A collection of close-up photos of several lizard species. Enjoy 😉
Thank you, Tucson rés idényt!
Hi, last week I did something I’ve been promising myself for several years. Instead of driving from Los Angeles to look for birds in Southeast Arizona, I deliberately ignored the birds and spent several days in Tucson in a dedicated search only for Gila Monster. Why am I writing about that here?
- Tuesday night a week ago I was walking around in the late afternoon at Sabino Canyon looking unsuccessfully for Gila Monsters, but this lady saw my camera and binoculars and walked up to me and told me about a desert tortoise that she had just seen. Her description of where to look for it was great and I would’ve never gone on that particular trail so I would’ve never seen it and later on I realized that they had split the ones in Arizona and Mexico into a separate species from the ones in California, so that was a new species for me. I wish I could go back and thank that lady who was a local, for telling me about that tortoise. I really appreciate it.
- That same night in Sabino Canyon I was shining my UV flashlight on a scorpion and some random dude walked up to me and he looked at the scorpion while I was photographing it in the dark, and I was explaining to him why I was in Tucson for the week, and he told me about this excellent spot in Saguaro National Park. I went to that part of the park the next morning and talked with some employees there, and they told me where to look for Gila Monsters, but they also told me that none had been seen since May. Even then, they gave me a map and highlighted the best spots to look for them and I came back in the afternoon and finally at 8 o’clock at night I saw one. It was a gigantic thrill for me. I’m so stoked that now I have a stuffed, life-sized Gila Monster from the National Park gift shop riding around in the back window of my Toyota. so if you’re ever in Los Angeles, and you see a life-sized Gila Monster in the back window of somebody’s car, you’ll know that’s me. Thank you, Tucson!
This is Green Anole Lizard, it goes from Green to Brown depending on its age and mood. We have a bunch in our backyard. It is very cool.#nature #peaceful #joy ❤️🙏
Can someone help me identify this little guy?
He was seen in Reno, NV. Thanks for all your help!
Proof I have a family of three!
We have at least three maybe five definitely three lizards living in my garden because I’ve seen at least two of them at one time and also one is bigger than the other. I also sometimes was wondering if I was miss remembering things
Today was the first day I saw all three of them at once at the same time close to each other for like a second and then they split apart. I tried to get the best photo I could of their of them of all three of them at once, but that was tricky. I just circle where they were apologies for that one but seeing where they were, you can understand .
Azula of the Hole
My lizards have boxes specifically for keeping dirt moist and deep so they can dig way down for enrichment. Naturally these are called the Diggy Box. Azula has been hanging out in hers the past few days, I like to visit her in her vacation home.
Azula is a female jeweled lacerta.
Any hope for this little guy?
I have inside cats and somehow lizards Come inside my house and find out.
This little guy is still alive and lethargic lost a tail is there anyway I can help him?
Thirsty boy
Fractus had just finished taking a big drink and stretched to swallow it.
This is a green lizard, it turns colors wherever it happens to go to. It’s still green because there’s so much green behind it I guess.#Nature #enjoy #running❤️🙏
His first day at school 🤣
He’s learning so well 😂
Saw someone have this for their Ackie monitor and thought Blue would love it and he definitely did! Took him a bit but he got the hang of it shortly!
Wait, this isn’t where I parked my tree hole.
Found this tiny guy in my garden, moving very slowly, do I need to help him?
For context, I live in England in a conservation area and I found this guy in my (dried out) pond. There are plenty of snails, slugs, grasshoppers, and spiders in my garden so I’m sure he has plenty to eat and when I released him he went towards a log pile at the end of the garden, so pretty sure he’s living here. My only concern is how slow he’s moving in this video. Is this normal? If not is there anything I can put out to help him?
