, check that your mic audio quality doesn't make you sound like ET, and 'sus out the vibe' as dem kids used to say before they got 6-7ed. Then, depending on how many people truly stand out - I'll either pick a group directly and then do a light-hearted ice-breaker type homebrew one-shot or session 0, or if a ton stand out I'll run said one-shot with 2 groups of applicants to see them in action and then choose players afterwards. So, yeah, I'm taking my time with this, but there is no rush, and I'm looking to build a dream team - which isn't easy with random strangers on the internet, but hey, my first campaign attempt OGs were quite a lovely bunch so I'm optimistic. And do know, if you don't get selected but at least we reached the voice call phase, that if I were to lose a player you'd likely be one of the few people I'd reach out to if you'd still be interested and available.

In any case, I look forward to playing with you, future players! Thanks for giving me the time of day and I hope you have a lovely rest of your day!

[Online][5E 2014][GMT][Foundry][Homebrew] Casual DM seeking 1-2 Players for a homebrew campaign. LGBTQ+ Friendly

Hi! I’m a UK-based player who started into being a DM whilst furloughed during lockdown.

I am looking for 1-2 more players, to make a party of 5. Characters will be starting at level 4, so that subclasses are available for whatever your main calss is.

  • I’m big on using homebrew things I found to surprise people with and (having a game I play in where the DM does this) giving out magic items so that people can come up with creative uses for them, and have a very large hoard on which to draw. I’m 32 with 9 years of experience playing (Arcane Trickster, Dream Druid, Tomelock, and Fighter).
  • I run the game on Mondays at 19:45 GMT, and I go for weekly sessions of about 2 hours or so. I have 3 current players, and we will be using using Milestone levelling. I'd be looking for a 4th and/or 5th who will be understanding that I'm not a hardcore veteran, so don't have every posssible ruling memorised, but I'm happy to be called out or reminded of things if I forget.
  • I like a group of 5 so that even if 2 of the group can't make it I would still have a majority of the group and could run anyway, but unfortunately two of my players had to bow out due to life getting too busy to commit to attending regularly.
  • I’m using my own setting, but it’s not fully fleshed out so far; I have several major locations and a plethora of NPC/scenario ideas to scatter wherever I feel they’d fit, so there is room to adapt/incorporate any backstories you have and would like to try out, and I may even have something interesting for you in my hoard of homebrew if you’d like to try an interesting class or race! I also intend to offer -if there’s interest and I've assessed them for balance- homebrew spells to caster PCs, with some curation of what they can find in the world and what they can just learn without having to find the ancient scroll or experimental spellbook etc.
  • The only stipulation I will have if you have a character already in mind, is that you don't start out as Multiclass. I would prefer characters to develop their build, rather than arriving with some munchkin "this is how you can break D&D" combo build. Race, Class, etc need to be from a published source unless worked on with me, and if you go for a more "out there" race like Plasmoid you will not be an everyday sight so NPCs react accordingly. If you go for Hobgoblin, Bugbear, etc, let me know which source, given the retcons to the lore when they redid Volo's, etc.

The Setting

Thruvilar: A world where the gods (I'm using the Faerun pantheon) of many dimensions came to test out their creations on neutral territory, until one such creation supposedly got too greedy in his desire to claim the world for himself and forced the gods to smite him down. Their collective wrath was so mighty that it left the fabric of reality weak from the release of energy and the gods left the realm, vowing not to fully manifest themselves on Thruvilar. Since then, as the millennia passed, many planes have made contact with this world. This resulted in a realm filled with all sorts of creatures, often lured in by the high concentration of leftover energy from the godly smiting, as well as some that arose through the arcane energies infusing existing things. (Therefore, plenty of room for interesting homebrew monsters, races, items and spells.)

Setup:

We're using Discord for voice, and Foundry for maps etc, but I’m happy for people to use actual dice for rolls, and there’s a free plugin called Beyond20 that lets you roll and manage health in Foundry straight from DndBeyond (if you have/kept it after the OGL shambles that went down). Foundry is great, but there is something of a learning curve, so some time may be spent getting acquainted with it initially.

