They Are Not Just Lizards

First I want to say hi to everyone and this is a long one. I haven’t had a bearded dragon in a very long time, but I rescued Kova, and Ashe. Everyone knows how much we love our little guys. We all know they need us for warmth and to supply food. Great!! I think there’s more to this. They are very smart.

It started with Ashe he pooped and bc he’s a messy boy usually he needs a quick bath. He was wrapped up and dried, now it’s free time for him, then deep cleaned his enclosure. After everything was all said and done. I wrapped him in a burrito and he fell asleep like a wittle baby. I put him to bed and he stayed sleeping. My precious boy. Remember I have 2. So, on to Kova.

Kova is very docile but gives a nasty look like why are you breathing my air, you know your place. So we started to call him King Kova. I took King Kova out to do the same. Wrapped him up the same way, but little guy knows he has my heart. He started to move and I’m thinking he’s trying to get comfy. Ok cool. Nope this little dude walks up my face and puts his nail on my lip. I’m thinking he’s going to the pillow behind me. His scaly body was nestled on my face. He didn’t move he fell asleep that way. God forbid if I move the King. I get a nasty look.

They have us all fooled. They know exactly what they are doing and we are just playing into their hands.

PS: Ashe doesn’t have the blanket on him now

Update: Injured lizard

This guy has gotten much better.

Now he's scaring the shit out of me. 😅 I'm not really a reptile guy.

It was fine when he stayed still, but now whenever he hears a sound or sees movement, he starts running around like crazy. I think he's ready to be released now.

Florida king morph rescued read discription

Hi guys, i found this beautiful 6 year old, roughly 5’2” Florida king snake morph that was in the free section on Craigslist (it had been posted for 3 weeks and no one took her) and the owner had had her for 6 years and just let her out grown her terrarium and its so sad she deserves a much larger enclosure and a loving home, i already have ball pythons, a boa, 3 tree frogs, a southern pacific rattler, and lots of tarantulas, i dont have the space for her but im sure someone has the on here does. She is absolutely beautiful, fully healthy, been on a diet of frozen rats her whole life. She just shed yesterday. If anyone is knowledgeable on king snakes please comment or DM me, she needs a more space.

Can you see me? 👀

Discovered this little one while on vacation this past week, Fredericksburg, TX. Have been told **'**Texas Spiny Lizard' but am not sure. The scales were gorgeous and they were a confident little one letting me take some pictures, scared the heck out of a family friend and it made my afternoon. 🤣

Found an injured lizard after a cat attack. Any advice appreciated.

Found this little guy after a cat attack. Is there anything I can do to help?

I've placed him in a cardboard box lined with newspaper to keep him safe. I also put a little iodine on its wound. Any advice on what to do next would be really appreciated.

Saw a Caiman Lizard in an incredibly small enclosure at a zoo in Lido di Jesolo, Italy.

I’m currently visiting Lido di Jesolo, Italy, and today I went to a local zoo. One of the animals that really stood out to me was a caiman lizard, but unfortunately not for a good reason. The caiman definetly didn’t look like a juvenile, maybe not a full grown adult but It had well developed scales, robust limbs, and adult coloration.

The enclosure was far too small for such an active semi aquatic species. What shocked me the most was that there was no proper water feature at all just a small water bowl that was barely half the length of the lizard and definetly not nearly as deep enough for it to fully submerge. From everything I’ve read about caiman lizards, they spend a significant amount of time in water and are strong swimmers, so seeing one housed without a pool seemed completely inappropriate.

The enclosure also appeared to offer very little environmental enrichment. There was only one branch, barely any substrate (you can see on the far left) and like 1 plant and rock…

I’m not an expert so I could be wrong and this could be correct for a specific circumstance but i highly doubt it, small enclosure, no height, no water feature and much more…

Thirsty blue-tongued skink

Fractus was pretty thirsty this morning. Never underestimate how much these guys drink. He drank for about 3-4 minutes this morning taking short breaks to lift up his head, Im assuming to aid in swallowing it all. All 3 of mine do this on a daily basis. Make sure you always have fresh water for them.

This is Liz

This is my Cuban knight anole named Lizard (nicknames included Liz, Wizard, Wiz, King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard).

I cared for this creature for 13 years and they died ~10 years ago.

Liz was a feisty little thing as a babe but grew to be quite sociable. That being said, I think Liz got a kick out of terrorizing new people with fast moves and gentle nibbles.

How does Liz look? Healthy? Fat? Skinny? Full of visceral angst? Second pic is baby Liz. I would have benefited greatly from having a resource like this sub while taking care of Liz. Just looking for some feedback or appreciation. Such a cool critter.

Caught this tiny cutie in San Jose, CA!

What is it? What can I feed it?

I have a few leopard geckos that I love and take good care of and I’d love to have a local lizard as well. I’ve seen this variety a ton, but never this tiny before.

Can I feed it XS mealworms? Or tiny crickets? Or would this lizard need any veggies and if so, what kind? I want to get it whatever is best for it.
When I Google it, I see a bunch of bugs in their diet, but I’m not sure what all I can find, so I’m hoping I can feed it what bugs I can acquire at a pet store.

I’m working on clearing out a decent sized terrarium for it. What should I put in there and what temperature and humidity should I aim for?

It looks a little over 2 inches long, definitely less than 2 1/2 inches long.

Questions about ocellated skink

I’m in the early stages of thinking about getting an ocellated skink, as in I started thinking about it today and have been doing research lol. I have a couple questions about the setup if anyone would be able to help!

  1. Would the Arcadia Shade Dweller T5 7% be suitable for an ocellated skink? This is what I use for my leopard gecko. If not, what bulb/fixture would be better suited to this reptile?

  2. Should the substrate be pure sand or a soil/sand mix? I know it should be deep and ocellated skinks love to “swim” through the sand so I imagine a higher percentage of dirt would make that more difficult. I have a soil/sand mix in my leo’s tank, should I do something similar with maybe a higher sand percentage for this type of skink or is pure sand safe/recommended? Is impaction a concern with a pure fine sand?

  3. From what I’ve read so far it seems like they should have a very low humidity level during the day but very high humidity level at night. What’s the best way to achieve this?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!

Gold Dust Day Gecko without a tail.

Found him at the garden in our resort in Hawaii. He lost his tail, most likely through the caudal mechanism that they possess. like many other petioles, they can detach their tail at specialized fracture locations and continue wiggling to distracting a predator while the gecko flees.

Nile monitor

I was going to buy an Asian Water Monitor, but unfortunately, is no longer available. However, I was offered this Nile Monitor. I know it is a lizard with a demon inside it, and I did some research as well, but I would like to hear from breeders: Is it really that bad? Can I tame him with hard work, since he was a kid, or am I going to have a demon in my house?

(I asked the shopkeeper if it is possible to have an Asian water monitor or a black-throated monitor or a tego and he told me it is possible after two weeks or more)
