I believe would be better if it was just a silent character

The cube has had a lot of laughs cuz Jack Quaid is voicing it, but I believe it would work better without the voice. You remember that part when he charges into that enemy with a big grunt, then pants heavily after. it just looks really silly. I feel like most of his moments are gonna be thrown off just cuz of the voice. I can’t help but think it being silent would be a lot more interesting too. Rn he’s kinda just giving vibes of a forced companion character. Like they wanted one, then gave it a story after.

Since Giants can be the size they choose I wouldn’t be surprised if we see Faye grow massive to fight certain bosses in the game

Cory mentioned back in 2018 during a spoilercast for GOW that Giants in their universe can pretty much grow to the size they choose to be. With Laufey leaving PS4 behind and using the full power of the PS5 it wouldn’t surprise me if we get massive scaled fights with Faye becoming fully giant in literal size against certain massive bosses like that huge cat we saw in the 20 minute walkthrough. One of the devs mentioned in a interview for Laufey that in comparison to how kratos fights Faye will do whatever it takes that will give her the best option to win! So, I think her turning massive against another giant boss would make sense to even the odds of that particular battle!

The Kid is Dionysus Zagreus

✓ horned

✓ a kid

✓ scale like skin (born of Zeus in serpent form)

✓ living in the afterlife (dismembered by the Titans)

✓ Reincarnation TBD (reincarnated as Orphic Dionysus)

I think with the expanded mythology from Asia etc., we will see less of Hesiod's vision of the Greek Gods and see more of the Orphic Mysteries. Zagreus is the god of Reincarnation and Immortality. He may be the key to Faye's escape from the Everywhen and could become the next big bad in a future game, particularly if the soul of Zeus is infused in his being and allows Zeus to reincarnate from the afterlife. As Dionysus Zagreus is identified both with Zeus and Osiris in late Antiquity, this could be the bridge to God of War Egypt with the kid becoming Osiris in that land.

[THEORY] The Everywhen, the Journey and the Greek gods

According to some translations on the mask, it indicates a journey, cycle and transformation. Which got me thinking, if Laufey or someone else finds a way to get out of Everywhen then it allows the Greek gods(if they are here) to return to the living BUT (twist) in their ROMAN forms showing the transformation part of Everywhen if the mask is correct.

Edit: It’s said that the Roman counterparts of the Greek gods were more war-like, what if (in-game) the reason for that change is to be more ready to take revenge on Kratos when they return? What do you guys think?

Fólkvangr

Honestly, when I first watched the Laufey trailer, I thought she might be in Fólkvangr.

The flower enemies and wildlife seemed very reminiscent of the stuff we see throughout Vanaheim. All the critters and hostile plant life really had me thinking I was on to something.

It is the only Norse afterlife we have yet to see, after all. I don't even think there's any mention of it, if I recall correctly?

But the pink flower enemies also reminded me of the ones back in Greece that we saw during Sons of Sparta, that shoot poison at you.

Idk. No big theory here or anything. Just an observation I made.

Some gods that i feel like should be in God of War Faye

It would be interesting to see how different Zeus would be now that hes free from Pandoras box. Not sure how many gods we'd be able to see in the game from Greek and Norse. Maybe even norse and Greek gods we haven't even encountered. Thor is obvious because of Faye and Thors rivalry. It'd be nice to see Baldur have a redemption arc in the afterlife. I included Modi because I just want to see Faye beat his ass up.

A map-style illustration of God of War Laufey. Hope you guys like it!

Since we don’t have the details of the game, tried to make it as accurate as I could while not really knowing the lore of this next chapter. Same Username on insta if you’d like to check it out there.

The Sword isnt of Indian origin

A large majority of reddit users had a look at the "sanskrit" and it seems to be a mistake and not actually sanskrit. Im thinking possibly central asian based off the design, could be Chinese or Tibetan? Im thinking either the wisdom sword of Manjushri or a divine sword of Chinese origin. Both of which would make sense as to why Begste is put off guard from It, it could also be a made up sword that incorporates a few different mythologies, as a gnostic i like the thought it could be based off Yaldabaoth(Demiurge) hence the lion and serpentine design and obviously the fact that theyre in a higher plane. Im pretty confident the one sword it defintely isnt is Excalibur.

Edit: design-wise its a mix between western and eastern sword design, thats why i dont think its Excalibur.... but who knows! And the fact its in a cube is kinda reminiscent of the sword in a stone and god knows how many different swords(excalibur isnt the only one in Arthurian legend) so theirs that to👍

Women of War: So what if in this afterlife time is different and thus maybe just maybe Faye meets Hela/Hel?

Who 50/50 could be Loki daughter thus it like a reverse Kratos and Atreus team up granddaughter who might be an adult team up with grandmother!

Faye's sword is Nandaka (Sanskrit: नन्दक, lit. 'source of joy')

ok so to me this is very clearly south asian writing and its almost certainly Nandaka (Sanskrit: नन्दक, lit. 'source of joy'). "The sword is described as blue-hued with a gem-studded handle." like cmon... i dont see any other possible explanation but im certainly open to it! it would make sense that the Mongol god would be scared of it since the Mongols never conquered South Asia and it is seen as a demon/god killing sword. this is the best pic i could get of the symbols. if anyone has a clearer one pls lmk!

The cube represents the current problem with god of war

I really hate the cube. It’s so ridiculous. To name it frank as well, Idk man it doesn’t fit. I like Jack quaid, but what are we doing here. I feel like this is just an attempt to appeal to more of the general audience. God of war is very violent and in some territories will be niche. Sony has been trying to like branch it out cuz it has the potential to do that. Also being the second best money making machine. This feels like smth insomniac would do cuz they make marvel and ratchet and clank. It fits there.

I remember when we all thought, sucker punch ghost games would be the assassin creed PlayStation games. It seems Sony picked god of war to be that thing though.

This game looks incredible, I love how unique it looks, but the cube is ridiculous. I have my issues with ragnarok, but the humor and modern vibe in that game is alr is a lot better there

God of War Laufey Theory

I don't know if it's crazy, but what if Mimir appears briefly in the every-when? Think about it: when Kratos cuts off his head in God of War 2018, he kills him and then a short time passes before he resurrects. What do you think?

Let's translate symbols on sword

Good. Starting from GOW2018, runes and symbols began to play an important role. There are symbols on the sword in an unknown language. Maybe it's something in ancient Mongolian. I suggest we translate together.

----

Update 1 About Sword:

I remember that some leaks mentioned Excalibur being in the game, so I decided to dig into it a bit. Here's what I found.

  1. Worthiness and the Sword in the Stone

The sword is embedded in a cube, which could be a reference to the Sword in the Stone legend—or perhaps something similar. Faye tries to convince Rue that she needs the sword, which reminds me of the Arthurian motif where only a worthy person can claim Excalibur.

  1. The Dragon on the Hilt

There's a dragon depicted on the sword's hilt. In the legends of King Arthur, Merlin is closely associated with dragons. It's possible that the sword was forged by dragons, belonged to them, or was created to slay them. Interestingly, Betce also resembles a dragon in appearance, which might explain why he's afraid of the weapon.

  1. The Sword's Rainbow Trail

If you watch the trailer in slow motion, you can see that the sword leaves behind a rainbow-colored trail. This reminded me of Caladbolg from Irish mythology, a sword that was said to unleash a massive arc of light. Some scholars and authors have linked Caladbolg to Excalibur or considered it one of the possible inspirations for King Arthur's legendary sword.

I also noticed that there are symbols on the other side of the blade as well, but unfortunately I haven't been able to find a clear enough frame to examine them properly.

It might be worth looking for something in Old English.