  • Please don't offer any discord details etc in public responses to the post, just so you don't put personal details out for the public to see. If you give a brief snippet of what sort of game/character you'd like to play I can see if that is something I believe I can provide, and hopefully be in touch!
  • P.S. Previously when I made a posting looking for people for a game I had about 20 responses in 10 minutes, so I’d ask if you could please be patient as I try to parse through responses and find the right match for my game? I’ll do my best to respond to people if they seem a good match for my intended game style, but I may not be able to get through everyone, and I work full-time so I might not get to you right away. I’ll update/close the post once I’ve reached a resolution.
  • Ideally I'm looking for those who when playing will take quest-hooks, engage with the game and each other in role-play, and surprise me with creative solutions but understand that I have to make in-the-moment judgement calls sometimes. And above-all, try to make sure the game is fun for everyone. You are the one who decides what your character does, and can find reasons for anything, so don't be a dick and say "It's what my character would do" and then expect the rest of the party IC and OOC to be fine with it.
  • A previous player has described my game thus: "your style/game is featuring intrigue and your world features groups/factions with differing interest, and that players will navigate this landscape of adventure, mystery, intrigue, curses & magic. And that it isn't a dungeon crawl or similar type of game." I'll check with my players, but if you fancy a vibe check from a current player one of them will probably be happy to pitch my current game from the player's side of things.

[Online] [Discord and Foundry] [GMT+0] [Other] Padawans Lost

8 years have passed since the destruction of the Jedi and the raizing of the Temple during order 66.

Most perished, but some were lucky enough to find refuge in the outer rim, places where scum and villainy can not be avoided, and where ancient secrets lie.

You, for one reason or another, have made your way to a monolithic smuggling port orbiting a black hole, Event Risin.

Once hailed as the most luxurious of gambling resorts under Hutt control, but that was millenia ago...

Now, you're trying your hardest to make ends meet, not safe but a hell of a lot safer than being in imperial or outright hutt space.

You're here, along with your crew, awaiting a profitable smuggling contract, alas, options are thin, and money is running low.

You'll have to bite your teeth and hope that something comes your way.

So hi, the names Dane

If I caught your attention, then message me on Discord (labra.)

We run this game on Wednesdays, 6 pm GMT+0 every week.

We use Discord for communications and foundry for the VTT.

Very open to newcomers to the system.

Currently, there are 5 players, but 1 of us is very inconsistent.

We are a lighthearted group, loves to laugh and be silly in game but I will be taking the story in a serious direction, it might get dark, if there's anything that's a trigger for you, tell me before hand so I can give you warnings.

The current party comp is a mechanic, a cybernetics specialist, a droid bodyguard, a steel hand adept, and a mystic.

You're free to play whatever specialisation you'd like, but I would like to do character creation with you as we take the rules a bit lightly.

But yeah, other than that, hit me up on Discord. I'd like to do an over call interview if possible.

[Online][GMT][5e, PF2e, or other][LGBTQIA+ Friendly] ~Roadside Strangers~ an outlaw campaign.

Interesting times are a coming. The holy throne shakes under the son of heaven, his perfect visage is marred with blood. More are loosing faith every passing day. Beasts crawl out of the deep woods. Keepers strong in eye and arm, tasked with keeping them at bay, now lie beneath Fort Bragg, all sun baked bones and torn banners. But it's not the beast you should be afraid of. Rather those keepers who have not the decency to lay their heads down for king and country. Back home they roam rebuked and restless. Heavens above help those they come across. Speaking of. You best hand over your purse.

Have 🫵you ever wondered what a fantasy world looks like from the other side of a roadside forest ambush? Do 🫵you also have an inherent distrust of authorities? Would 🫵you like to ponder the nature of morality while roleplaying your blorbo? Would 🫵you, alternatively, like to be Heizenberg? Well then Hyena's bandit campaign might just about be for you!

