RC-600 fixed measure recording — can it automatically switch from REC to PLAY without a second press?

RC-600 question: Can fixed measure recording auto-end? I want Track 1 set to 1 measure and Track 2 set to 4 measures, press REC once, and have it automatically switch to PLAY at the end. My Measure/Loop Sync/Quantize settings work, but it keeps recording until a 2nd REC press. Is that required?

Take the sweat out of building looping rigs

It's taken quite a few iterations and selling stuff that didn't work out to get to the looping / live production setup I'm happy with now. While doing that I created an app to help us get clear on our goals, and what gear we have and need to achieve them. It asks you smart questions, deeply researches solutions, and delivers you a gear proposal within your budget, with curated training resources and links to real products from suppliers in your country.

  1. Go here to try it out for free: https://soultechie.co/gear
  2. Give it a creative goal you have which needs some gear (eg: "I want to expand my keyboard rig into live looping", "Live stream performances in multicam with automatic switching", or single items like "Battery powered PA with USB streaming and 2 mic inputs"
  3. Add your relevant existing gear and answer questions to get your requirements nailed
  4. Let the app do the heavy lifting and get your 1st free gear proposal with real supplier and training links - all independent with no affiliate commission involved
  5. If you're happy you can share your plan, gift one to someone else and receive 2 credits for anyone who signs up
  6. Chat in the app to let me know what new features you want or any other feedback

I want to use Amazon less for a number of reasons, and so the app currently works harder to find other suppliers - I'm curious what you make of that and if you'd rather a switch to include it? Also working on including 2nd hand market to get more for your budget.

EHX 9500 vs BOSS RC 600 vs BOSS RC 505 MK II

Hi guys. Looking for my first serious looper and these three seem to tick most of the boxes. I'm really struggling to decide and would love some input from more experienced players.

I mostly do ambient / drone and experimental music with a lot of synth, mics and sometimes guitar. It's very hands-on, I do a lot of subtle changes and would love something that gives me more control. I often use multiple instuments, and the main goal is to play it live! I want to be able to use it more as an instrument and not just an effect. Having volume and/or pan is super important.

I found similar posts in the group before but wanted to spark up the discussion again and see what comes up!

My thoughts so far:

The EHX looks more like a mixer, not so much menu diving, but all loops are the same length which is a big bummer

The RC 600 seems flexible, but very guitar player focused, lots of menu diving

The MK II is kinda in between I guess. But I really don't like the design and it has even more menu diving

Any suggestions?

Feelin' Alright - Joe Cocker ~ an Aaron Esposito Live Loop Cover

So I had all intentions of recording that Bobby Caldwell song at my gig last night, but I'm an idiot and didn't double check the gain on the interface I brought. So every recording I got was distorted. But as I was deleting the rubbish off my memory card I found this recording from March. I'm new to editing and I'm learning better ways to capture my live performances. Stitching two angles together was a fun challenge, and now I'm thinking of ways I'd want to adjust the process. Every time I play out I'll play the songs a little different and the guitar solos are nearly always improvised. That spontaneous aspect has its drawbacks and the venues I play always have a ton of distractions, but that's all fuel for my adhd brain. Hope you guys dig it!

Question: DJ controllers that play (and sync) well with the RC-505mkII?

Hey, gang. I've recently gotten into learning DJ skills, focusing on Mixxx. I'm also something of a newbie with the Boss RC-505mkII looper, and with Ableton.

Anyway! My biggest frustration has been MIDI sync. Everyone says the RC-505 works better as the master -- fine. But if it's connected to a DJ setup, the *DJ* station has to control the tempo.

I'm hoping one of you has a DJ controller that's been able to do this for you. I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Looping without the focus on looping

With my main focus being on songwriting, but really wanting to be able to perform live without having to rely on other people‘s schedules and a budget, using the RC-600 has been a fun challenge. I’m trying my best to arrange songs as well as be able to perform them in a way that doesn’t distract my engagement with anyone who might be in the room, listening. So much work to do, but I think all this tech makes makes it possible. Just need to step up my game without it looking too much like I’m stepping on pedals 😅

[Home Studio Live Loop] I gave "Free" a softer, lo-fi feel and recorded this live-loop performance in my home studio.

I just realized that KPop Demon Hunters came out almost exactly one year ago. Crazy how fast internet culture moves. Something that felt like such a huge cultural moment already feels nostalgic.

The live loop session in my studio has a very different vibe from the original song, but I thought some of you might enjoy hearing it in a more relaxed, dreamy atmosphere.

Field Recording Loops?

I've been thinking of getting a field recorder to capture nature sounds and then make loops. However, I'm starting to consider alternatives like the TE pocket operator, which has a built-in microphone and sampler.

What have you all tried? Is it necessary to get a standalone field recorder to do this?

Need android app that will work as clip launcher for clips of different lengths

Hi, I am looping some audio clips and I've been looking for an Android app that I can load them to and loop them and launch them spontaneously. I will have loops of different lengths and will need to be able to play Loop A, and launch Loop B so that on the next completion of Loop A, Loop B will start, seamlessly. And then go to Loop C, and back to Loop A, etc. The issue I am having with a lot of the apps I've been trying is that these loops are different lengths and tempos, and I am not able to get the app to do what I want. I am still looking for an app that can execute this. Does anyone know of an Android app (preferably free if possible) that does this? Also I will need to be able to pitch shift so that I can change the key if possible. If it doesn't pitch shift (I think most of them do now) that's okay, I can always convert the audio into the key I need before I load it into the looper app if necessary. Thanks! -Jon
