Considering trading my Lexus RX350 for a 2026 Model Y — anyone made a similar switch?

I currently have a 2021 Lexus RX350 base with 71k miles. I have about 3 years left until it’s paid off, and I genuinely like it. It’s comfortable, reliable, and Lexus obviously has a great reputation for longevity.
BUT… I test drove the 2026 Model Y and fell in love with it. 😭
My son had noticeably more room in the backseat, I actually found the seats more comfortable, the drive was incredibly smooth, and the technology made my RX feel pretty dated in comparison.
The financial side is what’s making the decision even harder. Tesla gave me a great trade-in offer because I have positive equity, my monthly payment would actually be lower than what I’m paying now, and I qualify for 0.99% APR.
I’m also spending around $70+ a week on gas right now, so being able to charge at home would make a pretty big difference.
The only thing holding me back is knowing that my Lexus is a solid, reliable vehicle and I only have 3 years left until it’s paid off. Part of me wonders if I’m just caught up in how much I loved the Model Y and will regret giving up a perfectly good RX.
Would love to hear from people who have owned both Lexus and Tesla, especially anyone who went from an RX to a Model Y. What did you love about the switch? What do you miss about the Lexus? And knowing what you know now, would you make the same choice again?
I’m interested in hearing both sides because I’m seriously torn. 😂

2013 RX350 NOISE

Does this sound like a water pump going bad? A idler pulley? Wondering if anyone has heard a noise like this. Has about 108k miles. Seems to be a tad louder on cold starts but stays consistent. Any insight would be appreciated.

3 months and 5000 mi later…

I purchased this 26 Lexus RX 350h F Sport Design 3 months ago new with about 5,000 miles, as it was a Lexus regional rep’s demo. I just crossed the 10,000 mi mark today.

This car and I have already been through so much in the last 3 months. Several rounds of golf, a grueling 8+ hour DIY ceramic coating job, heavy flood and tornado warnings and even a couple first dates. I will admit, there are some things left to be desired, but I honestly could not be happier with not only the car I chose, but also the Incognito color and especially the 39.5 mpg I’m averaging.

All in all, if you’re thinking about getting a new RX 350, once you feel the comfort and ride on the road, I’m sure you’ll want one even more.

AC blowing hot. Chances it’s the compressor?

2008 v6 with 211k

Anyone else had their ac go out and the compressor be the culprit?

Parts guy told me it could just be a switch.

How much pay is reasonable?

My car is a 2015 RX 350. I am planning to do a coolant and break fluid flush and replace the serpentine belt. My Neighbour who is a certified Toyota techician is willing to do it. How much should I expect to pay him? TIA!

Lexus Rx350 weird sound issue

I keep having this sound every time I drive come from my drivers side back wheel. I got new break pads and rotors back in April. Haven’t had an issue until about almost a month ago with this sound starting. My fiance took it apart and couldn’t see an issue anywhere. Anyone got any tips or any idea what this could be to get it stopped. It does it when I drive forward and in reverse.

Good buy/Bad buy? I need help.

2013 RX 350 with 200k miles for 9k for my college daughter...

Am I insane to possibly buy for all in 10k knowing the Toyota dealer that I had do the purchase inspection says there is a "small" leak coming from the timing cover? When pressed if small meant seepage they said it isn't dripping and to monitor it. Car was meticulously serviced for its whole life and interior is spotless. Buying from a reputable big dealer in my area.

Keep it or pass you think? I have to decide by tomorrow end of day or the car becomes officially mine.

Would you consider a roof bag for your Lexus or not? Why?

As we all love our RX, but we have to admit that the truck space is not the best. When you are running our trunk space, would you consider something like this or not? Why?

First Lexus! Upgraded from a 2010 RAV4 to a 2009 RX350 AWD, excited but got a couple things to sort out

Just picked up my first Lexus after years in a 2010 RAV4 (RIP, it got totaled). 2009, Pearl White, 136k km (84.5k miles), AWD, and honestly the ride quality alone has me sold already, this thing is so much quieter and smoother than the RAV4 ever was. Got it for $13.8K CAD. No accident history and everything was in excellent condition.

Bought it as-is knowing about a couple issues going in, now trying to figure out next steps and would love this sub's input since you all know these better than anyone.

  1. Steering rack boot is torn (photo 1), grease visible at the tear. No play or clunking when turning the wheel, seems to drive fine. Anyone dealt with just replacing the boot vs the whole rack? Trying to gauge if this is a cheap fix or if I should just budget for the full rack.
  2. Front diff housing has some oily residue on it (photo 2), fluid level checked out normal. Does this look like a typical slow seep for these at this mileage?
  3. I'm assuming getting both repaired in one go would be cheaper way to go in the long run in term of labor costs?

Excited to join the RX350 club, just want to go into the repairs with realistic expectations. Thanks in advance!

I know I know… let me live okay! (off-centered license plate because why not)

My state “requires” license plates in the front. Haven’t had any trouble for a bit but knowing my luck I’d be pulled over soon enough 😅

It did survive a car wash which is nice.

RX350h

Quick easy question- we’re getting a RX350h Premium + 2026…or would like to. Does anyone have any experience with getting lower than MSRP?

The Toyota sub has a tracker on Google Drive of inventory across the country that checks which dealers might be selling it under MSRP so wanted to see if this group knew anything of the sort

Should I buy a 2023 RX350 luxury with 42k miles or 2024 premium with fewer miles?

Hi Rx350 experts, I am shopping for a new car and want an RX 350 Premium or better trim. Today I saw a pretty 2023 model but it has high mileage (42k) and was 49k out the door. It looks like it was well maintained but there was a 2k repair after it was sold to the dealer and the salesman said he cld not tell us what it was for. Is this a red flag? Is this an ok deal? I’m not an experienced used car buyer. Would love to get your recommendations on premium v luxury. Trying to stay under 48k out the door price. Thank you!

Scratches on my 2026 RX350h

Hey everyone. So my partner was at a baby shower yesterday and the parking was tight. Someone ended up hitting the Lexus while pulling out but just drove away and she doesn’t know who could’ve done it. The scratches are cosmetic but the car is a lease so I’d like to get it fixed up. The damage is on the rear driver side and I’ve attached pictures. Does anyone have any advice? Should I contact our insurance or should I just pay OOP and get it fixed at a body/paint shop? Additionally, if anyone lives in SoCal do you have any recommendations for a good shop to fix it up?