Hello I'm Hyena, 23, He/Them, sumn like 7 or 8 years DMing experience.

With a decent premise, can roleplay for hours until somebody stops me. Don't have an accent game to speak of, but I've been told I'm decent at embodying different personalities. I've also been complimented on my ability metaphorically gut punch the players with emotional moments or big twists. And I try to incorporate backstories into the campaign's narrative, as per the DM standard guidelines rule #2.

Love a good combat as well. Most my combats serve some sort of narrative purpose, throwing out random encounters from a table is just not in my blood. I try to spruce them up as well, with different enemy types and wacky mechanics to switch up your plan around. Beware: I've been told I tend to make every encounter overly difficult, and also that I tend to be a pedant about realism and ~historical authenticity~. Both faults of character I try to be conscious of and not fall into.

NOW for the good stuff: The campaign itself.

Will be running in Foundrt VTT. The setting, ~Everember~, is like, imagine the new Divinity trailer meets Terry Pratchett. It's dark fantasy for sure, but not grimdark. The darkness is there to accentuate the humor and contrast with the hope for better days. And it's WEIRD and MAGICAL too of course, with ancient necromantic empires, and goblins that wish to summon a mercurial moon god, and wyverns that mimic human speach to hunt people, and biblically accurate angels, and elephants.

If you're apprehensive about it being ~le evil campaign~ and all the potential negatives that come with it, hear this out: I'm going to have a kind of a Build-A-Campaign with the finalized group. The players will vote on MANY crucial aspects of the campaign, including the expected level of amorality. In the end, the campaign could become a classic TTRPG campaign about Robin Hood-style noble vigilantes; Or it could be a political intrigue campaign about organizing a revolution; Or perhaps a Frieren-style big journey campaign about a group of master swindlers; Or it can turn into like, The Sopranos, but with elves instead of italians. The ideas and characters I have cooked up in my head can be fitted into almost anything with enough adjustment and I'm really curious to let the players assemble a campaign for me.

What kind of player I'm looking for:

  • The homosexuals are my people, and I myself am pan. You have to be at least an ally.
  • I am *not* willing to deal with minors dawg.
  • - I am european and going to run sessions in the evening on whichever day the finalized group decides is best. I welcome people from all over the world, but unless you could consistently show up to sessions that start anywhere between 18:00 and 20:00 GMT+3, the game is sadly not for you.
  • New players and veterans alike are welcome!

If this sounds like your kind of thing, I invite you into here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScB5LAzUDsNmttU93QJBcpCqKVMgx8FvUhOXWIPsiMSmSORzA/viewform?usp=publish-editor

I'm going to take about a week to accumulate and sort through the applications :^)

What's going on this week in the Discord?

Good morning... or is it afternoon?

The first invite to the Discord launch absolutely blew us away.

We had an incredible number of people join, so much so hat we’ve already had to fast-track some of our plans. This has been one of the best turnouts we have ever seen and are so happy with how things are starting out! Thanks to your help we also caught a few early setup mistakes and put your feedback into to community.

Now it’s time for a second wave.

Just like before, we’re opening up another limited 24-hour invite link, so if you missed the first round, this is your chance to jump in.

Why join this week?

We’ve already got a few events lined up:

Monday the 18th: Shadowdark Open Table
Dan is hoping to make this a regular weekly event. Maybe not the same world or system but a regular main stay open table! In this adventure you’ll enter a grim dark black metal world, delve a cathedral taken over by a fake god and prevent the end of the world!

Sunday evenings: Weekly Chat
A community hangout to talk about TTRPG news, events, and releases from the week; with plans to wrap up with a “Prep Together” session when time allows.

That’s at least two events this week, and we’re only getting started.

Coming Soon:

“This Is a Test”
A new open table and discussion event focused on new, unusual, or lesser-known TTRPG systems, designed to spotlight the wider TTRPG space. This one’s still in development, but we’re excited about it.

So... what are you waiting for come on down!
