Can you help me find a great looper? The RC-505?

I really love my current setup, where I use a Keystep Pro to sequence/control a few synths, and my drum machine (TR-8s) is synced with Midi. It's all connected to my mixer, Tascam 24. I also have some circuit-bent toys and a microphone. I have a blast with it!

I would love to add a Looper pedal to my setup. Using my mixer's Send/FX, I want to send sound to the Looper and make a few loops that way.

I have tried a few synths that have a recording function, but they are too complex to use mid-song in the moment. I'd love a Looper that can record a few loops and let you easily choose which loop to play. I don't want menu-diving, and I don't need to save loops. I'd love something I can turn on and easily use in my setup.

The RC-505 Loop Station looks to be what I want as it lets you control 5 loops. It's just gigantic, and I was wondering if there is something else I haven't seen.

Thanks for any tips!

Looking for looper pedal recommendations

Hello!

I've been a multiintrumentalist for a long time but never had the incentive to grab a looper, or any kind of sampling outside of my PC for that matter.

But I'd like to build a portable setup I can basically move around and just quickly throw and fiddle with, without the need of any big screen. iPad, laptop, my whole life is on those, and I'd like my music to be a no-screen playground.
The setup would look like this: Shure SM57 for instrument/voice, a piezo contact mic to fool around whatever surface I have on hands, a Microfreak synth, a Zoia Empress for effects, maybe throw in a CB Mood mk2 for kicks and a looper to tie it together, and maybe a Pocket Operator or some sampler if I feel the need.

I was eyeing the Boss 505mk2, but it looks a bit too big for my needs. I really want to buy something that will take a long time growing out of though, so the idea of a single track looper isn't really appealing. I can spend some more if the price is really justified. What would you recommend?
Also I'm seeing that multi-layer export isn't a thing on Boss pedals, is that a problem if you want to expand on a recorded track?

Thanks!!

Ditto Stereo Looper - loop-only headphone output mod

Hi everyone,
I’m considering modifying my TC Electronic Ditto Stereo Looper to add a headphone output that would let me hear only the recorded loop, while keeping the normal outputs unchanged.

The reason is for live use: sometimes the loop needs to be very quiet in the amp/PA mix, but I still need to hear it clearly because it keeps the timing.

I’d like to use one in-ear headphone in one ear, while keeping my other ear open to hear the live sound.

Ideally:
- Normal Ditto outputs: guitar + loop, as usual
- New headphone output: loop only
- Mono is completely fine, I only need one ear.
- Small internal modification, if possible

I’ve been considering going with an IEM setup, but that would require additional gear, which isn’t ideal when traveling. If modifying the Ditto turns out to be impractical, I’ll probably go that route instead.

Has anyone here worked on the Ditto Stereo circuitry or done a similar modification?
I’m particularly interested in whether there’s a point on the PCB where the loop playback signal can be tapped before it gets mixed with the dry signal, and what would be needed to drive a single in-ear headphone from it.

Any advice, schematics or experience with similar mods would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Need recommendation to buy one all in one looper

My requirements are vocals, Guitar, drums, and keyboard at the least, and I should also have some effects on the paddle for a vocal pitch correction and some guitar effects. Which one is all in one Good unit that can pack all of this.
I’ve been considering Sheeran X but since it is very expensive, I would like to pick opinion from
experienced folks.

best looper pedal for a simple live looping setup?

I’ve been getting more into loop-based playing lately and want to pick up a looper pedal that I can actually use comfortably live. I mostly want to layer guitar parts and maybe some vocals without getting lost in menus or needing a huge setup. What best looper pedal would you recommend for someone who wants something straightforward but still has enough features to grow into?

I’m mainly looking for something reliable and easy to control while playing, so I’d really appreciate hearing what you guys are using and what you like or don’t like about it. Thanks!

Outdoor setup - effects - KorgNTS1

Hi:

I am working on setting up a rig to make music in the park here. I have bought a Zoom Livetrak6 for the mixer and have no shortage of battery or usb powered synths.

At home I have been using the Microcosm for effects, I am going to miss it (I would rather not try and produce 9v power outside).

I do have an NTS-1 that would fit the bill, and I am at last willing to pay for at least one of the SineVibes effects for the NTS-1...but I have not seen one that is compelling. I am after time based, perhaps granular effects, I know I can't reproduce the Microcosm, but that is the direction I am interested in (I have enough reverbs and basic delays already).

Can anyone suggest something from Sinevibes or elsewhere? I already have the Hammond Eggs tool.

PLAY] Canto de Ossanha (Baden Powell) - Afro-Samba Club Remix played live on a custom 14-string double-neck guitar

I wanted to share my live arrangement of Baden Powell's classic "Canto de Ossanha". This specific version is inspired by an old electronic dance remix I heard years ago, where the traditional Latin groove was reimagined through a club beat.

To recreate this sonic landscape completely live and in real-time without backing tracks, I’m using my custom 14-string electric double-neck guitar combined with an integrated foot drum system. Managing the melody, harmony, basslines, and percussion simultaneously was quite a challenge!

I would love to hear your thoughts on the setup and the arrangement. If you have any questions about how the 14-string neck layout works or how I manage the independent routing for the foot percussion, feel free to ask!

"Fully automated live show in Logic Pro

I know what you're going to say. But I'm not familiar with Ableton Live, and I want to stick to the same DAW for both production and live performances. I want to know if there's a way to make my show completely automated. My goal is to automate the recording of my instruments onto separate channels using Logic's Live Loops feature. Long story short: I need to record the lead vocal, wind instruments, and processed vocals on the same microphone, and the bass on another channel. All of this simply by hitting "play," perhaps via a MIDI controller. But once the track starts, everything has to record automatically. Is this possible? I hope I've made myself clear."

Would anyone want to set up a subreddit for learning multiple instruments at once?

Might be really helpful to have. Like a community that helps people learn quickly so they can be better loopers.

Best small hardware box for live looping? Is a used MPC One the answer?

Hi everyone!

I’m looking for a small, dedicated hardware box for live looping. I specifically want something physical, no iPad, laptop, worrying about the screen going to sleep, opening apps, etc. I want to turn on a box and start making music.

The best option I’ve found so far seems to be a used MPC One for around $400.

I really like the idea of having 16 physical pads so I can record different loops/samples and build up a performance. I’ve looked at some of the Boss loopers as well, but the MPC seems like it would give me a lot more flexibility for roughly the same investment.

My priorities are basically:

  • Small standalone hardware
  • Easy live sampling/looping
  • Lots of physical pads/controls
  • Ability to build up multiple layers quickly
  • No computer or iPad required

For those of you who actually do hardware live looping: would you buy a used MPC One, or is there another box I should be looking at?

I feel like I might be overlooking an obvious piece of gear, so I’d love to hear what you guys are using.

Thanks!
