## 🔥 Two quick things up top

**MegaMUD 2.0 Beta just dropped — new version released.** Great time to try it if you've been on the fence. Smoother, faster, and built for modern systems.

**MME .DAT files are posted in the Discord right now.** No more waiting on the phoenix — full pack is ready to download, drop in, and walk straight into the realm.

## What you're walking into

- **All nine stock MajorMUD modules** running, plus the fan-made **Dragonlance Expansion** and **Blighted Marshes** fully featured at launch

- Content already in place to push you comfortably to **level 80**, with **legendary level-90 gear** in the loot tables

- Cap is **level 200**

- New expansions roll out when later-game zones saturate, or **monthly — whichever comes first**

- **Reset policy:** no resets unless the realm goes derelict or a majority vote calls for one, and even then not until at least **one full year** has passed. Your investment is safe.

## Rebalance edits that respect your time

- **Stock limited drops converted to farmable** with set percentages. Everyone gets a shot at the rare gear they always wanted. New-content limited rares are preserved for the daring.

- **Stock boss EXP reduced, quest rewards significantly boosted** to compensate:

- Smash & Meditate now available at level 20, only 10 items required, **500,000 EXP**

- Master Assassin's Stealth quest now level 20, **500,000 EXP**

- Dao Lord drops **7,500,000 EXP** (up from 2M)

- Phoenix Feather quest **1,500,000 EXP**

- Alignment quests 1-3 **tripled**

- **Overworld monster regen more than doubled.** Camping pays.

- **Lair Mod equivalent — and better.** Regen increased across the board.

- **Instant-regen monster arenas** seeded for squishy classes that struggle early. Tucked away. Not advertised. Find them.

- **Caster spell scripting rooms** for Caster-2 and above, with new spells including **Indignation** — a Mana Storm-tier AOE for Priests against the undead.

## Class & item changes

- **Warlocks now have two-handed weapon access.** If a Mage can channel through a staff, a Warlock can channel through a great axe.

- **Scale armour weights reduced 15%**

- **Mage 'Illuminate' now functions like Starlight** — no more lighting it like a torch

- **Potions are no longer magical** — Witchunters can finally use them

- **New Smash-tier weapons** in the 20-40 loot pool in limited availability

## Player permissions

- **SYS GO and SYS MAP are enabled.** Player time is valuable; the way home shouldn't cost an hour a session.

- **Lawful option enabled** — pick Good alignment at character creation

- **Entertainment Module enabled** — extra lives purchasable in-game

- **No SYS BOT** — no free alignment changes or retrains

## Custom commands you'll want day one

- **`RM`** — Map & room number, regen time remaining, illumination level

- **`DEA`** — Recent deaths log: what killed you, where, when. No more hunting your death pile through 300 rooms of Diamond Mines.

- **`ST A`** — Full stat drill-down. Every META-level detail: HP/MA, AC base + vs-alignment, DR, all five resistances, dodge, crits, spell damage, regen rates, backstab numbers, full attack/bash/smash tables, all six core stats, complete skills breakdown

- **`MN`** — Remote monster lookup. `MN { name }` in-room, or `MN { room# } { map# }` to check any spawn anywhere in the realm. Find out if the Beholder is up before you walk there.

## The rules of the realm

- **No PvP.** Disabled per pre-launch player feedback.

- **Death-pile raiding is discouraged.** Disputes get settled in the Arena. The sysop does not intervene in player affairs — gang politics, ninja looting, training etiquette, social drama. That's for the realm to settle.

- **Multiboxing:** keep it to 2-3 boxes while the realm finds its feet. Light duping is fine. Large coordinated dupe parties cornering the loot economy in bad faith get their characters banned and their loot pinned up in the town square. Don't be that guy.

⚔️ Major combat and spellcasting upgrades — new round timer in the status bar, redesigned spell combat, better attack tracking, smarter spell retries, and improved combat flow.

💚 Smarter healing, curing, and blessing logic — reworked healing priorities, party/room-heal options, lowest-member healing, timed bless recasts, and faster HP updates.

🧭 Navigation and event improvements — updated paths, better path selection, resizable “How to Get There” window, combat-aware event pausing, new hotkeys, and backtracking support.

🎒 Better item, parser, and file handling — improved pickup/drop/buy/sell parsing, smarter auto-learning of equipped items, safer character saves, and more reliable capture/data handling.

🖥️ Interface polish and stability fixes — cleaner window titles, better toolbar icons, reset-window options, improved inventory weight tools, reduced connection spam, and a big batch of combat/pathing/party bug fixes.

MMUD Explorer v2.2 Released

  • FIX: Weapon +hitmagic was not being considered in vs mob/lair damage output calculations for regular melee attacks if the character wasn't also backstabbing. Even in those cases, it was the backstab weapon magic being considered. This could greatly hinder accurate exp/hr predictions for many versus mobs that have +hitmagic requirements.
  • UP: You can now press the back button on the mouse to go back to previous tabs in the order they were clicked
  • UP: Right-clicking on Up or Down exits on the maps will now immediately go up or down (up+down excluded)
  • UP: Added a button to the EQ tab to copy commands to your clipboard to equip all of the selected items
  • UP: Encum/weight will now be differentiated more clearly from the ability that provides +enc%
  • UP: Tolls in room tooltips will now show as gold or higher currency
  • UP: You can now specify the database (mdb) and/or character file (mmec) as arguments to launch MME
  • UP: Monster detail panes will no longer refresh (losing scroll position) when switching tabs
  • UP: Next armour slot button will no longer skip "nowhere" and WILL skip slots with no available armour
  • UP: NMR import/export will now import to and export carried items from the inventory manager
  • UP: Added support for new GreaterMUD abilities
  • UP: Tweaked mana recovery prediction formulas in exp/hr models

  • FIX: monster greet / textblock command parsing for consecutive command quantities
  • FIX: copying item details to clipboard from the item manager
  • FIX: stock exp calculator at higher exp tables
  • FIX: Inconsistent item references for items that can be also obtained from chests
  • FIX: Added keepalives to the database connection to prevent errors after MME has been idle for awhile
