Im I eligible to apply ..?

Hey, I’m upgrading in Alberta and still have my 30-level courses (like English 30-1, Math 30-1) in progress.
I already finished most 20-level courses through school/summer/online.
Can I still apply to nursing programs like MRU or U of C while my Grade 12 courses are not finished yet, or do I need to wait until final marks are done?

Thanks for any help.

Cengage, Bloomberg Subscriptions

Hello everyone,

I am a student who has been at MRU for the past 2 years (I transferred from Uvic after being there for 3 years), and I am quite shocked at the money hungry ways of MRU. First of all, how are student services and SAMRU fees total to over $800 per semester?? What am I paying for? I barely use student services half the time. Not to mention, after paying for each course, the profs money grab you by making you pay almost $150-200 PER COURSE for cengage, pearson, mcgraw hill, bloomberg, etc for a requirement of your grade like quizzes? Our prof straight up told us our Cengage courses are worth 12% and if we don't pay for the $150 subscription, we get a 0?? I read somewhere that they get commission off it, but this is insane. I didn't think universities are allowed to make students BUY their grades, like that is so awful. Why do we have to pay for our grade when we are already paying for the course? Coming from Uvic, I don't remember signing up for a single one of these sites. I always remember there was a used bookstore and we would all try to get books from there, but at MRU, we must pay $150-200 each course for Cengage for "quizzes" (since they couldn't money grab us by just buying textbooks off Cengage as most students wouldn't do that). But does anyone else find this absurd?? And how are our student and SAMRU fees $800 with no way to opt out?? And why do libraries close at 4 pm on weekends?? I remember everyone studying at Uvic libraries till midnight every weekend and everyday.

- Currently a student struggling badly trying to pay tuition and rent.

Edit: for those asking, these are all the courses that made me pay for Cengage or Bloomberg to get an additional 8% or 10% on the course: FNCE 3228, FNCE 4407, FNCE 4409, and all accounting and Econ courses, and many more but I can't remember all off the top of my head. Also for talking about textbooks, that's not what I'm talking about. I never had to get textbooks at Uvic, and a used one was enough. My issue is the 8-15% class quizzes that if you don't do through their website, it's 0%. These are the websites I'm talking about where you must buy over a $100-200 website subscription to access the quizzes: Pearson, Mcgraw hill, Cengage, Bloomberg, etc.

MRU student here — need a few people to test a site I built for a project (20 min, laptop)

Hey r/MRU! I'm a third-year BBA student here, and I need a few people to test a website I built for a project. It's a site that helps Calgary drivers find tires from local shops.

All you do is screen record yourself on your laptop, going through the site, completing a few short tasks, and answering some questions. Takes about 20 minutes on your own time — fully async, no scheduling needed.

Close your open tabs and apps before starting for privacy. All recordings are used for research purposes only and are never shared.

No car knowledge needed at all. Click the link below to get started, or DM me if you have questions!

Anatomy and Physiology II Help!!!

Hi everyone! When I registered for my classes, I only did so for the fall term. I didn’t know I could register for the winter term and the only option for Anatomy and Physiology II left for the winter is with a really tough instructor with horrible ratings. I’m wondering if it’s offered in the spring so I can still take it then. Any help would be appreciated please 🙏🏾

Nursing - UofC or MRU? which one is a better choice for targeting a high GPA

My daughter got admission in both MRU and UofC for the Nursing program.

Commute is 30 minutes to UofC and 75 minutes to MRU.

Not able to decide which one is a better choice for targeting a high GPA to get into the Nurse Practitioner program in the Master's.

Please provide suggestions/advice.

Deferred Graduation

Hi everyone.
I failed my anthropology elective and I honestly don’t know what to do right now.

I was supposed to be graduating this spring, but I had an A and a B on the first two components of the course and then got an F on the last two, so now my MRUgradu8 shows the course as an F.

The hard part is that taking a summer course really isn’t possible because of my wedding and honeymoon plans, which is making me panic even more. I’m feeling really disappointed in myself and overwhelmed trying to figure out what my next steps even are.

If anyone has gone through something similar or has advice, I’d genuinely appreciate it.

Impossible to find a job

Hi everyone, I’ve been looking for a seasonal, summer, part-time, or full-time job and have been applying for months without much luck. I’ve been trying to stay positive, but so many months of this is starting to take a toll. I can’t even enjoy things without that worry coming up.

I’m open to roles in retail, grocery stores, or internships, and I’m willing to learn and work hard. If you know of anywhere that’s hiring or could refer me, I’d really appreciate it. Thank you so much for any help.

Is Graduating in 2027 Still Possible?

I am currently going into my third year of English this coming Fall but I am trying to graduate by next year 2027 so I'm currently taking 3 Spring classes and 2 Summer classes to cover some gned/electives. For both Fall 2026 & Winter 2026, I have a full 5 course schedule. I unfortunately failed one mandatory English class during Winter 2026 semester, will I still be able to graduate Spring 2027 even if I take a Spring class?

I've already taken 1.5 years in another program and would just like to speed-run the English degree.

Let me know what you think or any advice you can give. Thanks

Nursing Schedule

Hi, everyone, I got into Mount Royal University’s undergraduate nursing program, and the faculty gave me the N2 version for the classes. I have made up my schedule, but encountered some problems. Could someone assist me, please?

  1. Is my schedule good? I didn't exactly use the way they sent it out in the PDF, and will that make any impact on my degree? I made sure I was doing all the classes for year 1 and doing the options from box 3. I also made my classes early so that I have the rest of the day to work or study/ rest. Is that good?
  2. With my current schedule I am doing all the classes I am supposed too with the only class I am missing being Anatomy and Physiology 2 which I couldnt take because my nursing classes both 1111 & 1112 had to be taken in the same sem and I tried to put them into both the fall sem and winter sem with my anatomy classes but it wouldnt work since the classes were either full like for the winter sem or be waitlisted in the first sem (fall).
  3. Can I take a spring semester? Is that allowed at Mru? I only have 1 class left, which is Anatomy and Physiology 2, so can I take it in the spring semester?
  4. I also heard that nursing students can take four classes per semester. Is that allowed?

Attached are the images. SECOND IMAGE IS WINTER SEM AND THE THIRD IMAGE IS FALL SEM

I’m wondering if any transfer or mature students who applied to the Nursing program for Fall 2026 have received an update yet.

Have you:

Taking a semester off

I need to take a semester off to focus on some addiction and mental health stuff. I need to know:

  1. Which MRU department to talk to, or if I should just not pay for the semester

  2. How my student loans will be affected. I'll be at the 5th year of my program, and I wonder if taking a "6th" year will make me ineligible for loans

If anyone has any advice or knows who I can talk to, I would greatly appreciate it
